I had this game as a kid but never played it because I hated dykes

The zelda clone comparison isn't great. I played it for the first time recently and besides the driving controls being crazy tight for the time it came out its nothing special. There's a forced stealth section towards the end that soured the ending. Also the combat is weak even by Zelda standards.

Yes, and this surprised me.

Again yes, it's one of the few genuinely great games that actually properly takes after Zelda. It doesn't quite have the depth of the best Zelda games, but what it does do is extremely well executed.

I absolutely loved Beyond, the atmosphere + design + characters are fantastic, but yeah the stealth sections at the hand filtered me for many years.

The first few stealth sections were okay, whatever, kinda neat.

But then they put so many of them next to each other, that are almost impossible to beat and returns you to the start.

I got filtered hard, it was just boring.

Years later, with emulation, I savestated my way through it just to see the ending.
