Hey guys, I'm working on a BL novel with heavy philosophical themes and I wanted to ask if any of you have recommendations for a philosophical BL novel / manga. The closest I've read were Heaven Official's Blessing and watched MDZS, and yes these novels are loaded with philosophical ideas.

Can someone please explain to me what is "Homo Yuri"? I got curious after searching up Dhibli doujins. I don't really come here though, but they told me ask here.
>>2836671Anything with the Josou Seme tag.
>>2836842"Homo Yuri" is also called "uke x uke"
>>2836795Been avoiding reading danmei for a while but I guess I'll check it out.
Shame this didn't happen before the mangaka died
>>2836753Nanchan, Dinghai fusheng records, Seizing dreams, even Thousand autumn brings up the question of morality. Just go to NU and browse the BL tags, filter the fast wear novels though
>>2836632Kaze to Ki no Uta is a must for any BL enthusiast. One could literally pick any from well-over 3000 pages of Takemiya's magnum opus, but this one, though comparatively simplistic in composition, still leaves one of the best lasting impressions on how to economically segue from reverie to reality.
>>2836843Back in my day we just called that shitshotaonii.
>>2836842Is homo with "a fluffy femenine yuri-like appeal"Aka: Absolute garbage for tasteless fags and women.I guess back then it was called shonen ai before it became outdated and too vague.
>>2836632>>2836912Speaking of legends, this is the page that convinced me to read Zankoku despite the tragedy. Both Takemiya and Hagio excelled at emotional page composition beyond face closeups. Not to say face closeups didn't become the staple of their manga as well, esp after Takemiya's realization that the more of those she made, the better her manga sold.

>>2836924Some of the pages are funny as fuck, it doesn't help that the second manga becomes a parody of itself. The schizo twins, the sisters, that dumb fuck Ian and everyone in the main character's life was the shittiest part of the manga
>>2836931I agree that some pages aged worse than others, especially because Hagio's art can be a bit stiff. The second part had a couple of redundant characters and it could be shorter, but Ian's plotline itself was good. He was annoying but realistically so.

Your honest opinion of incest?
>>2836972There's no specific tag like this afaik. Josou is still your best bet, if not, 体格 小 (small build) or 美人 攻め (pretty seme) will probably also work. That's for Jap terms, if you want to look on chilchil or sth. English is random with tagging, so no idea there.>>2837049Will read sibling incest as long as the story is okay. You know I'd like to read a BL with a gay guy and a "straight" guy where the straight guy decides to give a try because he's curious but instead of jumping into sex they take it slow and slow get comfortable and do minor stuff until after dozen chapters of build up they actually have sex.
>>2837033isn't this by the nakamura-kun author? mental
pay juné eight fujobux anons it’s worth it for the most relatable awkward sex in BL.
Thanat's futekiya inteview was fantastic and pretty revealing. I didn't realize that the one-armed seme from Perfect Fit was based on Finn from Adventure Time, but Thanat being a westaboo makes sense given the vibe of her manga. https://futekiya.com/creators-corner-interview-with-thanat/
I remember seeing the raw for this but I can't find it anymore, annoying.
>>2837131Pic related very much fits this mold and I'm shocked more anons don't talk about this series despite there already being like 3+ volumes. It's about the relationship between a "straight" construction worker and a gay bartender. The humorous tone, vivacious supporting cast and even the art all are very reminiscent of Hebiko Habuyama's best works, with greater emphasis on slice of life dramas than any relationship angst. Hell, we don't actually get a full-on extended sex scene until the straight guy bottom's for the first time in Vol.3.The first chapter is up on dex, but lamentably the scan team seems to have dropped it. >>2837560There are at least 3BL anime confirmed for this year. They’ll be back.
>>2837560No, it's just that there isn't enough to discuss. It's full of negative people hating on the latest popular series and not interested in latest minor series, half of them hate homo and keep sucking off to the people who hate them to feel superior to other fujoshi.
>>2837560They pop up once per month, because some retards are unable to ignore the retarded spammer and therefore the threads become incredibly shitty. Except for sk8 this season is extra straight, so there's nothing new to discuss

