It was supposed to revolutionize transportation. What went wrong?
I thought the guy died when his thing drove off a cliffAlso balance electric vehicles are very common now so it looks like it kind of did?
The actual fast version they wanted to sell.... turned out to be impossible to sell outside of USA without registering it as a moped. At which point it basically was horribly overpriced for competing against guided tours as a group. Also US law on pedestrian vs sidewalks vs motorized vehicles didn't help, which is also a global issue. Also too expensive back in the day. There is a reason why e-kickbikes and hoverboards only saw popularity AFTER BEV adaption had started due cheap 18650 cells.
>>1996146>What went wrong? It didn't realize it was a stop-gap solution for the eventual electric unicycle and balance board split, so it became an artifact of an era. A /v/ analogy would be like how RTS games split off into MOBA and 4x, with old-school RTS being an artifact of a bygone gaming era. Nothing inherently wrong with Segway style balance boards but compared to newer designs, it seems antiquated.
