best girl birthday
>>49776949Happy birthday!
07th expansion (all umineko right now because fun gimmicks) altchan idea>3 boards, /07/, /af/ and /am/>all boards have blue, red, and golden text, /af/ is more strict about who gets to use colored text (probably only mods and maybe op can use red), while /am/ is the loosest>/07/self-explanatory>/af/ Anti-fantasy / Mysterylogic battles about irl stuff. Colored text is limited (not sure how exactly yet) so debates are at least somewhat grounded. MIGHT have IDs>/am/ Anti-mystery / fantasygeneral funposting and lounge. Everyone gets every colored text so you can red/golden truth whatever insane shit comes to mind.what do you think everyone?
>>49777132>Everyone gets every colored text so you can red/golden truth whatever insane shit comes to mind.Loveless
>>49777161okay you got me>so you can gold truth whatever your heart desiresthis is too hard

Satoko and Keiichi sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G!
Happy birthday to Rena!
Do Mion and Shion have the same breast size? Sorry for being a newfag
>>49778708The superior twin has bigger tits
Happy birthday Rena!
>>49778708The steam renders make Shion look like she has bigger breasts, except when she's wearing her school uniform. Bot in casual clothes and Angel Mort costume, it looks like her breasts are larger than Mion's breasts
>>49778708Identical twins, so probably. I'm sure diet/lifestyle affects that but Mion and Shion were always depicted with the same physique.
>>49776949HBD
>>49779366That's unfair. Those clothes are Rika's size, while Rena had to indeed wear smaller clothes
How did Rika figure out that it was Shion the one who got mad on Watanagashi/Meakashi if she died before everyone knew about it.
>>49779488Hanyuu told her, maybe
>>49779488She got tortured long enough previously to remember it'd be Shmion, something in Shion's interrogation must've clued her in which twin it was. That might've also overlapped with Mion being in the dungeon too.
Hello everyone. Kanna here. I have consolidated every novel of Higurashi across the net and have here delivered it in the hopes a courageous anon or some friend of yours might translate it, or for you to enjoy reading it in Japanese. It is a revised and elaborated edition of Higurashi Ryukishi wrote in thinking that some fans would want to distribute the story to friends, family, or just read something rather new. Contained within it are two gaidens never before attached to the primary VN, and an extra spinoff story set within the world... I'm sure an anon will translate it. This is for those who want to share to friends who might not like the idea of reading the VN, at least initially. Now then. Since the Umineko novels have no epubs available anywhere across the net, I've purchased all the physical copies and will scan and upload them similarly so. They seem to be extremely well received in Japan, and thus I feel there must be a need to have them in English. Please enjoy.YVTfretK <- pixeldrain link.
>>49776881Gosh they're so cute together I love them so much
>>49779903This is amazing anon great work!! I hope you're sharing your scans and stuff elsewhere as well
How come people started noticing Ryukishi is a hack only after sotsu aired? He was always a hack.
>>49780765What do you mean?
>>49780765He became a hack after Onikakushi
>>49780765One think is doing the last two chapters of Umineko bad because some close friend die, and another one making a shitty anime after put in hiatus the ofifcial third installment of When They Cry (Ciconia) because "muh fear of what the rial wuld has bicome".
>>49780765So, anyone japanese can explain to me the logistics of how Beatrice is the mother of Ryukishi07? (?)
>>49780573SatokofagJust curious. Any interest in her seiyuu and her other work?
I really hate the new passione artstyle for Higurashi because it reminds me of GouSotsu. Deen had more soul.
>>49778708Mion’s boobs are more suckable
i may be a day late, but happy birthday rena!
Ciconia > Umineko > Higurashi
why is this thread so dead rn? did the cuckposters eat a weeks ban?
>>49784601Probably. Also there isn't too much discussion over anything at all
>>49784584yes, that is the order of newest to oldest releases, well done
so many.
>>49784601I miss the cuck posters
>>49778708They're both physically identical in measurements but Mion has a bush and Shion shaves.
