These stress me out. Sure they're nice-looking during the day, but then you're surrounded by see-through walls at night. Sure it's assumed that these locations are secluded, but I would never feel comfortable knowing anyone could just see into my bedroom at nighttime.

>>7886264
If you turn off the computer, it probably wouldn't be drawing too much power. Those white christmas lights are probably LEDs. Not sure about the ones near the fishtank though.

>Christmas / Fairy lights hung up around the room
I've dated and known too many women that do that and I don't understand why. They never look good as they are always tossed around.

as a man with a brain I wouldn't just toss them around and call it a day, I'd route them properly with aesthetic and practicality in mind. that being said, there are better and less gay ways to light a room without using those, or even worse, overhead lighting.

i feel the same way about dudes and shitty RGB all over everything. fairy lights are nice when used right. They add a touch of whimsy to a nature/foresty setup. they're called fairy lights for a reason.
Rgb always looks bad. It's the preferred look of immature try hard GAMERZ.

My dear wife died a few months ago. I've been doing my best to make the house comfy for the kids and I. I've got some speakers and an amp coming in soon and then the music/reading room will be done.

Working on the kids room and other parts of the house too. It helps me get through the day and seeing the kids happy is all I care about at this point.

most of the stuff you have at home, especially lighting, uses minimal power

it's just noticeable, so people whine about leaving the light on, even though it uses costs nothing

meanwhile the real power sinks in industry and the like are conveniently ignored

Thanks, it's interesting how we cope with tremendous loss. I'm not emotional at all, never cry...but losing her broke through my threshold of emotion in a way I never expected. I cry every day and it's been months since she left us. She loved Christ so I know we'll be together again...my pain is more due to the temporal loss. We're relatively young...I'm a widower and in my mid 40's LOL. That shouldn't happen but the Lord giveth and He taketh away. So be it.

I don't care about much anymore, not material things. Just gotta finish the race for my kids. That's what she would expect so I will get it done. She would also be proud that I got fired from my stupid fagman job for not getting the jab. I wish she could have lived to see that. My old girl was based, more based than me, haha! What a loss....

As Peter Pan said, “to die would be an awfully big adventure,” and when the small one here ends, the big one begins. For those of us in Christ, the great and beautiful truth, though hard to fully grasp, is this: death is not a destination, but a threshold, and the world beyond is not some final resting place in the sky. It's the beginning of the new everything.

But you already know this.

Here's to your wife. She took an early flight. Got there before the party. She's helping to set things up.

I write mystery. Thanks for asking. The picture you shared is of an old carved arch featuring free form avian motifs. It's actually from an old 19th century high end Chinese restaurant. It was originally an entire arch that was in the entrance to the restaurant. You would have walked through it when entering to dine. The arch fell and was damaged but the top mantle portion was undamaged. I sold it to a wealthy Chinese businessman and friend I met during my travels. I loved that piece but it belonged back home.
Here's where the mysteries are written.
>>
>>7898117
Oh awesome. Where was the restaurant located? Did it have the same fame as those NYC restaurants did back in the day? Trying to remember the name of the one I'm thinking of, but only the Drake Hotel is coming to mind.

This is such a badass desk and collection! Do you speak mandarin or any of the other Chinese flavors? If you do, ever hear of Heisig Method for learning simplified or traditional characters? I'm in the 2nd year of it. Spent a year learning how to do English->character, and now finishing up the last third of Character->Pinyin. Fun stuff, but the study is no joke. Shoutout to all the Anki bros who may read this someday.

What's in the miniature cabinet to the left of your monitor and rhinosaurus beetle friend?
>>
>>7898138
That's a secret formed when I met a certain trader at a Singapore hawker center. Travel tip to the mandarin learner: always go for the stalls with the B- or C+ rating. The best comes from those too busy to clean.

Hello /WG/,
This is Benoit. The house is definitely real and not a set. The original poster and owner Harlan Thrombey, just died under mysterious circumstances. I have been hired to investigate. I think I a may start looking for clues in this thread. Many people here seem to dislike Mr. Thrombey... If anyone has any information, please post in this thread.

