There was that part when you meet your mom who's the leader of Paros, in conflict with Naxos, so you spend some time helping her, but I had already 100% both inslands before so it wasn't as special as it should've been.
Also the ease of movement feels antithetic to the time period, back then travels were actual journeys, you had to comit to them, but there you have a ship and can just frome Crete to Lesbos, then to Sparta in a jiffy as if you were plane hopping in the XXIst century, feels jarring

I think there's something to be said for how the borderline regressive queerbaiting is taken to be more serious and worthwhile than WFM, and part of that is that one is about men and one is about women (the other major factor being east vs west bullshit). It's kind of comparable to the people who watched WFM for the Jeturk brothers and didn't give a shit about Suletta and Miorine. There's just a lot more patience and interest afforded to male characters over female ones.
