I saw a hotwheels of one of these in passing while I was grabbing groceries the other week, then saw a real one on the way home in the same color. The synchronicity bumped them way up in my estimation, they're fucking sick.

I worked at an independent Porsche shop as a Service Manage in New England (AMA) I won't be posting any pics of the shop but just random Porsche photos I found online. The shop I worked at specializes in building, maintaining Porsche's. (also doing track preparation) We worked on anything from a Porsche 356 all the way up to the modern Porsche 992.

>Yes, and I have the (mis)fortune of seeing those guys test driving customer cars bow and again. They drive them like complete dickheads; I wouldn't let those guys drive my econobox daily, let alone my Porsche.

uh anon, the customers know they test drive their cars. All shops do this, even the shop I worked at did that. If a customer has a problem where the car is still drivable and the owner doesn't know what the problem is with the car, how else are they supposed to diagnose it? say if its a weird sound coming from the suspension?

Let's say they fix it or put new suspension it the car, how the fuck are they supposed to dial the car in without driving it?

I doubt you have a 911, you probably are some jaded 944 owner. hence why you mentioned you have a Porsche and not the specific model.

the Porsche 944 is a great CAR. Even better if its the Turbo variant but here's the thing with 944's.

the trajectory of the average Porsche 944 after the first/second owner only has gone DOWNWARD. Depreciate hit like crazy. People picking them up in the 90s/early 2000s for little to nothing thinking "Hot damn I can own a Porsche for cheap" then shit breaks down and if they wrench, they are still too afraid to work on the car or they dont want to pay the insane prices of sending it to a dealer/indy Porsche shop because at the end of the day its still a Porsche.

fast forward to today where a lot of these cars have been sitting for 15+ years, some 20 something year old kid see's it on some dudes property with a "for sale" sign and hes only asking $1500 for the 944 so the kid is like "wtf thats cheap, I can get it running!

but they do no research, and in some cases they do get it running but for mostly they bite off more than they can chew and realize how its going to cost at minimum $15k - $20k to get a somewhat well sorted 944 and after spending all that, the car is still worth about $12k.

yeah I see this shit happen often.

tl;dr Dont buy a 944 unless you can afford 2 or 3 of them and you're handy and have a lot of tools

ok I'll take the bait, first off a 128i that comes with the 228hp is an OK car. Personally I dont like the N52.

Comparing a somewhat modern entry level 1 series to a 30/40 year old aircooled 911 doesn't make any sense at all. They dont even have the same demographic. That being said the aircooled 911 will sound better, look better will have better driving dynamics, better aftermarket options. Also the 1 series kinda look like a chode. 911s are not a pain to maintain, although I wouldn't own one without owning a lift.

yeah nah, at least the boomers' homage will see the road every weekend.
Imagine paying 500K plus for a car and then just rubbing your cock on the bumpers all day.
Prices are ridiculous in Au. you can import from the UK with 25% duties and turn a decent profit.
Everyone knows RHD is the superior choice, imagine using your dominant hand to change gears instead of on the wheel, lol.
Old porkers are great, original or restoed, I see restos shit ya, so I'll be bumping with them for the rest of the thread.
picrel sold on BaT for 250000 US buckaroos, 374000 aussie.

Supply and demand.
Picrel is your future, 996 backdated to 993.
I'd tell you to start buying 996's but the bottom for them was 5 years ago.

no desire for 911, plenty of cheaper alternatives that have a charm of their own.

huh, im curious where'd you get the half a million dollar figure from?

You know not everyone who owns a old 911 has a singer right?

most people unfortunately have bone stock 911. And when I say bone stock I mean all the worn out blown the fuck out bushings and suspension components. There's no need to go overboard but a simple refresh of the suspension and engine rebuild goes a long way and doesnt cost half a mill.