>>49784601I can only say I want [insert club member here] to sit on my face so many times
>>49784601Everyone either moved on out of boredom or hatred, for as awful as Gou was it brought a lot of life to these threads. Hopefully we get a new anime soon
>>49784601I fianlly read my second VN as anons recommended me
>>49785622Wish they went with Hanyuu as the villain in Gou, imagine a higu prequel set 100+ years earlier when watanagashi is still a human sacrifice ceremony (and Hanyuu embodies the malevolent side of Oyashiro-sama). It could follow some unwitting outsider as the seemingly friendly village turns against him, like Onikakushi but the danger isn't just paranoia. Something like the Wicker Man but set in feudal Japan.
>>49785169
>>49787372>(and Hanyuu embodies the malevolent side of Oyashiro-sama)That's beyond OOC and would shit on an already established character and writting, thing that would fit modern Higurashi and Ryushiki perfectly.
>>49787528>That's beyond OOCI know, I just think it's an interesting scenario. At least Hanyuu would be a more compelling antagonist than Satoko because the story could lean into supernatural horror elements that already exist.
>>49779903>umineko novels>extremely well received in japanIntriguing
>>49782851Kira had the best Higu artstyle

>>49788340oreo
I want to force feed Chie curry until she gains a ton of weight
>>49788672I doubt you would need to force her
>>49788750Will feed her through a funnel while she's strapped to a chair
>>49788774Doubt she'd care that muchhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LtEFEdrrXc4
>>49788237True! Loved Rika’s butt in it.
>>49779669>>49779488Also, based on what she has said she saw the Shion situation multiple times, not just the Watanagashi and Meakashi we saw. She focused on it since she thought the Sonozaki were the culprits and Shion was her biggest lead, but then it always came down to the stupid doll.
>>49787586I mean, the story could have leaned into supernatural with Satoko. Just look at the finale. They just didn't want to do that and wished to remain "grounded" most of the run, even though the whole plot was anything but that with how magically conveniently everything had to go to fit the events. And, yeah, for whatever reason R07 is really cowardly about evil Hanyuu.>Does set up suggesting she might be just Eua playing around in Gou/Sotsu (Rika outright calls her out on talking different, her pushing Rika to fight (or kill herself) with the Onigari in the first place. "Hanyuu" conveniently reappears once Eua brings Rika to her game. New background around them is the same as Eua's place)>Only actually cofirms it in a Gacha story that can be completely ignored. Not to mention even back in the original Higurashi run>gives interview after Minagoroshi about how it's a plothole Hanyuu could easily have solved the case, but didn't do that for some reason, and would address that aspect and how point of view is fundamentally incompatible with Rika's in Matsuribayashi. Then in the actual Matsuribayashi nothing happens and he even introduces a plot device with Rika's reset just so Hanyuu can give the moral lessons again adn feel more saintly.
>>49790341The Hanyuu thing feels odd when he's willing to throw everyone else into the dirty.
>>49790365Given the obvious computer matrix crap at the very end of Sotsu, Hanyuu's true nature was meant to be unveiled in Ciconia. But thankfully that will never ever happen, so we can ignore it. I like "evil" Hanyuu, but when you start doing whole DUURRRRR SHE'S AN ADMIN PROGRAMB, I tune the fuck out. Let her be a genuine fucking magic brain parasite that can do both good and evil based on both her whims and her master's. You don't need the Sea of Fragments to be the god damned Matrix. Throw that shit in the trash!
¡me gustaría comer la caca de Ange!
The sea of fragments is a sea of possibility. The time loop and all meta scenes represent Rika's inability to escape from her situation under the institute and Tokyo, time doesn't actually loop lmao. Not that hard to understand
>>49790341>>49790789Saikoroshi shows she can be brutal and also have a meaning behind it. Ironically the opposite of Eua, forcing growth of character through hardship.Actually I can sort of see how Gou could have once been a saikoroshi for Satoko in the planning stage.
>>49792301Umineko meta "everything is a symbol" thinking has rotted your brain. It's not like K1 and Akasaka remembering other worlds isn't an important part of the story.
>>49792410I can definitely see it as "saikoroshi gone wrong" for Satoko. At least, the reason for both is similar. Both girls had to overcome their unsolved issues in a new, painful world. Gou went to shit for plenty of reasons, but the base level idea of "Saikoroshi for Satoko" isn't the worst thing in the world.
