Typically Credor buyers fall into the trap of thinking that every Credor is equal in quality to the Eichi II, which is a model they make about 20 of per year.
It's more common in the West, where the first most people heard of Credor is from the Eichi II.

In Japan, it's just seen as Seiko's fashion watch model line selling mostly relatively inexpensive, quartz, women's watches. It's not at all popular in Japan and the brand has next-to-no respectability, as the Japanese still prefer Swiss brands like Rolex, Cartier, and Omega.

>personally im waiting for nomos to fix their lugs (will never happen)
They have the Club and Orion lines that have normal lugs. The Tangente's welded-lugs are integral to its design so those aren't changing.

You're supposed to buy a Nomos in a smaller size than you think, instead of just looking at the spec sheet and buying the case diameter you're used to.
They have very thin bezels so they are all-dial and always look bigger than they actually are. When you get a smaller case, the longer lugs aren't as much of a problem.

you told that other anon that pic is literally you and the model in the photo is wearing a SWAT t-shirt you ding dong lol
>>
>>18121603
if you're trying the manual sync, it works best around midnight-3am, because there's less activity and signals to interfere at that time. also be aware the signal is slow and takes a few minutes to be fully read. other than that, try pointing it out a window or in different directions.

try it outside or near a window, not wearing it, and keeping it still in one place. but might not work during the day. usually if i want them to sync i just leave them on the windowsill overnight and let the auto sync do it

>>

The Divers 65 is 40mm but wears pretty compact. I wouldn’t let the 2mm put you off.
>>
>>18121658
I like the 39mm Longines Legend Diver. It is 12.7mm thick (Of which some is the domed crystal) and only 47mm lug to lug. 72-hour power reserve, COSC certified, 300m WR.

It still has the 60s look, but is more wearable than the old versions. The previous generations sucked because they had an overly long lug to lug. They were copying a design that was intended to be worn over a wetsuit.

The BoR bracelet is in keeping with the style of the period, but it looks really good on a Tropic rubber.

For ~3,000 USD it's a good value, I think.
>>
>>18121658
>Best ~38mm vintage-style diver these days?
The very best is the 38mm Blancpain Bathyscaphe, but that's quite expensive.
>>
>>18121658

These >>18121682 >>18121684 are good.

Also, try looking at the Doxa SUB 300. It is pretty much unchanged from their vintage pieces. They are listed at 42mm but it actually wears much, much smaller. The lug height is only 45mm.

Lots of colors too. Black is pretty subdued if classic orange is too wild.

The bezel is fine. It turns smoothly and it stays in place. You don't need a unidirectional bezel if you're not diving.

Compressor divers are great.
>>
>>18121691
Doxa is a 100% chink brand.
>>
>>18121756
True, but everything else at that price point is as well.
>>
>>18121762
Also true. I just can't recommend them after the chink oem factory used doxa as their example labor lol.
It's one thing knowing that swatch and the other low-tier swiss shite is chink, but then it's quite another when you see proof positive so blatant and in your face.
At least ze germans actually make their crap in their factories as far as is known, though I can't think of anything they have that adheres to that anon's request.
>>
>>18121763
>At least ze germans actually make their crap in their factories as far as is known
I don't think they do anymore, since Walter Fricker closed. All those German brands used to be upfront about using German-made Fricker cases, now they're cagey about where they source them; meaning: China.

Tritium watches?

It was only able to sync around midnight, much less going on. I put it by my window, with the watch face facing outwards per the instructions, and it took about 5 minutes for it to sync. The manual states it usually takes multiple minutes to sync so don't worry about it. I live near DC so if you live in a similar place, it should sync, you just have to wait for night time really

I've been thinking about getting one of these, too, I just wish it had a date. I think the green one is available with a date? But it's an ugly baby shit green.

This is actually something that really drives me crazy about Hamilton, sometimes they almost lock features and accessories to certain dial colors or case sizes. If you want a champagne dial khaki king you can't get it on the bracelet, they only include the bracelet with the black dial one. If you want a Khaki mechanical with a date it's limited to certain colors, and not all of the colors are available with bracelets. It's fucking gay.

You need an external bezel to use it without taking it off every time, that's the issue. If you actually want to use the bezel a normal twist bezel is better. And why the fuck would you buy a watch with features you weren't going to use? -

It always makes me laugh when people sperg out because Rolex doesn't make crazy stuff like metiers d'art or complications or whatever. Nigga if you want an insane watch just buy a Patek. Why would Rolex change its super profitable formula just for you?

I don't understand? Why does it matter if it's popular? Just wear rings and bracelets or whatever you like. And kinda related, since you're someones who sees watches as a fashion item, do you have any interest in horological technology? I've always wondered this about people who are into watches for fashion.

ive watched 82539876983 videos explaining how a mechanical watch works and i still dont understand what the balance wheel does, its hard to tell if it is the thing doing the timing or the escape wheel is the thing doing the timing, and the whole gear train to the mainspring i dont get either, if the escapement is something about giving power to the balance wheel then does that mean the balance wheel is the thing telling the watch what a second is and how many seconds have progressed or is the escapement the thing doing that, as that is the thing that "ticks" im soo confused bros im too low iq to ever understand mechanical watches. for some reason quartz seems simplier to understand i think i got it it goes crystal oscillation > intergrated circuiut > seconds elapsed...???? bros im dubm

>>
>>18122623
It's both. The balance wheel alternates the pallet fork back and forth which works with the escapement wheel to slow down the release of energy from the main spring. Without the escapement the main spring would just dump all of its power all at once, so the escapement controlling the release of that energy allows the power to be useful for timekeeping.
>>
>>18122672
ok so the pallet fork is the tick tock dude that lets the escapement slowly add power to the balance wheel, cool... so where is the seconds???? which piece of the watch in those is tracking the time? ill never understand this shit
>>
>>18122675
It's just based on the gear ratios on the escapement and the train of wheels. In a 3hertz movement the escapement "ticks" 4 times per second, so for every 4 escapement teeth advanced a second passes and the gear ratios on the minute and hour wheels are designed to advance those hands based on that. A 4hertz movement ticks 8 times a second, so the gear ratios are all cut to account for that.If you look very closely at your seconds hand you can actually see if it's 3hz or 4hz because the second hand on a 3hz movement physically jitters 4 times a second as it moves around the dial. That's from the escapement allowing it to move just that much for every "tick."

