>Art brings self fulfillmentMy ass. This shit is demoralizing, I've been drawing for over 20 years and I still hate my work. But I've sunk too much time into this hobby. I'm fucked aren't I?
>>7156383PYW or get the fuck out
>>7156388Here
>>715639220 years just to end up drawing cartoons lol. It's not bad though.
>>7156392That's pretty cute. Not impressive or anything but cute. Why don't you like your work?
>>7156383>I'm fucked aren't I?if you've exhausted all your options to improve your art and/or your relationship with your art, and you plan to persist because you're stuck in the sunk cost fallacy, then yes. otherwise there's still hope.
>>7156383>Art brings self fulfillmentyou were supposed to be having fun
>>7156383>I've been drawing for over 20 years and I still hate my work.>I've sunk too much time into this hobby.>hobbyIf it's a hobby, you can just drop it. Stop forcing yourself to do something you dislike. Pick up coding, or whittling, or playing an instrument, or anything else that doesn't make you miserable. It'd make sense if this was you're profession, but to cry about it when nothing is forcing you to draw is kinda stupid.Put down the pencil, and pick up something else that will make you happy.Who knows, some time away might make you fall in love with drawing again.
I'm starting to learn Japanese and it's been a while since my brain hurt.
>>715639220 years and you are drawing late-z or gen-alpha cartoons? what age did you start?
>>7156483I didn't realise that enjoying the 'current thing' was something that was age-gated anon.
>>7156487You should be drawing ninja turtles or batman. that's why you hate your work, you are not giving your inner child what he wants.
>>7156487I still haven't' seen this in my recs but see the character around here. what is it?
>>7156493I haven't watched it either, but it's called "The Amazing Digital Circus". There's two episodes so far. I should give it a watch some time.
>>7156383Creation always requires suffering.Your pain has meaning and purpose through art. You get to suffer to create. You get to suffer for the privilege of depicting your soul in your creation. You get the privilege of revealing who you truly are, and others will have the privilege of looking at you and your art, commending you for your suffering, as only someone who's been in pain for two decades could create as you do.Why not embrace it?
>>7156404>funSo disingenuous. It's only "fun" if you're satisfied with your current skill level. The only people who have fun are too ignorant to see the flaws in their work to improve.
>>7156392Looks fine to me, what’s the issue?
>>7156788if you arent having fun with what you do, you wont continue doing it. Those who enjoy what they do will continue, flaws or not. those who continue will get better. You will not.
>>7156788Absolute loser mindset, if you can't have fun while still seeing what you can do better next time you're doomed to fail at life as a whole
>>7156788I would try to say it in a less hostile way, but I more so agree with >>7157615. I'm sure other anons would say they have a similar experience, but I generally enjoy drawing even though I've yet to make anything which fully possesses the sort of quality I would like my drawings to have. I'm having fun not because I think everything I draw is perfect, but because I'm gradually getting closer to my goals.
>>7156788this sounds like a beg take to me. if you're criticizing your shite while you're working on it then you're doing it wrong. (what is flow state)
>>7157621I'm think every single sadsack faggot should be bullied as hard as possible.
>>7157634I can definitely appreciate that sentiment, as I have done a fair bit of bullying myself on here, but I personally don't think it's the best way to go about something like this. we can agree to disagree.
>>7157639In my experience 99% of people who do this pissy kind of routine are just vampires out to drain you of attention and drag everyone around them down, never people actually looking for help.
>>7157642>In my experienceI feel like mine is about the same. I'm not entirely sure why I qualified my post with saying I wouldn't have worded my thoughts quite like you, but I just feel like I should be above going tit for tat with these people. though, again, I've done it for some time, in recent history, and wouldn't be surprised if I did it in the near future haha.
>>7156392You need about another 20 years furry
>>7157615It's the opposite of a loser mindset. It's the mindset of someone who wants to succeed and improve. You should be getting mad that your work isn't good enough. You shouldn't be having fun. You should always look for something to improve, otherwise you won't get any better. It's no coincidence that people who say they're having "fun" artwork look like shit. Because when they say they're drawing for "fun" it means they've given up on trying to improve or are satisfied with their current skill level. Which there isn't anything wrong with it, but It's a quitter mentality that will lead to stagnation and mediocrity. How much "fun" will you have drawing the skull wrong for the hundredth time? How much "fun" will you have after hiding the hands for the 500th time? How much "fun" will you have drawn out of perspective for the 1000th time? "Fun" is just an excuse for lazy people who don't want to work to improve their art. Because putting in the time to improve is a lot of work. And work is not fun. It's work.
>>7157674If you don't want to read all of that. A loser is someone who says, 'It looks good enough,' while someone who will succeed says, 'It's not good enough.'
>>7157674>You should be getting mad that your work isn't good enough.getting mad isn't going to make you a better artist. what makes you a better artist is putting in the effort. if you are content with your skills you will not make those improvements, but you don't have to be angry at your art to earnestly want to make improvements.>It's no coincidence that people who say they're having "fun" artwork look like shitdude, most people who make art - regardless of whether they're having fun - draw stuff that looks like shit; and there are people who have actual skills who don't necessarily enjoy making art. you're (perhaps willfully) ignorning the fact that you can enjoy making art without liking the final product and want to make something better in your next attempt.
>>7156483Dog it's what get's the most views and that show is not bad
>>7157674Why is it always one extreme or the other? By your logic you can never have fun with art because there's always something you can improve. Sure, work is not fun, but applying what you've learned from said work definitely is. And even then, stuff like landscape studies and master studies are fun to me in their own way as well. I cannot fathom why you would continue to do something that you actively hate doing.I think you are conflating "drawing for fun" (aka as a hobby without any desire to improve) vs just finding the act of drawing fun. Also obligatory PYW since I'm sure someone who has no fun drawing surely has great art.
>>7157674art isnt work. its passion. i like doing it. it is fun. you are deranged
>>7157674>It's no coincidence that people who say they're having "fun" artwork look like shit. It's literally the opposite, the people who say they don't have fun and don't find art "self-fulfilling" always have completely soulless art. Case in point: OP
>>7157700>that show is not badokay zoomer
>>7156392>20 fucking years just for thisI would honestly kill myself on the spot
>>7156383Extremely fucked, I'm more than 28years into this shit and I don't know anything else, I'm starting with 3d but that is going to go as well. We are fucked big time
>>7156383>>7156392It's okay, but maybe you'll enjoy it if you git really gud.
>>7156392Do you have any original stuff?
>>7157680This is true right up to the point that the mental illness kicks in and you neck yourself because you drew an eye too small.
>>7156392I have a hard time believing that you drew this because you love the character or the show. Are you chasing trends because it's trending? Because there's your fucking problem you imaginationless culture slop zombie.
>>7156392Cute