Thanks for the compliment. I live in Michigan and I am a public school teacher. My wife and I got the antique bug at some point I guess. We have been at it for about 10 years or so. I got most of this stuff in the usual way, estate sales, garage sales, Ebay, antique stores. Some of it we inherited from family. These little African figures have an interesting story.
My grandpa worked for an American car corporation (with a blue oval) in the 1970's in South Africa during Apartheid. He had set up an office there that was desegregated. Someone tipped off the police who visited the office and told my grandpa he had to segregate the office. My grandpa refused and said he didn't have to comply because they were Americans and that shouldn't apply to them. The police left but came back with more police and basically threatened my grandpa with arrest if he didn't comply. So my grandpa spent eventually complied with the law but as little as possible. He kept everyone in the same room but made a wall out of filing cabinets going down the middle of the room. Blacks on one side, whites on the other. The police inspected and begrudgingly approved. But later my grandpa bought shorter filing cabinets and moved the employees closer to the them so they could collaborate and talk over them. The police came back several times and threatened my grandpa. Sometimes he would have to move the desks further apart or something but he always moved them back. Some of the employees gave my grandpa these figurines as gift when his assignment was up and he returned to the states. My grandpa died of dementia recently but he always treasured these and remembered them. He had them displayed in his nursing home.

I also have my great, great grandpas Civil War discharge papers up on the other wall. He lived in West Virginia so he fought for the North.

We have actually lived in this house for only a few months so the office is still a work in progress. (most of the antiques came with me from the last house). I turned one of the doors into a cork bulletin board so I wanted to post so you guys could see the latest project. I covered it in black fabric to class it up a little. The house is a 1950's ranch and the whole thing needs to be renovated. Not much original from the 1950's is left though or I would be trying to preserve that. The house got an pretty bad makeover in the 1980's so there is a lot of cheesy wallpaper and old carpeting everywhere. It's nice being able to escape down here sometimes and get away from the mess for awhile. This room is in the back of the basement next to the boiler room so it's pretty peaceful down here.

Great story, loved to read it. Must be great to have pieces with personal value and stories to attach to it, conversation pieces are the best thing to decorate a room with.

Where I live, having collections like these is not really a thing, partially because there just aren't enough things to go around and secondly because the few pieces that do go around are too expensive for an average Joe to start a collection with. Makes me appreciate your room more, hope to have something similar going on one day.

Thanks for replying and for the story.

Lmfao this is the biggest line of bull I've ever heard. Unless you're in the absolute top of the top of the 1% of authors you don't make nearly enough money for the kind of stuff in these images + hepa filters and twice annual cleaning crews. You're either Stephen King or have wealth from elsewhere.

...care to share your secret? Not asking you to dox yourself, but for real how have you been able to afford all of this? Were you born wealthy?

Funny you cite that leddot.
I'm a mid-30s guy and have a nice 1-bedroom apartment thanks to my job. Fully decked-out living room, bedroom, and with one of those 3-person kitchen tables. Keep everything clean as I was raised in a dirty environment by my parents who could be viewed as hoarders. Matched with a late-20s girl off of Bumble earlier in the year and when she came over. She immediately said; "I love your place as it feels adult".
Fast-forward to me going to her apartment
>1 large dog who was never taken outside except to shit
>Studio apartment
>kitchen area was one countertop, mirco oven, sink, and a fridge
>standing shower
>empty Dunkin and Starbucks cups around her coffee table
>Had left a credit card bill out where she was over 15K in debt due to lazy wants spending
Within a month of us dating. She was throwing hits about moving in. NOPE.EXE
I'll rather be an incel and remain single.

Ugh, I'm dealing with some similar things right now, although it isn't my life partner that is sick. I'm a pretty unemotional person too, but a couple of days ago whilst mowing my lawn I just started working myself up and becoming very upset. Took me a few hours to calm down and get over myself, but even then it's a pretty bad situation.

I too believe in a higher power, and that if you are a good and honest person you are a shoe in for heaven, even if you have made mistakes in your life. Do your best, raise your children the way she would want, and I know that you - like me, will meet our loved ones at the gates of St. Peter.