It's basically a saucer with lugs. It is small, it wears small, but since it's all dial it looks bigger than a regular 38.
>Does it look and feel pretty thin?
I'd say yeah.
>>
>>18122704
Uncultured people don't understand that with almost all things less is more. Yeah, a Daytona is a fuck off flashy watch with a big complication and big buttons and doodads, but Explorer is a refined piece that is a watch distilled down to its most classic and essential form that is still tough and can work in any context. It's truly an every day wearable piece that looks good without being ostentatious and won't have big upkeep maintenance costs.

Imagine a Daytona was your daily wear watch and needing to service it every 3-5 years. The service costs would be outrageous. An Explorer or OP makes so much more sense for that.

>>18122623
The power comes from the spring. If there was no balance wheel, the spring would unwind immediately and the hands would go crazy fast until the spring unwound completely in like 3 seconds. The spring keeps pushing on the balance wheel, but the balance wheel keeps locking and bouncing, only letting the spring turn the hands a little bit so often before it locks again.

Imagine if you were pushing on a door with all your might to try to open it, but your friend on the other side has a doorstop making the door stuck, and he pulls the door stop out one inch every second. Then you're making "ticks" and "tocks" with the door because of your friend's timing. You pushing the door is the mainspring and the friend pulling out the doorstop small bits at a time is the balance wheel. The gear train is just your arms and hands pushing the door.

I wore my GS to a work thing figuring it would fly under the radar like my imaginary friends living inside my computer said would happen, and LITERALLY the first day I did that, one of my coworkers who had never stood closer than about two arm's lengths and with whom I have never discussed watches or "effay stuff" even ONCE was like "is that a grand seiko" and (this part is going to sound like "and then everyone clapped") he actually said "zaratsu polish", a term I never thought I would hear outside of the internet

I wanted to say something about how it was just a 9F shitter but I just mumbled about how I bought it on the internet and then changed the subject but you people fucking lied to me and now I'm paranoid people are going to think I'm either wildly irresponsible with my money (which I am) or that I'm overpaid (which I am not)

tl;dr don't listen to /fa/ or /r/watches/ because nobody except me has ever gone outside
>>
>>18123013
Cope.
Nobody look at your Grand Seiko thinking "woah this must be an expensive watch!". Just ask them how much they think you paid for it, 99% of them will say around $500. Tell them you paid over $5k for it and they'll immediately call you a retard for not getting a Rolex.

See, that's the thing with Grand Seiko. People who don't know shit about watches still know the name "Seiko" because everybody has ever been to a mall looking at affordable watches. Just for that simple reason nobody will ever associate Grand Seiko with wealth, class or fine things.

MALL SHITTER

I put my watches to use, I don't simply store them in a case to look pretty. This is how I was able to narrow down my watches in a way that they fit my exact needs/life style.

When you do this, you realize that a more expensive watch is not necessarily a better choice. For example, I need a watch that can withstand pretty active wear outdoors, looks good indoors and casual settings. The watch you posted certainly wouldn't be a good fit for me.

The SIGNO GCAR965

A dressy leather strap model that combines classic and modern The thin case, which is less than 7 mm thick, is equipped with a high-precision quartz movement with a difference of ± 10 seconds per year. It is thin and fits well in the cuffs of shirts, and is a gorgeous design that is easy to match with suit styles. It is a royal dress watch with a beautiful milky white dial with nuances like porcelain. The crest mark on the dial and the design of the three Roman numerals give it just the right amount of personality. The simple and light case with a spacious cutout and narrow feet makes it a clean and timeless watch.

The escapement nudges (gives an impulse of power to) the balance wheel so that it keeps turning. This video and my prior concerns about such a small new company introducing a new watch with a million dial variants convinced me not to buy an ascent. Watch Lab confirmed their manufacturing and customer service is chinesium tier and for them to launch their second watch with 4 dial variants each in 3 different colors leads me to believe they're either made of money and not afraid to throw it around or they got a really cheap deal on some unethical labor. How can they afford to charge so little on so many variations if the materials and labor and everything is above board?

I like the fake GS patterned dial, but the QC/QA and support in general is shit, as shown in the watch labs video
>buying watches from a watch youtuber
preferable to purple cow kikes who sometimes seem like they haven't had a human contact in 60 years
fagtubers and some more based microbrands are the only place to get half decent features without getting your asshole reamed
even if the QC and support is shitty, it's still a fairly good deal for the price for what you get(I don't care if the price is because of exploiting chink minors)
you can't get a on the fly adjust clasp from ANY "normal" brand for less than 1k starting, if that even
you can't get sapphire crystal from normal brands without paying over 500
some are still even selling fucking folded link bracelets, lmao
fagtubers have sifted through shitheaps of watches and know what fucking matters for the default user, and apparently it's not limited editions in collaboration with some faggot jew or a roodypoo

>servicing a seiko 5
the movement is 30$, if it's from the new ones, if it's an older seiko 5 with 7s movement, I have no idea, probably cost like 15$
have fun comparing to these prices, if they're keeping it for a goddamn month and more, probably gonna try to gyp you
