Currently playing through ultra sun and the customization options are kinda lame. Are they any better in scarlet/violet?
>>3887384There's more options when it comes to designing your boy, plenty of haircuts, freckles and other facial gimmicks. You can buy hats, gloves, shoes and bags but you can only replace the uniform for other uniforms (there's like a dozen of them). Personally I used Florian's default look for all the game and just changed him into his winter uniform. He's also surprisingly expressive compared to previous protags.

>>3887345Kieran has a bit of an overdesigned issue. A lot of the better Pokemon designs are those that can balance simplicity with pleasing aesthetics. Anytime that the artist go a bit too big, it just becomes too much. This is true to both the monsters and the humans. For the DLC, I think Crispin is far cuter, and that is in large part due to a better design philosophy than Kieran's "barf all over the character model, twice" approach.

>>3887849It's important to remember that a) GameFreak aren't very good at making 3D games, b) SV is probably their most ambitious project by design, and c) it was predominately developed during the pandemic with no delays from their usual 3 year development cycle. To day that corners were cut is an understatement--they promised a cube and handed over a sphere. While the game has the most extensive character model editor, they clearly did not have time for rigging wardrobes, so it's uniforms for everyone.