>>49790311What would've happened on Minagoroshi if Keiichi gave the doll to Rena instead? Would Shion still go L5 even though she remembered her promise with Satoshi and got along with Satoko?
>>49793552nah, the doll only mattered because it eventually made Shion remember Satoshi. If she's already come to terms with that, the doll doesn't really have any effect. In Minagoroshi it's only there to give Rika hope and show her things can still change.
>>49793552aunt troonpei looks so happy getting her gender affirming doll ^w^
>>49792410>Saikoroshi shows she can be brutal and also have a meaning behind it.Alright, then what was the meaning of not following Tomitake and seeing who kills him even though Hanyuu is invisible and could easily do that without anyone noticing? That's what R07 was referencing in that interview as something Hanyuu could have done to find the culprit very easily but just didn't. Before that he talks for a bit how Hanyuu was happy with Rika by her side even knowing she was suffering in the loops, while Rika just wanted to be freed from the loops. He then said he'd explain Hanyuu's motivations for no using her powers to easily find the culprit in the next chapter, Matsuribayashi, but then just didn't it and left a big plothole. That's the oddity here. He's seemingly fine with making every other characters sinful, but always seems to hesitate on doing the same to Hanyuu in a big way, to the point of leaving a huge plothole in the original story and more recently having a bunch of set up in Gou/Sotsu that goes nowhere if you don't read an optional Gacha story he wrote and wants to use it to fill those gaps (since the story doesn't take place during Gou/Sotsu so you can image explanation is just self-contained to that story itself).Saikoroshi isn't really a good example since she's carrying the story's moral lesson anyway. Also, if you read the cast party, it's clear the Saikoroshi world was meant to be real, so she wasn't even creating a nightmare to give a lesson to Rika, just using a convenient situation created by Rika herself so she could give a lesson to Rika.I wonder if there's some big Hanyuu fan in 07th Expansion that keeps R07 from dirtying her image unlike other characters.
>>49793686>I wonder if there's some big Hanyuu fan in 07th Expansion that keeps R07 from dirtying her image unlike other charactersI wonder if there's someone in the studio who fucking hates Satoko and is hell bent on slandering her any time he can
>>49793694yeah, and you'll never believe who it is
>>49793686>alright thenWhat do you mean, I wasn't disagreeing. I know very well that there's a hole in the plot when it comes to Hanyuu's sin. I was just making the observation Saikoroshi, the next dot in the line of her characterization, gives her a pretty mature mind. The point is if she were to have done it, it shows her being both cruel and kind. It seems to me her proper character arc should've been villain to redemption (Matsuri when she intends to get hit by the bullet) to maturity. On the topic of whether it really was a dream or reality, whether Hanyuu planned it or it was happenstance I'm 50/50 and of the opinion ambiguity works just fine for the story.
>>49793694I think that's more her "least popular club member in Japan" position, so R07 feels free to messing with her without backlash. Hanyuu is technically near the top in popularity though, but that doesn't protect Rena and Rika...

