What went so right?Get the Unfinished Business mod and it is legit 9/10
already beat three of it's campaignsAny good custom campaigns around?
>>3474263Shadows of Brightreach was the best one I played. Also Depths of Darkness, which is based on Sunless Citadel module. Haven’t played in a while though. Like over a year. Real fucking neato about having user made shit though. Shame about the faces and pronouns. Which is what vrpg will focus on and shit themselves over.
>>3474231Is this a good game
>>3474231Was so disappointed by the snow dwarves, thought they were meant to have that unique bluish look instead they turned out generic nordic shorties
>>3474231Hope the sequel has a bigger budget
>>3475236No.
>>3475276They won't need to kickstarter this time. Money in the bag.
>>3475236Yes.
>>3474231Was always put off because it all just seemed like a dungeon crawl. Is that the case or are the writing and characters half decent?
>>3475383It is a dungeon crawl at its core which is good. The story, characters, and writing are all dogshit. But the combat is solid despite being 5e. It is the type of game where you just fight shit, level up, and look for loot. The saving grace of this game is the campaigns people make. They tend to have shit stories, spelling errors, etc but they provide endless dungeon crawling.
>>3474231>Wizard, fighter, cleric, thief.>You can tell she's a cleric because she has a fuckoff hueg warhammer instead of a fuckoff hueg sword.D&D has a lot to answer for.
>>3475835She’s another fighter with a maul, bro. That’s plate armor too.
D&D shovelware
>>3475930>shovelware
>>3475835>Wizard, fighter, cleric, thief.Let me guess, you need more?Personally, I like to do paladin, cleric, bard, wizard, but same archetypical rolesAlso in (((5th edition))) clerics can use whatever weapons they want. Hell, if you identify as a heckin' wizard with heavy armor proficiency, then that's totally valid, too.
>>3474231I like the art direction. I'll check it out.>it's a fucking grid-based tac-combat gameNope.jpg
>>3476360>likes the awful art direction>isn't a tactical turn-based chadngmi
>>3476360Rage against the grid. Free form combat, but still turn based.
>>3474231I have a soft spot for the little quirks your characters have, especially for being all user generated. I hope a sequel builds on that along with any thing else they might do.
>>3476653Full party creation is superior.
>>3476658Maraike watch over you
>>3475813Damn.Sounds like it's good for what it is but not necessarily up my alley
>>3474231It had the best party banter. It actually felt like a team, rather than just one character and his simpering harem.
>>3474231>5eNo
>>3476949>>3476653>he little quirks your characters have, especially for being all user generated.>the best party banterSo the custom party aren't just mute meat-shields/kill bots?Neat, might have to change my stance on this game (>>3476896)
>>3474231Honestly nothing. It's not even a good implementation of 5e and all it did was attract a small handful of extremely mentally ill content creators who present the game disengenuosly.
>>3474231Ugly, empty, clunky unity slop and very overpriced
>>3477067>not even a good implementation of 5eSeriously, nigga? Yes, it is. No need to be a contrarian to this degree. All content creators and modders are mentally ill. That's how they can stand doing what they do.
>>3476658Full party creation is necessary. But make it five or six for the next game.
>>3474231>What went so right?I don't know, what DID go right?>shit gameplay (5e which is already bad enough, but they made it even worse by removing 90% of its content)>shit writing>shit graphics>shit level design>incredibly shit voice acting>the worst cinematics ever created>intentionally ugly characters
>>3476949>It had the best party banter. It actually felt like a teamYeah, until you start a new game and you realize all the "banter" is just random lines assigned to random characters and things like class, race, skill, personality traits, etc. almost never factor into it.
>>3478109It is impossible for me to take seriously anyone who says this game has shit gameplay.Plenty of things to criticize but not that. Too many cynical retards here.
>>3478109While most of your points are accurate, they didn’t “remove most of the content” of 5th ed, they couldn’t get the license and so they were stuck with the minimal open source version of the rules and hence had to fill in the gaps with homebrew. Also, it was in early access at the same time as bg3, and bg3 had a shit jumping mechanic (manually order each party member to jump across a gap one at a time) and Solasta had a superior “issue one move order for party and they all jump across” which bg3 blatantly copied after criticism, which is funny.
>>3476949>>3478112>roll, among others, a cleric of Einar>play tutorial>"Nobody believes in [beast], except for those nutjobs at church of Einar" he says>uninstall000.exe
>>3475232>Which is what vrpg will focus on and shit themselves overBut why do you care so much? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
>>3474231>>3475236No.
>>3478365I can't take anyone who says it has good gameplay seriously.
>>3479225I take your mum seriously. If ya know what I mean.
>>3478540You're retarded. Solasta did not invent this simple QA feature and has no right to monopolize it in any way.BG3's scope is much bigger so it's a given that the release EA version of it would have different priorities.
