who's going? what are you going as?this'll be my first con since like 2007.
>>10908494>seattle>weeb conGuaranteed to be terrible. In '07, you could walk down there as an SS officer, or as Schrödinger. What now? Does the liberty police of 2024 even allow entrance into cons with "problematic" pictograms? Kill yourself, people of Seattle.
It's likely going to be garbage. They lost money last year doing a show in San Diego.
I'm confused by why the show runners are simultaneously hosting a K-pop con and sneaker con for the same 2 days using the same venue (Seattle Convention Center). All three groups are going to converge in the lobbies and common spaces, aren't they.
>>10909171More $$$Anime and Kpop fans go hand-in-hand. Sneakerfest is a weird one because poorfag weebs and Kpop stans are the last people you want to try sell overpriced shoes to.
>>10909171it's a money saving tactic. they did this last year too. splitting things three ways is better than a large venue on your own.
>>10908494Will be checking it out, 40 bucks is cheap enough
>>10908716OP here, any suggestions for better WA cons that are coming up this year?SakuraCon's over, but while it was fun last time I went over 10 years ago it was so damn big we waited in line 3 hours despite having prebought tickets, it was so packed you could hardly move, and people kept offering me drugs.
>>10908494What’s the hotel situation? I don’t see a facebook group dedicated to finding roommates. Probably because it’s such a small con..
>>10909723The only con hotel is the Sheraton. The con hotel rate ends on April 26, book now if you want it.
>>10909742Anyone wanna room with me? I’m broke as fuck and I refuse to get a ride.
>>10909742>The only con hotel is the Sheratonsafe bet there won't be any parties then
>>10909747Forgot to post contact info! I’m female if that matters. cscythes@proton.me :)
Hmm, will these be any good? Not exactly sure if I want to go or not. I just went to Sakuracon so...
>>10910110They're small events. Don't get your hopes up. It's definitely not an event worth traveling for, more of a locals only kind of thing
>>10908494I’ll go for a Saturday. Wearing Mayor Cody since I never got around to cosplaying him.
Sure are a lot of vtuber guests. This the norm for Anime Impulse?
>>10910263Vtuber guests are cheap and easy to get because they don't have to actually fly somewhere. Anime Impulse is basically all English guests, cosplayers, and vtubers. They hold a lot of events so they don't have money to throw out for actual Japanese guests.
>>10910263They had a strong relationship with NijiEN. Since the fall out of Salene, they pretty much distanced themselves from them.
>>10910314I dunno about that one...
>>10910364No one is going to show up to this clusterfuck.
They'll be announcing the VA for Marcille (Senbongi Sayaka) next
>>10909723I got a room at the Travelodge by the Space Needle. Within walking distance of the con, has breakfast, pool and stuff. $200 a night, but split between con friends it's cheap. There are cheaper places further away.>>10909889Will message you. Not sure if we still have room.
>>10909660>people kept offering me drugs. This is a bad thing?
HELP. i have a hotel room booked, 2 tickets bought & registered for volunteering. my ride to the con just flaked on me. i have an extra ticket you can have and you can stay in my hotel room if you can give me a ride from the olympia or mccleary area.
I'll be attending on Saturday. Hope I can get some decent photos. Going in my RO Rogue cosplay since I haven't worn it in awhile.
>>10913841nevermind. found a ride. but my ride doesnt want to actually go to the con so i now have one free full weekend ticket i can give away to someone. reply here with a way for me to contact you and i'll give the extra ticket to you
>>10914132sounds like a cool cosplay! i'll try to keep an eye out for you
>>10909171wait a minute.they're hosting all of the cons on the same floor?I was under the assumption that they would be taking place in different sections of the building. What the fuck?
>>10914431Short answer is YESThe main stage at the very top of the map is shared by all of the main events of these 3 cons. Anime Impulse is basically just vendors mingled with K-Pop vendors. They have very little programming of their own, just a place for fans to gather and create their own fun. Also 2 dozen Vtuber guests because they take up no space, just a monitor. The con is also using the rest of the 4th floor, including the outdoor park space. At least weather is decent enough in May that it's likely not incredibly rainy or windy or cold like at Sakura-Con.
>>10914431it's actually a fairly small event. all of their "road show" versions are like this. that's why they're able to have so many of them across the country.
>>10914431crap. i was so blindsided by that it was gonna be my first con in over 10 years that i missed this fact. i hope the people there are awesome because between the travel, hotel, cosplay, tickets and food i am paying way too much for this thing...
I'm local and I paid $300ish for 3 tickets a single night at a hotel. (I'm going with my husband and brother) I'm hoping it's at least decent. We're doing dumb ass dungion meshi costumes so it should go over well?
Anyone wanna meet up? Going both today and tomorrow
>>10914800>Anime Impulse>Decent
Just got back. Con was incredibly mid. I'll process my photos later, though I didn't take too many. Was ignored quite a few times when I was asking for pics.
>>10914498of all cons why did you pick impulse lmaoyou could have gone to sakura con or some shit
https://imgur.com/gallery/anime-impulse-seattle-5-18-2024-XSrFeJdWasn't able to take any decent shots, but oh well.SHADOW WIZARD MONEY GANG
>>10915569Sly cosplayer was cool, even had the sneaking music playing
Got contact info of 5 new people, my goal was making new friends as I recently moved to the US. Volunteered on Sunday, it was surprisingly easy and all the volunteers were nice. All in all had fun but wasn't quite worth the nightmare of 7 hours of public transport after my ride (which would have taken 3 hours) cancelled last minute.Unless I was hallucinating, one person recognized my series and said the name as I went by but no one asked for pics. Costume was falling apart anyways.>>10915452My work didn't let me go to SakuraCon. Not sure if I'll be in the US next year so I decided to try Anime Impulse. I'm going to Chibi Chibi Con this weekend.
>>10915350Sorry post earlier next time, would have definitely met up. I wanted to go out drinking or to lunch in cosplay but didn't meet anyone willing.
The merch was disappointing. Kept my eye on Saturday prices for stuff I was interested in but saw no discounts on Sunday. Almost entirely stickers, keychains and mini posters jacked up to $15-$50 each. Saw a thermos $17 on Amazon marked up to $50. The sword booth was selling $20 Temu swords for $50-$100+. Only saw a couple oldschool series merch besides Pokemon and Sailor Moon, and when I went back later to buy it was sold out. It made me want to become a dealer
>>10915569I WALK INTO BALENCI HAVE THEM WIPE ME DOWN YEAH
>>10915569were masks common at this con? why are people still wearing them is it an anime con thing?
>>10916945I noticed that quite a few vendord were wearing them. People will never stop being terrified of the coof, I guess. I never got vaxxed and I've been fine after all of these cons that I've attended lately.
>>10916945there were a lot of koreans there because there was a kpop convention going on at the same time, and most of the koreans were wearing masks. of the cosplayers very few were.