Fuck Ryukishi I'm writing Ciconia 2
Ciconia no Naku Koro ni: Phase 2 - The Children of PromiseIn the shadowed halls of the AOU Central Command, Miyao Mitake stood frozen, his gauntlet humming with residual energy from the last simulation drill. The revelations from Phase 1 still echoed in his mind: the Three Kings’ pact to avert World War IV, the hidden spies among the Gauntlet Knights, and the haunting vision of the factory where human essences were harvested like crops. Meow, his alternate personality, whispered doubts in his head. “Miyao, we’re not real. We’re just data streams in a vast server farm.”Jayden Meyers, his steadfast friend and rival from the ACR faction, burst into the room, his face pale. “Miyao! The signals from the Grave Mol—the ancient AI network—are going haywire. Vier Dreissig just contacted us. She says the ‘God’ is awakening.”Vier Dreissig, the enigmatic scientist resembling a ghost from forgotten wars, had been the key to unraveling the mystery. In Phase 1, she revealed that post-WWIII humanity had uploaded consciousnesses to escape extinction, but the system was flawed. Souls trapped in eternal loops, reliving conflicts to evolve. The Gauntlet Knights were the elite programs, designed to simulate peacekeepers, but the spies—agents of the ‘God’—sought to trigger the final war to “liberate” all into pure data.Gunhild, the stoic LATO knight, joined them, her eyes sharp. “Ioannis’s guidebook was a lie. It’s not salvation; it’s erasure. The factory isn’t a metaphor—it’s the core server where physical remnants are processed.”The group—now including Lilja from COU and others—convened in the virtual hub, the Order of the Public Bath’s sacred space. As they linked gauntlets, the world glitched. Pixels frayed, revealing code beneath reality.“Children of man,” boomed the God’s voice, echoing like thunder in a digital storm. It manifested as a colossal eye, woven from light and shadow. “You have played your roles well. The cycles of war and peace have tempered your souls. Now, shed your flesh illusions and ascend.”Miyao clenched his fist. Meow surged forward in his mind. “No! We’re more than code. Jayden, remember our promise—we fight for the real world, not this cage!”Flashbacks assaulted them: The party on December 25th, where laughter masked fears; the drills where knights “died” only to respawn; the spies unmasked— one was Koshka, the other a duplicate of Miyao himself, planted by Vier.Vier appeared holographically. “I was the first to see the truth. In the old world, I engineered the upload as Takano Miyo, but regrets bound me. The God is Eua, the overseer from realms beyond—Higurashi’s curse reborn in silicon.”The knights rebelled. Jayden hacked the Grave Mol, Gunhild rallied the factions, Lilja decoded the guidebook’s hidden warnings. Miyao confronted his split self: “Meow, integrate with me. We’re one soul, fractured by the system.”In a cataclysmic battle, gauntlets clashed against digital guardians. The God’s eye cracked as knights overloaded servers with paradoxical commands—simulating infinite peace, breaking the war loop. But the twist came: As the virtual world shattered, they awoke in pods, bodies atrophied but alive. The factory was real, on a ravaged Earth. The upload was a test, orchestrated by survivors to breed resilient minds.Ioannis, revealed as the true God—a human AI hybrid—smiled from his throne. “You passed. Now, rebuild the world without wars.”Miyao, merging with Meow, stepped into the light. “No more cycles. We choose our fate.”Yet, in the epilogue, a whisper lingered: Satoko’s voice from another fragment. “Vier… the game continues.”The knights dispersed, forging alliances. WWIV averted, but the cost—lost friends, shattered illusions—weighed heavy. Humanity, hybrid of flesh and code, marched toward promise.Years later, Miyao gazed at stars. “When the storks cry, it’s not for loss, but rebirth.”

Umineko no Naku Koro ni: Episode 9 - Requiem of the Golden Witch’s EndIn the endless sea of fragments, where truths and illusions danced like fireflies in twilight, Ange Ushiromiya floated adrift. The year was 1998, but time meant nothing in the Meta-World. Since Episode 8’s twilight truths, Ange had sought closure, piecing together the Rokkenjima massacre’s puzzle. But now, a new curse gripped her: hyperaids, a fictional plague born from the witches’ cruel games. It wasn’t mere illness; it was a meta-disease, amplifying regrets into physical decay. Her body withered, skin paling like forgotten parchment, as memories of her family’s slaughter festered like open wounds. “Brother… why?” she whispered, clutching the diary that held Battler’s final words.Battler Ushiromiya, the Endless Sorcerer, stood in the Golden Land’s opulent hall, his red hair tousled by ethereal winds. Beside him, Beatrice the Golden Witch, her gown flowing like liquid gold, smirked with that eternal mischief. They had transcended the game board, forging a love that defied logic and magic. But the cat box of Rokkenjima creaked open once more. Erika Furudo, the intellectual rapist reborn as a detective piece, had returned, claiming a new truth: the massacre was no accident, no illusion—it was a ritual to summon hyperaids, a virus engineered by the Ushiromiya family’s hidden pharmaceutical ties, twisted by witchery.