>>3479870Perhaps it is you who is retarded, anon? Bg3 was a huge game with a huge budget made by experienced devs working on the same engine as their previous title, and Solasta was a tiny janky game made by inexperienced literal whos, which is why I said that it’s funny that they came up with a more elegant solution that the larger game then copied. No one said anything about “monopolizing”. Unclench your sphincter, Mr. “BG3 devs had different priorities, like adding non-binary feminine penises and vitiligo sliders”
>>3479877BG3 introduced a simple and obvious solution to a problem early into the EA, yet you're acting as if Larian stole Solaturd's lunch money and then deny that you do.>b-but muh trannies!Mindbroken.
>>3479891>the solution was so simple and obvious that Larian couldn’t think of it themselvesWhy are you so emotionally invested in defending a video game company on the internet against even the most mild criticism? What manner of autism compels this?
>>3479894Criticizing Larian because they did not implement the automated jump back in 2020 during the EA release is one thing, but claiming that they copied it from Solasturd is just ridiculous. I am dumbfounded by your stupidity, that's all. You're the one who brought up BG3 out of the sudden btw.
Every couple of months the solasta schizo makes a couple threads on this and nwn, talks to himself, then fucks off
>>3479913Every couple of months this place has a nuclear meltdown that someone likes Solasta. Which is humorous.
>>3478938is there a reason they never decided to fix the facesis there a reason why anybody hasn't fixed the faces yet
>>3480017They said it was because they had a tool that should produce faces and thought it worked. By the time the game released, they found out it sucked but no time to fix it.You can import portraits into the game with the mod. So for user material, the faces don't matter as much. Only see them in the inventory screen.
>>3479912The reason the two games were compared and contrasted is that they were both turn-based 5th ed RPGs that were in early access at the same time, and many people played both of them around the same time. There's no need for ridiculous fanboy mental gymnastics like>Solasta did not invent this simple QA feature and has no right to monopolize it in any way>BG3's scope is much bigger so it's a given that the release EA version of it would have different priorities>BG3 introduced a simple and obvious solution to a problem early into the EA, yet you're acting as if Larian stole Solaturd's lunch money and then deny that you do.>Criticizing Larian because they did not implement the automated jump back in 2020 during the EA release is one thing, but claiming that they copied it from Solasturd is just ridiculous. This is a completely over-the-top kneejerk reaction. I never even said Solasta was good, or that BG3 was bad, simply that it was funny that the bigger budget game did something poorly and copied the better way that the smaller budget game did.
>>3481587Welcome to arguing with moeblob. Dude is mental.
>5th ed is explicitly designed to streamline and minimize dungeon crawling and fights, to "focus much more on narrative and identity">make a 5th ed dungeon crawler with minimal storyWhat the fuck where they thinking?
>>3481623I don't see how 5e could be said to have accomplished a focus on narrative and identity. A dungeon crawler with minimal story is (sometimes) what I'm looking for.
>>3476367nigger fighting a group of mooks shouldn't take longer than a minute or two but turn based turns every fight vs enemies no matter how inconsequential or unchallenging they are into a slog that takes longer than it shouldRTWP or hybrid games that have both are the best
>>3482395>shouldn't take longer than a minute or two
>>3482395how long did they have you on amphetamines? or are you still taking them?
>>3481862But it succeeded on minimizing fights, that's the important part. They should've picked any different system and it would've been much better.>>3482395A good cRPG shouldn't have trash encounters in the first place. You don't want a cRPG, you want a hack'n'slash like Diablo or Torchlight. Go play those, you'll be much happier.
>>3482699My heart says they should go with a different ruleset. My brain says business risk increases substantially if they don't go with dnd again.
>>3482699Which ruleset to adopt if it is going to be a heavier focus on combat, which is clearly what this developer is going to need to lean into? They aren't going to deliver a good story. They have a much lower budget. The appeal of Solasta is the combat and character building. They need a ruleset that is best for combat and full party creation.
>>3482396>>3482404>>3482699non-sequiturs and non-arguments, i accept your concessions
>>3484301Turn based that takes a minute or two is a final fantasy jrpg random battle. Not a true dungeon crawling TT type of experience.
yeah but what's your pronoun faggots?
>>3475813>writing are all dogshitYes, but it is so bad that it crosses threshold into "comfy".>>3476225>paladinDo not do this, same with war cleric. That are bugged. Both have aura ability and game tries to reapply it witch each step your heroes take and this kills performance. I had problems to run the game, until I respeced both characters and it went back to being fast and stable. >>3478938How this happened will always remain a mystery.
>>3484642I don't think pronouns even get referenced in the game beyond the character creation. It is pure cringe though. A blight upon an otherwise good low-budget game.
>>3484660I don't have that aura problem anymore. Used to but haven't since palace of ice at least. If your game starts chugging then a restart of the game always fixes those issues for me.