Today I binged the Rules/ Hybrid series by Kano Miyamoto. Christ anons, never have I seen a series go from good, to great, to spectacularly meaningless trash fire by the end. I was ready to reverse my preconceived biases about early 2000’s BL, only to have them viciously reinforced by the end. I’m not even mad or frustrated, just jaded and empty.
>>2837638No idea, they’re all censored unfortunately
>>2837728What was the trashfire about?
>>2837698Yeah, it's kind of a pity given that it's nearly all porn and no other plot.
195 KB>>2837733High school kid has crush on friend, so he goes to Shinjuku gay district and loses his virginity to a bisexual guy 9 years his senior. First volume focuses on the kid and his undefined relationship with bi guy and his unrequited feelings toward the friend. The second volume focuses on the friend discovering his bisexuality after he goes to Shinjuku and patronizes a male prostitute. The rest of the series switches between these two couples. Yes, it does do that annoying trope were even the side characters end up with each other, but it actually gives adequate justification and treats the subject matter of latent homolust seriously. It doesn’t just read like a naked trope.Unfortunately it stumbles at the end of volume 3, and the sequel mangas just careen off a cliff.
>>2837737I was mostly curious what happened at the end that it ruined the manga.
>>2837739Succinctly put, everyone becomes a serial man whore whose actions not only defy they’re own self interest, but basic human logic to the point that they’ve been rendered unrecognizable as characters.

>>2837347Damn was Zetsubou ni Nake a mess. The plot is a melodrama sped up 4x, but with really nice art and sex scenes. I have fondness for imperfect series so I didn't hate it, but it's objectively not well written. It shares a lot with concurrent Kono kiss wa kiji ni dekinai by Nishimoto Rou also in onBlue, where the nicely drawn sex scenes get glued with messy plot and inconsistent characterization.

1/3Firstly, some positives. In terms of technical craft, Etranger is easily the superior production of Blue Lynx's three films.Unlike Clouds Gather and Given, at no point did I feel bored thanks to the vibrant, cluttered visuals and swift editing. The pacing ebbs and flows between each scene transition, which means we never linger on one shot long enough for it to become too tedious or indulgent, though certain sections do feel more perfunctory as a result. Clouds Gather was a protracted, repetitious slog with little development throughout or even a strong visual aesthetic, and while Given had some good cinematography, for the most part, it lacked the more comparatively fluid animation or dynamic composition. Music is serviceable but forgettable.I also feel the film is superior to its source material due to slight changes or removals in adaptation, such as Sakura's attempt to stab Shun, Shun's reluctance to have sex and generally downplaying Mio's sexual orientation.By keeping things vague for the most part and only relying on visual signifiers, it obviates a lot of plot holes and inconsistencies in characterisation that were present in the manga...for the most part.
2/3Unfortunately, while Shun's characterisation and emotional journey are solid, the biggest stumbling block in the manga remains in the film, and that is Mio's transition post time skip from gloomy teen to effervescent manic pixie dream boy - a transition which is only a matter of seconds in film time. While the change is certainly logically possible, and the catalyst even visually signified when Mio has dinner with Shun for the first time, overall it is too abrupt to make his character transition or proclamation of love feel convincing. The story really would have been better served by swapping out Mio's childhood memories of his mother with scenes exploring his time on the mainland and coming to terms with his feelings toward Shun, as Sakura's entrance into the narrative midway leaves no time for their relationship to be explored and essentially relegates Mio to emotional support for Shun.Another grating flaw is that most of the side characters lack depth and emotional range, being nothing more than naked plot cyphers to facilitate Shuns's and Mio's emotional journeys.
3/3Ultimately, the film works much better if viewed more as Shun's bildungsroman than a traditional romance. This is a crying shame because the intimate moments between Shun and Mio are beautifully drawn and depicted, conveying real passion and tenderness miles ahead of most anime couples. The sex scene is a particular highlight, seeing the two boys navigate their boundaries and desires so unguardedly. In moments like those, they felt like a completely convincing couple. Pity that the story connecting these scenes feels like something from a different film altogether. In closing, Etranger is...fine. It's easily the best of Blue Lynx's three productions but despite its merits, and there are some, mostly wallows in cliches and tropes that are old hat for the genre. It may not quite match the romance of Doukyuusei, nor the poetic sensuality of Kaze to Ki no Uta's climax, but it's probably in the top 3 BL films I've seen for what that's worth.Final score: 6/10

>>2837308Just read the first three chapters of this and it's great. Do you know if it's being updated anywhere?