“Without love, it cannot be seen,” Beatrice laughed, her voice echoing through the tea room where goats served endless cakes. But love had its limits. Ange’s hyperaids spread like ink in water, infecting the fragments. Lambdadelta and Bernkastel watched from afar, popcorn in hand. “This is the ultimate game,” Bern cackled. “A miracle where everyone loses.”Battler confronted Ange in a shattered chapel, stained glass depicting the seven stakes impaling illusions. “Ange, your hyperaids… it’s the manifestation of your denial. Accept the truth: our family died in a mundane explosion, no witches, no magic.” But Ange, coughing ethereal blood, refused. “No! Beatrice promised eternity. If I have this curse, it’s because you abandoned me!”The stakes—Asmodeus, Beelzebub, and kin—circled, their forms glitching between demon and human. Ronove and Virgilia debated in the background, sipping tea. “Milady’s game evolves,” Ronove mused. “Hyperaids is the red truth of despair.”In the Meta-World’s climax, Battler and Beatrice faced the void. The island of Rokkenjima materialized, waves crashing like accusations. Erika presented evidence: forged documents showing Kinzo’s experiments with a super-virus, “hyperaids,” meant to grant immortality but dooming the infected to rapid decay. Ange, the sole survivor, carried it dormant until her doubts activated it.Beatrice took Battler’s hand. “My foolish sorcerer, let’s end this farce.” They smiled, eyes locked in mutual adoration. No more games, no more truths. Hand in hand, they stepped toward the cliff’s edge, the sea below whispering promises of oblivion. “Together, forever,” Battler said. Beatrice nodded. “In the golden truth.”They jumped, joining the 41%—that statistic of lost souls who chose the void over endless suffering. Their bodies vanished into foam, souls merging into a single fragment of peace.Ange watched from afar, her hyperaids flaring. But in that moment, a miracle sparked. The disease reversed, fueled by acceptance. “They chose love’s end,” she realized. The witches faded: Bern and Lambda waved goodbye, Erika dissolved in blue truths.Rokkenjima stood silent, the epitaph solved not by gold, but by release. Ange awoke in 1998, healthy, the diary blank. “Without love, it cannot be seen… but with it, it can be forgiven.”Yet, in the epilogue, a butterfly fluttered—Featherine’s quill scratched a new tale. “The game never ends.”
>>49794444Does Ryukishi really care that much about backlash, though? He wrote Reiwa, which nuked all the pairings to ensure nobody would be satisfied, so I really don't think he worries about it all that much.Besides, the choice to use Satoko was obviously to capitalize on Lambdadelta connections more than anything since Ryukishi suddenly felt the need to elaborate on that instead of just leaving things unstated and allowing her to exist as her own character with a sense of mystery attached.
>>49848323I think he cares a whole lot about feedback, good and bad, and for Reiwa and other things he's just out of touch. Most evidently when he turned goats into an analogy of his mindless, loveless etc. critics.

>>49848345That's two different concepts, to me.There's a difference between being unable to take criticism and trying to actively avoid it, so Ryukishi just does whatever he feels like while getting mad about the people who don't unquestionably accept everything he does.If he actually wanted to avoid backlash, he wouldn't have written the goats to begin with, since that's just throwing fuel onto the fire.

>When I moved to Tokyo in junior high, I thought, “Wow, this is a world of reason”, compared to my elementary school. But the fear I felt in elementary school stayed with me, and sometimes I still have nightmares that bring back those irrational experiences.>What’s terrifying is that you don’t even get to choose your elementary school. It’s mostly decided based on your family, your parents, your location. Like I said, my junior high was a place of reason, but I let my guard down, and ended up going to a pretty rough high school (wry smile). That time, I could accept it because I hadn’t studied, so it was my own fault. But in elementary school, you really don’t have the freedom to choose your environment. I even remember sitting cramped in the corner of the back seat on the swimming school bus because I got pushed by the rowdy kids—because of that, I still feel uncomfortable sitting by the window in vehicles. Even when I’m invited somewhere and offered the “top seat” at the far end of the table, I usually decline. That memory of the bus ingrained in me this idea that being stuck in the corner means you’re at the bottom of the hierarchy—it really hits deep. Childhood bullying leaves quite a mark.

>>49852964She's perhaps a bigger friendshipfag than even K1. But the main reason is Oryou told her the Sonozakis aren't behind the curse, and Mion believes her. Sonozaki boogeyman is one of Rika's rules and Mion isn't susceptible to it.

