Could someone, anyone, AI upscale this to 4k at most? 1080p will also be more than satisfactory, but it's such a crunchy fmv with no other way to view it than in Nintendo DS resolution.

You could use a rom and DS emulator and increase the resolution with the emulators scaling options.
>>
>>1486980
Bro, it's an FMV. It's only in one resolution
>>
>>1486980
I have tried.
>>

I will suck you for this, pleas

I can try upscaling it using Topaz AI video upscaler. You would have to give me a link to a raw capture not one with youtube compression. You can upload the file to google drive or whatever file uploading service.

I dont have the best setup for upscaling video but its decent enough for a short video.

Also my PC specs are RTX 3080 and a 5900x CPU.

So glad this cutscene is right at the start of the game. I'll have that for you soon.

Right here, anon! Thanks so much for your help.

OK, might take me a while to upload it. I should have it up within 5 hours at the most.

Thank you so much for that time! I will wait as patiently as I can, vibrating from the sheer power of spergery contained in my head.

A fullscreen capture like that is hardly usable for an upscale.
Some frames are skipped, the framerate and resolution are wrong, and it's lossily compressed.
It's also dithered to hell by the NDS decoding.

>>1487301
Here's the .mods file taken straight from the .nds ROM:
https://files.catbox.moe/caslop.mods
ffmpeg and mpv can read it.
But in case Topaz AI can't, here a lossless h264 conversion:
https://files.catbox.moe/92noxu.mp4

There's no sound, so it'll have to be taken from the capture.

Here you go, messing with the settings to figure out what works the best is what takes the most time.

I think it would be easier with a 1 to 1 size of the video. To get the best results with Topaz I had to choose options to upscale a downscaled video back to 1080p.

Originally got the software to upscale VHS rips but I haven't really been messing with it.

It's green like the simpsons. But i can't imagine my pc will run that rom without frame skipping or bein smelly, so I suppose the original in an emu is the best I've got.

YOOO
this is unreal-looking. Thank you, anon! You've delivered a strange outcome, but I love it.

Yes, and I provided it here: >>1487319

The first two video look extremely blocky, as would be expected with feeding 5.625x pixels.
The third one looks surprisingly good, but it'd be even better with the native res video.

Color space issue. I'm getting the same with my file browser's preview, but it looks right in mpv.
It's as good a video source as could be, short of the original master, if it still exists.
>>
>>1487330
Welp, I just tried playing the video in other programs, and it's green there as well.
Dunno why only mpv displays it correctly.
There's something weird about the .mods video's color space, and it carries over to the lossless h264 mp4.
No matter what I try, I either get errors or it's still green.
I even tried converting it to a sequence of images, but it just errors out.
I can't think of any program other than ffmpeg that could read .mods.

I think that video file you uploaded is corrupted. Says "Error" each time I try to render a preview in Topaz video AI. Also shows up with the color issues.
>>
>>1487356
Also tried rendering the video using other formats like some forum suggested and I still get the color space errors.
>>
>>1487356
>>1487357
Yeah, there's definitely a problem with the color space: the blue and green channels are swapped.
Probably a bug with ffmpeg, with how it handles .mods files from NDS games.

This should work: https://files.catbox.moe/3iiif1.mp4
It plays fine in every program I tried.
Since only mpv could display the video correctly, I used it to export into a sequence of images.
Then I re-encoded that with ffmpeg.
It's not really lossless anymore, due to all the color space conversions, but it's the best I can do.
>>
>>1487367
Ok, uploading the files in a bit. Probably within 30 minutes of this post.

3 files are in 720p and one in 1080p
>>
>>1487381
Also I think the 1080p looks good for the input video file being 240p
>>
>>1487379
Excellent! They all look better than even the best result from earlier.
And it was much faster to process, too :)
I'm glad I could help seeing this to fruition, in spite of the color space hiccup.

>>1487382
>240p
Even worse, it's 192p ;)
>>

OP here
Idk if you know how good this is to see clearly. Not only was this shit the first DS game I owned and finished, but I'm still into it to this day, getting to be 16 years later now. This is so amazing! The help is so much appreciated. Thank you all!
