More TTRPGs should use the GIFT attribute.

It represents Appearance, Charisma, Spirit and Luck. While in most games these are separate dump stat attributes and/or advantages you can separately buy, in games with GIFT they all come in a nice package that makes the attribute useful and not just something you can mindlessly put leave at a minimum.

Possible uses: reaction rolls, social rolls, animal and wild rolls, magic rolls (casting spells, using some martial techniques, using some itens and objects, getting that sword out of that rock, etc), bonus experience on character creation, being the default roll for whenever you don't know what to roll, etc.

With GIFT, your character is built different ;^)

Why do you stupid fucks keep posting modern art? This thread should only be for classic fantasy art.

I'm struggling to understand why tabletop gaming and particularly wargames like Warhammer can be so pricey. I've found that to start playing I need to shell out around $300-500 just to get a single army and on top of that I also need to buy paint and rulebooks. Let alone wargaming the core books for D&D in my country cost a whopping $180. And let's not forget the additional expenses for maps, item cards and paper minis(cheapshit but it works). It's mind blowing how expensive this hobby can be

>>

GW's minis suck but for many other reasons. Cartoony proportions aren't one of them.
Perrys' miniatures are actually really good, especially for the price, but over all more exaggerated minis are better for painting, playing and displaying.

I completely agree. And being a weabuu, you could have cute anime characters as pilots on the character cards. Weve already seen so many Gundam games do a good job of pulling a "greatest hits" of all the different gundams from history, it wouldnt need to be lore friendly at all. Just collect your favorite gundams and have them fly around a battlefield.

This just sounds like you guys want SCP. There's tons of mediocre sci-fi and urban fantasy stories that have some super secret organization.
Also it's not hard to do international operations in DG you just have to do some research.
>>
>>92823106
>Why does everyone want every country to have their own law enforcement?
>The CIA, FBI and NSA already DO that job.
There is of course on obvious flaw in this argument.
You also still haven't made an argument for why they WOULDN'T have a DG equivalent.
>>
>>92823106
Organisations like PISCES and GRU-SV8 already exist in the setting. It's not a leap to assume other countries have similar organisations in place (ideally not compromised by brain bugs)
>Also it's not hard to do international operations in DG you just have to do some research.
In all published material so far, DG only operate internationally wherever there are official American interests (ie American forces at war). In The Last Equation where it's possible for a memetic infection to spread abroad, investigators are explicitly told to only focus on the American vectors. With this we can infer that 1. DG is a strictly American organisation and 2. There would be jurisdictional issues arising from international operations which would necessitate other countries having their own defence programs should they have the means to have one. It would be both logistically ineffective and politically embarrassing to rely on another country fixing all your problems

There's a pretty good example of existential horror in ancient philosophy, with the Pythagoreans.
Their entire philosophical school was based on numbers, how you could find them expressed in nature, music , astronomy and how they reflected a metaphysical reality, each of them representing cardinal symbols.
Then one of them found out that the product of the hypothenuse by the side of a triangle was an undescribable number. It was such a metaphysical shock that they tied a rock to his neck and threw him down a lake.

Elder Scrolls is like real life cultures but with fantasy races, and an emphasis on different dichotomy of magic, and a history of living deities. Morrowind has stuff going on like a false tribunal of deity, one of them is Vivic, and over top his city is a comet that was going to collide with the land and obliterate the landscape of Vvardinfel, so he halted its momentum and it remains stuck in midair motionless, a symbol of his grace.

You are correct that the arquebus and the ranger rifles are painfully immobile. The answer is to not bring them.
I run the following:
>leader is either vangard alpha with good pistol or infiltrator princeps depending on matchup
>add infiltrators and ruststalkers (depending on matchup again) so that the total number of sicarians in the team is 4
>ranger surveyor and diktat (if these guys are shooting they're most likely standing still anyways; my arquebus if I ever field it is also a ranger for the same reason)
>plasma and arc rifle, both vanguard
>fill the rest with shocktroopers
When considering rangers vs vanguard, I find that it is much easier to get a vanguard onto an objective to take a shot than it is to let a ranger stand still, which means vanguard have an easier time claiming rerolls from martial protocol.
Your sicarian weapons are also sub-optimal; the stubs deal less damage on average than the flechettes, and your sergeant would be much better off with a power sword.
I use my sicarians as a hard-hitting frontline, tying up the enemy so that by the time they've cleared out the sicarians, my skitarii are ready to strike.
The trick to doctrinas is of course to only use each one for one turn, so you avoid the deprecations. There's a lot of nuance to it, but often a T1 movement up and a T2 melee or shooting reroll works wonders.
Use your diktat, scouting, and/or concealed position to threaten at least 4 objectives on T1. If you go recon, Recover Item can be a pretty much guaranteed 2VP and some of the rest are piss easy too. Most opponents will try to even out your 4 objectives to 3 at least if they're able to, but DG are so slow he might just not be. Set up multiple possible threats at the end of T1, so that when T2 starts and the shooting happens, you can pull off a play even if you lose initiative. You've got a lot of activations, so make sure to delay your vulnerable actions until he can't punish them.
>>
>>92822878
>>92824307
Continued, some scattered tips.
I dunno what loadout he's gone, but against his bolters, bulwark imperative is useful.
Since he's so slow, you can set up your sicarians so that they can charge him but he can't charge you.
Remember the basics of activation economy; focus the active threats and not the guys that have already activated for the turn, do your best to prevent him from firing overwatch, and again use your superior numbers to force him to activate first and bring out your plasma last. If you happen to roll initiative the turn after bringing up your plasma, you can get two shots with him AND place him back in safety afterwards.
If you have any mission actions to do at all, always bring the servo-skull (I always take it on a regular shocktrooper).