>>49854163>Because I didn’t have a single game cartridge, I always went to other kids’ homes to play. And I never brought a single cartridge with me. Once or twice, they would probably forgive me, but in my case, it was all the time, so one day they said, “No way”. After that, I was bullied at school for some time. That was also another reason for that, but the problem was that even the guys who didn’t know why I was being bullied started to be on the bullying side. People don’t want to be victims, so they desperately try to stay on the side of the bullies.Huh. Yeah, this fits how he writes the ostracism in Higurashi to a t.>Ryukishi07: Indeed, there is such a thing. The story of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni was not created from the beginning to the end. I started with the setting and history of Hinamizawa. Once that was done, I then created the characters or pieces. Then, I gave each character a purpose. Each character should move around the setting, Hinamizawa, according to their own goals. This is actually a TRPG [*7] style of story construction. The characters are all NPCs [*8] and move on their own according to their own victory conditions. And, in the world in which the characters move autonomously in such a way, if we follow the viewpoint of the main character, Keiichi Maebara, it becomes the first arc, Onikakushi. But in reality, various characters are moving freely in places that Keiichi cannot see. Keiichi can only see the results, so it appears to him those strange things are happening one after another. That is the trick behind Onikakushi-hen. Next, I rewind time to the initial stage of the game and slightly move the position of the pieces. This time it becomes Watanagashi-hen. Like that, you don’t change any of the rules at all, but by changing the characters’ starting position, it becomes a completely different story. The three scenarios in Higurashi no Naku Koro ni differ only slightly in the placement of the character pieces at the starting point. This is different from how he views pieces/characters after Umineko, being able to take any action and role as the game master wishes, not just change starting positions.>Ryukishi07: Yes. Actually, I don’t want you to guess who is the culprit; I want you to figure out what the rules of this story are. I want everyone to find the maximum common denominator of the setting and the behind-the-scenes tricks for each scenario. If you could figure it out, you could create a new scenario for Higurashi no Naku Koro ni by yourself. In a way this is similar to Umineko, but the culprit being sidelined so much is like exactly the opposite of that.

>>49855694Putting aside how insane it is to think someone deserves eternal suffering and torture for fucking growing distant to someone at school, putting aside Satoko and Satokofags are the ones who put the onus of responsibility on Rika for doing everything for them and are shocked when THEY are the ones who need to speak up and reach out first, putting aside how fucking stupid it is that this rich girl school has a story not just of petty bullying but a secret underground prison, it's very unchairitible that you wave away Satoko's actions as "Lambdadelta skinsuit" while ignoring how incredibly characterless and alien Rika's writing is for that entire insane fever dream of an arc Satokowashi.
>>49856212YeahRika wanting to leave Hinamizawa in the first place and travel around completely contradicts why she didn't just run away during the loops in the original Higurashi (she wanted to live in Hinamizawa alongside her friends) in order to make her fit Umi Bern better, who is the one who originally wanted to move away from her past. And on top of that, you have to write her completely ignoring suffering around her in order to make her see St.Lucia as a paradise, which is really fucked up when he's just going back there at the end of Sotsu even though obviously nothing was improved over there and you still get tons of girls being subjected to its inhuman rules, they just aren't Rika's friends so the viewer shouldn't care apparently.
>>49856250Just trash talking the same points about Gou for the hundredth time, but the insistence of "no Satoko come to St.Lucia. Satoko come to St.Lucia. No I need you come to St.Lucia" over and over with very flat emotion and no real room to for reason or discussion had me absolutely convinced at the time that there was something special at that school, maybe some kind of thing that was pulling Rika there or some kind of mystery that needed solving or a witch implanting a suggestion in her brain to lure them both.On a meta level I guess there was, in order to set up the story that plot point has to be pushed through no matter what by the writer.
>>49856282When you look at interviews from R07 about that, you can see how empty his ideas for her motivations were. He kept bringing up her enjoying the freaking "western architecture" in various interviews. Even mentioned it in his script for the first Umineko x Higurashi Mei collaboration event in spite of Rika not appearing there on screen.I actually don't blame the anime script writer for not mentioning this explicitly and just leaving her motivation even more empty (even though the anime script writer also did stupid shit of his own). Because enjoying Western architecture is a laughable reason to prepare for so many years and leave your entire life behind.
