He introduced a new heroine to make up for less Hiyori (Renge), but then does nothing with her.I think with Tsurugi he did have plans and mostly followed them (learning the commoner lives and then befriending Kagami, who gets mixed feelings due to learning his secret, alongside having a crush on Misaki). The problem is just that his take and goals for Tsurugi were completely different from Inoue's, who wrote Tsurugi's intro and final arc (But Yonemura was supposed to be the main writer, not Inoue).

There was a post-Kabuto short story Yonemura wrote half-way through the show that just starts with them being a couple already like he was expecting that would have been established in the tv show rather than it being meant to be something new in the novel. It got included as part of the Kabuto novel later on and slightly written to introduce the post-series status quo as a new thing, since by then he knew it wasn't part of the show.

Its mainly the singing career for Drake's voice actor though.
