$140 laptop reporting in, can run VPN, Firefox with 10+ tabs open, text editor/office software, and mp3 player open all at once. Best cheap laptop I've ever found. Highly reccomend this laptop as a Linux laptop, battery charges really fast and lasts a suprisingly long time. Good build quality too.

its not a bad upgrade, some really silly bugs still exist; ones that bug (hehe) me the most are like (video related) the file picker when using your browser (except epiphany) will grow every time it opens until it maxes out your screen, at which point you either have to change the scaling to make it small again, or resize it before it maxes the display, or detach it from the parent window using the tweak tool option. Another one is that all new windows will open in the top left corner and won't remember last location, I hate this. If 21.10 works well for you now, stick to it until 22.04.1 or even 22.10 is released. All in all this update just made me hate GTK3, ngl, GTK4 apps are beautiful and much better performing. Imagine finally a half decent system applications that one wont need to download 3rd party shit to replace, imagine macos but better :')

tldr; wait for next big update if you want, otherwise it still just werks for the most part as of now
>>
>>7908698
can you even stop the upgrade? it's literally downloading as we speak. I'm just asking out of curiosity because what I really want is that simple screen recorder that 22.04 has integrated. I'll stick with xorg same as now because auto screen rotation doesn't work on wayland yet. Used to prefer Linux Mint but since I bought this laptop for simple work I'm using gnome for the touchscreen and learned lo love it pretty quickly. Long gone are the days of gnome 3.36 and below
and ye GTK4 apps seem pretty consistent and beautiful, I'm excited for the evolution of gnome

yea things like screen are definitely worth the switch, you can stop the download, it's just a upgrade command so just force quit it if you'd like (obviously unless it has started installing). As you're using touch-based interface, definitely upgrade.

how's it like without systemd? also can you post installation process of your distro
>>
>>7909714
Feels not different. Devuan downloads and enables init scripts automatically if necessary and they have init scripts for about everything. If you don't want to tinker around you don't have to interact with your init system at all.
The installation process is exactly the same as Debians, it's even the same installer. The only difference is, that it asks you which init system you want to use. Recommended is sysvinit, it has the most support. I did a minimal net-install and there was absolutely no difference from Debian.
If you can handle Debian you can handle Devuan too. It just works.
>>
>>7909761
There are two differences compared to Debian I forgot to mention. If you do a live installation, it uses the Refracta installer, which I find a bit confusing. Also, Devuan uses the non-free repo by default, you have to switch to the libre-repo after the installation.
But it still warns you during the installation when non-free packages are necessary and asks you if you really want to install them.
>>
>>7902467