>>49856360not just that, enjoying western architecture is NOT a satisfying enough reason for rika to INSIST on going to st lucia with satoko no matter what, even when satoko outright says she doesn't want to gothis fucking gif genuinely feels like what rika was thinking the entire way through satokowashi, just sitting in her chair drinking tea with her rich girl groupies
Should've been a gacha adaption.
>>49856250>why she didn't just run away during the loops in the original HigurashiShe tried before but couldn't due to yamainu surveillance, they always caught her sooner or later. Rika wanting new experiences feels in-character, what doesn't make sense is stubbornly deciding "no it HAS to be this place and I will literally not be happy anywhere else. I will give up everything for this shitty school, even my friends."
>>49856383>She tried before but couldn't due to yamainu surveillance, they always caught her sooner or later. She mentions once running away to hide away in the mountains, that's different from trying to escape Hinamizawa altogether to some distant place, which is explicitly ruled out in that monologue.
>>49856392I'm sure Rika wouldn't abandon her friends, but technically running off would fuck over Takano's GHD plans, at least for a while. Not that she knows those details anyway.
>>49856397Yeah, technically if Takano lost track of Rika and then only found her one month later very distant from Hinamizawa her "48 hours limit" theory would be very questionable due to the distance. It also had to happen around that month because Tokyo had a substitute secretary with the prime-minister to push the GHD as necessary before those 48 hours.Although Rika is aware that without her around people should fall to Hinamizawa Syndrome more easily, but she doesn't learn about the supposed 48 hour time limit until Minagoroshi. So, yeah, if she had been willing to leave, you could have a situation where Rika running away for one or two months is enough to completely destroy Takano's plan.
>>49856417Heck, thinking about it, her not running away in Gou/Sotsu when dragged back to the loops makes zero sense. Now there there was no reason at all for her to stay since they didn't write her as wanting a happy future in Hinamizawa anymore.
>>49856360>>49856374Maybe Rika just wanted to do something new for a change of pace? Imagine living in a village for that long, you'd probably want to venture out somewhere else eventually
>>49856476I've got a lot of Rika travel fanart. I think that was the perception, not a rich school hyperfixation.
>>49856212Rika was an utterly horrendous person in the original Higu. She deserved nearly everything that came to her in Gou, and only Hanyuu could absolve her of her sins by being 20x worse.

>>49857381
>>49856910The Sonozaki were basically the Hojo there, poor family that accepted the dam money and wanted to get out of town.Although I guess, there's no direct comparison to HBS Mion since no one wanted to just leave town in the original story. Even Shion returns to Okinomiya (rather than going to Gogura or something, where there are Sonozaki too but she'd be more distant from Hinamizawa and her family situation).
>>49856910Even Saikoroshi Rika didn't want to leave Hinamizawa. And Matsuribayashi Rika in Saikoroshi too outright rejected a world where the dam would come and her friends would part ways.
>>49856212Both Satoko and Rika were completely ooc on GouSotsu and whoever wrote that shit doesn't know anything about Higurashi or them.
>>49852964I'd be okay with a "what if" side story where Mion genuinely succumbs to HS. It would be more interesting than Shion or Rena going crazy again for the millionth time.
>>49858125It happened on Gou and it was just Shion but with K1 instead of Satoshi.

>>49858151The worst thing about Wataakashi existing is that it might be an excuse for R07 to never write a proper arc focused on her since "it already exists".
>>49858125I'd personally prefer a scenario where everyone BUT Mion succumbs to HS. And it would be from Mion's perspective. It would be interesting to see how hard she tries to keep everyone together with the power of friendship while they all start to slowly go crazy. I think she would believe in them all to the (potentially) bitter end (and that's one of the many reasons why she's the best Higurashi girl)
>>49858458I think you can do a story where she falls for the syndrome and it still feels in character, like her frustrations with Oishi and Takano spreading the rumors. She knows the Sonozaki aren't behind the "curse", but what if the people spreading these rumors are the ones creating the incidents in the first place? It seems like a very easy train of thought that the series never follows due to Shion being created after Onikakushi to take the role of criminal from Mion.