At typical mecha scale, probably not a lot of interaction with human scale stuff without some side effects. Industrial stuff like moving heavy equipment, using mega tools, dangerous terrain work and so on is always applicable. Speech, can be used as propaganda, like walking through the streets as a giant unignorable billboard. Doctor, you could have a suite of medical kit to operate like a humanoid ambulance, either using outer arms or secreting any injured persons within the mech's frame. Thief is difficult simply due to the size but you could have a stealth field generator sort of deal that only works at scale, nothing smaller than a big tank or mech can lug it around.
>>
>>92824825
Farming seems like a good one. I could see hydroponics mecha being an extension of a doctor type character as well for making herbs on the fly (or as much on the fly as growing herbs is) construction also is good but I feel like that's always the second role behind military vehicle. Emergency response such as firefighters could develop into being non-combat focused. My idea is less using mechs in place of vehicles and more in place of people to an extent. I want to try and minimize the gap between mecha and pilot as much as is reasonable.
>>92824851
Yeah I'm not expecting mecha to be a full replacement as otherwise i'd be better to just have a normal RPG with humans or human-like mecha I.E. Transformers or Brave. My idea is that a pilots skill set could be amplified by the mecha, so if you have a diplomatic speech charactern their mecha would be focused around comms and leadership as well as enemy deception and the like. A thief or rogue could have a mecha with high radar use and easy safecracking or hacking skill sets. As much out of the box uses for mecha that moves away from standard combat.

NTA, but to my knowledge (South only)...

The SRA is Imperial France
Mekong Dominion combines tropical SEA nations, imperial Japans (honor, katanas, taipans, etc.) and is pretty much a reference to Uoodo from VOTOMS.
Humanist Alliance is Singapore (high tech police state) with a caste system
ESE is Saudi Arabia as an oligarchy (the 50 crew members of the Eastern Sun founded 50 royal families and they jointly rule the territories).

I like the South much more than the North,

I think we can all agree the Karthik got absolutely fucking cucked in the new edition. With the Hive Preatorians losing the spitter variant, the only ranged unit worth shit in the whole army is the Drone Carrier, but that requires you to 1) pay the points to take fucking drones and 2) not even get a guaranteed hit for every model you sacrifice for the shot.

Maybe it would all be fine if they didn't make the Swarm rule retarded too. You have four (4) units in the entire rulebook that can take more than 10 models to get the reduced damage effect. I swear to fuck no one playtested this shit. At least my bug guys are still cool in the RPG.

You can thank Rob for having his team do interviews on Twitter and putzing around on the official discord instead of actually working on their shit, let alone releasing content.

A while ago I asked if anyone would be interested in a thread about folkloric monsters from Siberia. The responses were... really lukewarm and few in number, so I shelved the idea. But right now I desperately need to kill some time, so I'm going to make this thread anyway.

Before we begin, I'm going to make two things clear. One might be self-explanatory, but it wouldn't hurt stressing it to avoid unnecessary confusion going forward. There's no such ethnicity as "Siberian", much like there's no single "Native American" ethnic group. All of the creatures that I'm going to write about belong to different folklores, but I'm not going to mention their exact provenance to save space and spare you the boring details.

Second, because most of these creatures come from fairly obscure fairy tales, not all of them have quality illustrations. Because of that, I'm going to search for pictures that best approximate their descriptions and post them instead. I've also contemplated using AI art, but ultimately decided against it.

Yeah, his ideas and his pitch tend to be a lot better than the implementation, sadly.

I think you can see it with how specific and deeply imagined the races and so forth are going to be in the game, with their own take on Dwarves and all the rest. I don't mind it, but there's definitely some kind of flavour buy-in in the system that you'd need to do some work to strip away from it for other use.

I played the session through out of common courtesy but never went for another, a guy that oblivious to simplest of rules can't possibly run a good game anyway. You're the illiterate, the pic you posted literally describes what a threatened square is then goes on to describe how to trigger an AoO.
A threatened square is a square into which you can make a melee attack. Right?
Moving out of a threatened square usually provokes and AoO from the threatening opponent. Right?
So if your reach is 15ft. and an opponent is stood within range, if they move away from the square you are threatening, you can make an AoO. Regardless of whether they are leaving your range or not.
