Shadows of Brightreach was the best one I played. Also Depths of Darkness, which is based on Sunless Citadel module.

Haven’t played in a while though. Like over a year. Real fucking neato about having user made shit though.

Shame about the faces and pronouns. Which is what vrpg will focus on and shit themselves over.

It is a dungeon crawl at its core which is good. The story, characters, and writing are all dogshit. But the combat is solid despite being 5e.

It is the type of game where you just fight shit, level up, and look for loot. The saving grace of this game is the campaigns people make. They tend to have shit stories, spelling errors, etc but they provide endless dungeon crawling.

Personally, I like to do paladin, cleric, bard, wizard, but same archetypical roles
Also in (((5th edition))) clerics can use whatever weapons they want. Hell, if you identify as a heckin' wizard with heavy armor proficiency, then that's totally valid, too.

While most of your points are accurate, they didn’t “remove most of the content” of 5th ed, they couldn’t get the license and so they were stuck with the minimal open source version of the rules and hence had to fill in the gaps with homebrew. Also, it was in early access at the same time as bg3, and bg3 had a shit jumping mechanic (manually order each party member to jump across a gap one at a time) and Solasta had a superior “issue one move order for party and they all jump across” which bg3 blatantly copied after criticism, which is funny.

They said it was because they had a tool that should produce faces and thought it worked. By the time the game released, they found out it sucked but no time to fix it.

You can import portraits into the game with the mod. So for user material, the faces don't matter as much. Only see them in the inventory screen.

This is a completely over-the-top kneejerk reaction. I never even said Solasta was good, or that BG3 was bad, simply that it was funny that the bigger budget game did something poorly and copied the better way that the smaller budget game did.

They aren't going to deliver a good story. They have a much lower budget. The appeal of Solasta is the combat and character building. They need a ruleset that is best for combat and full party creation.

Do not do this, same with war cleric. That are bugged. Both have aura ability and game tries to reapply it witch each step your heroes take and this kills performance. I had problems to run the game, until I respeced both characters and it went back to being fast and stable.

I don't have that aura problem anymore. Used to but haven't since palace of ice at least.

If your game starts chugging then a restart of the game always fixes those issues for me.
