I am a big fan of classical fantasy art, but can not find any high res pictures that I can use for a wallpaper. Posting art I have saved
and my fav Frazetta ever, Egyptian Queen from 1969grabbed the best scan I could and cleaned up the values and despeckled all the fireflies. The scan had a ton of white pixels and some damage/stainssold at auction in 2019 for 5.4 million
>>7917992It looks good. Nice work!
Another of the GOAT fantasy illustrations
Interesting papes I'll admit but did this guy learn to draw cats from dollar store taxidermy or what?
>>7917127I always thought it‘s rude to listen to music on headphones while you’re with people
>>7916367check out Frank Frazetta's personal website. There is a pretty huge archive of relatively high res images and his stuff is imo one of the core inspirations for most popular fantasy art.
>>7917959is this the same Jamie Jones that did the Progenitus painting for mtg? Looks fantastic
>>7919836yup, same guythis is one my fav pieces of his. like his own "Egyptian Queen"
>>7917957Is this from John Carter?
>>7917992wow... all that texture stuff there is the fabric?makes me wonder, and worry that someone may someday 'touch up' this art. To try and 'fill in' the gaps. dt4th
>>7920582Most paintings are done on fabric. That's why they call it "canvas," actually. So rest assured, it's highly unlikely someone is going to try and restore something that doesn't' need it.
>>7920582>>7920583Some of his early stuff was on masonite boards, a cheaper alternative than canvasHis work size was actually quite modest compared to a lot of oil painters, and that Egyptian Queen is only 19.75" x 25.5"Since he was illustrating book and magazine covers, no need or time to make huge artsy paintings. And often those paintings would then be cropped in even tighter for the final print. That's one of the reasons he omitted detailed backgrounds a lot of the time - it left empty room for titles and side text, and an intricate background would just distract from the key focal characters on a magazine rack.
>>7919835This and the Heavy Metal Magazine. Was pondering about gettimg a physical subscription for quite some time now but shipping to Europe is mad expensive.
>>7917958This was actually used for the self-titled debut album of Wolfmother, one of the best Rock albums of the last 20 years imo.Give it a listen, especially "Woman" and "Joker And The Thief".
>>7920917no need!I'm well acquainted with WolfmotherCosmic Egg is great too.The riff in 10000 Feet kickshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZH-bY2MC7M&ab_channel=WolfmotherSongs

>>7924971Does anyone have a higher rez version of this that isn't cropped or have a huge watermark in the middle?
>>7916780love this one, its in every rotation
>>7930319that's sci-fi not fantasy dumbass
Anyone know of painting that is a human mother with 2 children wielding a club squaring off against a giant wolf that has 2 cubs. I believe the setting is a cave. I thought it was a Frazetta but couldnt find it in his catalog
>>7930319what is your definition of fantasy

Anyone have a good "Sir Gawain and the Green Knight" style images for use as a phone wallpaper?
>>7932260>>7932261>>7932280Fantasy: YesClassical art: No, look too anime-ish
Trying to recall a high fantasy magazine style graphic novel I read as a child. Hundreds of issues, full splash page visuals with text on top, same character in each, runs the gamut from sci fi to high fantasy. The key bit of info is that in each issue there was an ugly salamander/frog looking critter hidden (and maybe a robot thing too?) Anyone?
>>7930427Not sure of the one you speak of, this is the frazetta I have of a mother and wolves. But is different then what you described with clubs and such, but still a good one
>>7925039what is wrong with you
>>7933063Not the one Im thinking of but still an awesome painting with the same vibe.