Fucking France getting the good licenses again, reeeeeee
>>2838906Well, at least it means the english scanlation might continue.
>>2838894Is that J in the past!?
>>2838929yup, the chapter promo line is 'A story from the time when anyone could call him by name'
>>2838906Speaking of that, is anyone subscribed do Kaya's Fanbox?
>>2838936Nah, apparently it's just progress pics and not much original content. I'd rather get full surprise when reading new chapters. She's on the lineup for next month's Reijin Uno! so that's what I'm waiting for now.
Opinions on this?
Where do you guys read you BL? Please recommend a good website! Thanks.I would recommend blood link. It is a manhua.
>>2838972actual cancer
>>2838972FutekiyaMangadexand Mangago but you need an account in order to not have ads while readingMyReadingManga is popular too (but banned in my country bc of "child pornography"..)
>>2838971Not the most fascinating story ever, but super cute. I enjoyed it a lot.
>>2838037Wait, what do you mean it's done? I haven't seen updates in months
>>2838972I just read whatevers posted on the Panda.Wish there was an easier way to filter out the Shota from the '''Shota'''
>>2838991It finished a while ago, the final volume is even out in Japan. 10/10 ending if I may so myself.
>>2838991anons stopped translating when it got licensed : (
Why is it so popular? I keep seeing it listed as people's #1 yaoi, and I often see it pop up in the It's time threads too. I'm reading it for the first time right now, but it really feels like the author has never met a gay man ever. Am I missing something?
>>2839016Yes, that normie BL are nearly all shit. It has melodrama, pretend psychology and boring sex, it was bound to be popular.
New Visual Novel licensing survey for Manga Gamer.Any titles anyone is planning to vote for? Lkyt. is likely considering the BL they have done so far but I'm not sure I can think of anything besides that as far as BL goes.https://blog.mangagamer.org/2021/03/01/a-look-back-at-2020-and-the-2021-licensing-survey-begins/
>>2839016You're not really missing anything as far as I can tell. I read the first few chapters and it was okay with nice art, but it got boring for me pretty quickly.
>>2839024They've never licensed anything that was requested. Basically all otome and BL choices are ignored and they just license the thing they want or the things that have been translated ages ago and don't release it for years. Just look at lucky dog 1 announcement
>>2838991BL spaces are full of hysterical moralfags so scanlators drop anything that gets licensed the moment it gets announced
>>2839024I've voted for Lkyt, Uuultra C (from the same author of Hashihime) and Nie no Machi
>>2839071I hate that shit so much. Just fucking finish translating it, christ. And it only happens with BL manga, you never see scanlators drop their scans in other genres.
>>2839016Forget meeting a gay man, I'm certain these authors haven't even had sex yet.
>>2839098To be fair, Shun was a virgin up to that point.
>>2839016You think the MC acts like a straight man? He gives asexual vibes.>>2839098As a purityfag, good.
Seems like everyone is jumping on the new BL
>>2839105new BL?
>>2839105Sk8 is not BL

>>2839105Well, yeah. We've been waiting for the subs for a while now. Now that they're out of course everybody wants to see it.

>>2838341>Etranger is easily the superior production of Blue Lynx's three films. Is this true?
>>2839098It seems to be a common misconception because there are super-thick condoms in Japan for premature cummers, so he thinks that using two will do the same job.
Another cn BL novel is going to be officially translated into japanese. This time it's Guardian by Priest. The rights for its jpn cd drama were bought last year.
Can anyone recommend comics similar to Tashiro-kun, Kimi tte Yatsu wa.?
>>2839165Could you be a bit more specific? What aspect of it did you enjoy the most?
>>2837467Chines translations are already leaking on the usual sites, only a matter of time before some scanlation group picks it up.
>>2839175Hopefully from Jap scans though, I hate threeway translations.
>>2839070Problem is that due to lack of BL and otome releases if you fill out the survey honestly you wind up looking less like a potential customer unless you were buying multiples of whatever gets released.Even when I try to support localization for BL when possible, if you put me next to the guy buying every oppai loli vn I don't seem like someone who should be catered to. These are sort of self fulfilling prophesies of capitalism.
>>2838936I subscribed more out of desire to support her. So far there's nothing terribly interesting, but I'll keep an eye.
>>2839277(Me)I just remembered, there actually is something that might interest you guys: She said that she misses writing dark stories like the ones she used to do in doujinshi but that these days stories that go dark from beginning to end are very unpopular.
>>2839279She's right. 'kurai' is one of the most common bad review keywords I see on cmoa etc. I have to admit that though I liked her darker debut story, I wouldn't want to read a complete downer tragedy even with my trust that she'd execute it well.
>>2839172Sorry! I really liked the comedy aspect. I also liked that there was sexual tension, but I'm not really looking for anything super sexual? Having a sex scene definitely wouldn't ruin it for me, but if that's the main pull, it's not really what I am looking for...
>>2839300Comedy is unfortunately a very subjective thing, but maybe try these?> Ganbare! Nakamura-kun!!>Boku No High Spec Kareshi-sama> Fall of an Immortal >Chiku Bingo>Happy Kuso Life
>>2839302does BL seinfeld style comedy exist

