It's not called Vaporwave. Vaporwave was much more about Statues, 1980's Neon stuff more of a classical ode to beauty. Y2K was more of a reference of the new millennium that we were approaching, it featured designs of beauty in terms of futuristic Sci-fi, and in other times was also a reference to a combination of the 1960's but more futuristic as well. Take for example Space Channel 5.

Bryce 7.1 Pro is like $4 atm, so maybe consider getting yourself a copy from Daz3D and then you too can learn to make all kinds of nice old-school 3D images.

Note that Bryce 7 is a 32-bit application which limits its usable memory to 2Gb, there is/was a free patch for the PC version to increase the available memory to Bryce from 2Gb to 3Gb though.

Also, Bryce 7 won't work on MacOS 10.7 or higher.

sure, if you have some kind of a working knowledge of a different 3D program like Blender, Vue, 3DS Max, etc. then it should be more than possible to produce content like OP's image in your program of choice

but for someone starting out in 3D art, Bryce actually isn't a bad choice for a program to begin with because it's very accessible and it relies a lot on presets, particularly for things like skies, trees/foliage, and lighting, that can either be used 'as is' or can be heavily tweaked/customized once you get more used to using the program
>>
>>7884127
I see would it work at least in Windows 10/11? Because I have a 64 bit application and Windows 10 and I am thinking to install it.
>>
>>7884236
the latest version of Blender should absolutely work on 64-bit Win10, though obviously double check the system requirements first -

https://www.blender.org/download/requirements/

Would Bryce work on a 64-bit Win10 PC?

probably, though the last time I used it was on 64-bit Win7 some years ago so can't guarantee how stable it'd be on the newer version of Windows; but once again it's only a 32-bit program, so it's physically limited by how much RAM it can make use of, so the bigger/more complex of an image you try to render the more chance you have of the program simply crashing.
>>
>>7884096
>I wish there was ways to make this still.

I'd guess that both >>7883477 & >>7883478 were created/rendered using a fractal flame generator program called "Apophysis".

The latest version of this program is called "Apophysis 7X" which can be downloaded from sourceforge.net

Well 80s and 90s I guess, but the aesthetics of the early 90s were still influenced by the 80s, because culture doesn't just shift once the decade changes. When someone says "90s aesthetic", I don't think people usually picture vaporwave. Vaporwave has grown to include more things, but I remember when vaporwave was new with Floral Shoppe, it was an 80s thing.

Here is one I made, trying to learn Bryce 7.
>>
>>7889209
not a bad start, good job anon
>>
>>7889209
Is Bryce 7 like dreamscape or whatever it was called? I've been trying to find it for weeks now. I know it costs like 10 or 20 bucks.
I've always wanted to make my own stuff that I remember from my dreams given that I a sensory condition and it helps remind me what I've seen.
>>
>>7889354
Dreamscape and Bryce 7 are fairly similar in that they both deal with terrain/sea/sky generation, the key differences between them being that Dreamscape is a third-party plugin for Autodesk's 3DS Max that retails between $200-600 in addition to the cost of a copy of 3DS Max; while Bryce 7 is a standalone 3D program with many other features that's been developed by many different companies over the last 20 or so years, but is currently owned and developed by Daz3D and is now on sale for $9 (normally about $20).

N.B. As mentioned earlier in this thread, Bryce 7 is only a 32-bit application, so can only natively make use of about 2Gb of RAM; though a patch was released which increases that limit to about 3Gb RAM, this patch can probably still be found with a quick search of the Daz3d forum. Because of this memory limit though don't expect to be able to generate absolutely massive renders; depending on how large and complicated the image is the render process will be quite slow and/or may simply crash the program with out of memory errors.

But memory issues aside Bryce is still a fairly decent (very low-cost) introduction to 3D art creation.

I really wish Bryce was open source or was a thing that went into Blender.
>>
>>7889375
Thank you very much, this saved me an hour of research and money.
>>
>>7889583
Because of all the modules and features in it, I'd guess Bryce 7 would probably be too large and complex to be turned into a kind of plugin for some other application like Blender.

As for becoming open source, if Daz3D continue to show almost no interest in updating the program to Bryce 8 and beyond, and it's now been about 11-12 years since Bryce 7 was released, then I guess making it open source would be one solution for carrying the program forward into the future, especially if another major developer couldn't be found to buy and take on the program and do it any kind of justice that it deserves.

A couple of useful links for Bryce users regarding the programs 32-bit memory limit:

Tutorial video by Horo (one of the current leading experts in Bryce) -
https://youtu.be/UDZmETVO15c

Large Address Aware App (article mentioned in tutorial video) -
https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/large-address-aware.112556/

Note that the LAA app can be used to 'fix' just about any 32-bit application that isn't natively LAA-enabled, not just Bryce, and it should result in an increase of the available memory to the 'fixed' program from 2Gb up to somewhere between 3 and about 3.5Gb

https://y2kaestheticinstitute.tumblr.com/post/172738674354/aesthetic-of-the-day-depthcore-metalheart

Just found it here. Also a small description.

"Aesthetic of the Day: Depthcore / Metalheart / Trendwhore (~1998-2004)

Thought I’d start doing some posts on various aesthetics I’ve been studying since starting my exploration of Y2K four years ago. Metalheart, named for the 2001 book of the same name cataloging the work of Swedish designers Andreas Lindholm and Anders F. Ronnblom, is a visually complex and heavily digital aesthetic popular in the very late 90s and early 2000s. Its precursors include experimental deconstructivist works of designers like Zaha Hadid, the loud and expressive graphics used in rave flyers of the era, and designs by firms ATTIK and Me Company. " Interesting to note because i do remember this being common in the Y2K era.

Does anyone else remember owning the dvd for Pitch Black? Or maybe you still own it? Because in the DVD there's some extra content and one thing in that extra content is footage of a Pitch Black themed rave (early 90's/2000's electronic music) and it was awesome as hell. The problem is I can't find footage of that literally anywhere. I remember back before Myspace died (it's still around, but you know what I mean) someone had uploaded it to Myspace. Now that Myspace is different I guess that video is no longer on their servers. I still hope that one day I'll find it online. Or maybe Ill just buy the DVD one of these days when i'm not broke as shit.

Btw, that game is a real banger if you speak German. Dark (and at times lewd) humor, 4th wall breaking on a regular basis, pop culture references and so much more...