This has been surprisingly good so far
>>2839420This is pretty fine so far. I can see what the mangaka is doing but the writing is clumsy. Interesting though.
For fuck sake.
futekiya is literally having a month of nothing. There's like only three new titles and all of them look like garbage
i forgot this is out
>>2839490Which one is this
Alright this was OK. Seems like the story is heading in the way the blonde has a massive lack of confidence and the other dude is emotionally distract by his father's death and his mother's smothering him so he's not in touch with his emotions. The lack of a sexual aspect to their relationship was annoying especially because they are two adults men.
>>2839507Boku-tachi wa Mada AokuI appreciate BL where it's not obvious who the uke/seme is.
>>2836632Man, Inariya Fusanosuke definitely has some of the best art.
>>2839512Another example
>>2839513>>2839512This is BL!? GODDAMN
>>2839489Who's the author?
>>2839302Tashiro-kun Anon here. I've read Nakamura-kun and REALLY liked it. Couldn't really get into High Spec. I will check out the other three you mentioned. Thanks!
>>2839512Truth. What's your favorite of hers?
>>2839579>Nakamura-kunGreat. Now join us in the eternal suffering that is knowing there's only one chapter of the sequel translated, two more online in low quality, three more that aren't scanned anywhere and the series is on indefinite hiatus!
Was there ever a BL where the 'mysterious first love from high-school' didn't turn out to be the main love interest that the mc somehow failed to recognize? I'd seriously die to see BL challenge this type of shojo trope one of these days.
>>2839593Arguably Heart of Thomas is about a dude who gets confused for the repressed main boy's secret first love who an hero'd. But also not really and I'm sure that's not what you're looking for.
>>2839593The only example I can think of is Unripened Expression, which is a shounen-ai harem.
>>2836632This looks interesting
>>2839642>HaremYou don't see much of those in BL, its kinda a shame.
>>2839656Harem suck and they always end up with the worst guy winning
>>2839489no but i'll give it a shot now thanks
>>2839668>>2839489Wtf is Cat Boys?
>>2839580Honestly, If I had to choose I’d probably go with Hari no Hana, if only because it contains the least of her worst tendencies ( sexual violence purely for shock value, purple prose proclamations of love) and plays to her strengths. Don’t get me wrong, Inariya is probably in the top 5 BL artists of all time, and her dedication to historical and religious research is commendable, but she’s just not a great storyteller.
https://comic.pixiv.net/works/5250Decide to check this one after some anon mentioned it in the previous topic. It's not quite BL but the homo is cute. What's with the release schedule though?
>>2839685I'll try Hari no Hana then. It's been publishing in such a slow pace that I never picked it up before. In genral her storytelling is maybe not exactly bad, just very very oldschool and it never changed with time. She mentioned a few 70's seinen manga that influenced her as a kid and it's visible that her storytelling is a lot like that but with a BL taste.
>>2839693What's weird with the schedule?
>>2839670Cat boys are a sin against all that is good in the world
>>2839648Guy-Man!? Awesome art style though
>>2839662>Harem>Worst guy winningWait a second here.
>>2839714Someone was recommending a series called Cat Boys, not cat boys as a trope.
>>2839733Any series with cat boys in it arouses my ire, and this one has them in its very title. My fury knows no bounds.
Before the re-run, Maiden Rose is obviously Inariya's best work. I consider that work one of the most beautiful yaoi ever written. The story is complex and the characters have depth. Her use of metaphore in her art is second to none. I don't know if any of you still remember her gorgeous spread with Klaus kneeling and kissing Tami's sword while the shadows of birds trapping within the window bars like in a prison. Or my most favorite spread when Klaus hug Taki under the curtain, with three lines of narrative entangling. It is because I hold Maiden Rose in a special place in my heart that the re-run totally disappointed me. The story used to be action driven and explosive. Now she let the couple spend about 10 chapters stucking in a single room, fucking and the pass out and wake up and fucking and pass out. I hope Inariya can get her writing back in the future, because there is still some really beautiful moments in the re-run, like when Klaus sands the sailor's song in flashback. Such a same.
>>2839758The rerun is mostly unfortunate in that it tries to do too many things at the same time, it has to introduce the new readers to the story because most of it is totally unavailable to Jap reader, then it goes to include the continuation that was only published as loose doujin before and only then it turns to actual continuation while still trying to appeal to the new readers without bringing in too much convoluted plot out of blue. I have no idea what happened with the previous publisher but it put Inariya and the story in such an awkward position that I can't blame her that the rerun is a bit tumbly. I just hope it will catch its stride sooner or later.
Anybody else looking forward to Jaxx’s follow up to Walk on Water?
>>2839783I also want to believe that Inariya will find her stride again soon. Don't even know if the re-run gets popular enough for long term publishing and tankobon :( What I am disappointed the most is that she has totally change the course of story compare to the original run, so my favorite chapters (published after the 2nd tankobon) will never be included in this re-run. For example, Taki now finds out about the drug use in the dungeon room, so we will never get this chapter
>>2839796Damn, you're right. The after-sparring scene was so good, I can only hope it'll be reused in some other way. Seriously fuck the previous publisher for letting those chapters get lost, now they'll only live on in scanlations.
