Nearly all of the motions are handmade (key)frame by (key)frame. What they do is put a video in the background and then scrub through the timeline to make them match up manually (hence motion "tracing"). There's a reason people keep reusing the dance motions - you need to have a lot autism to stand doing that kind of work for days/weeks for just a couple minutes of original motions.
mocap usually has a characteristic "floatiness" to it that you see in the more vrchat-like videos. It's arguably more of a pain cleaning up fuzzy captured data than doing it from scratch with proper keyframes.

Those creators already have a lot of followers who see the new videos listed in their home screen, an advantage you don't have yet. Once it's past the front page most people won't see it until they go looking for something like it. And the trending page on iwara is useless.

Your best bet is to add all the tags that are appropriate and let people find it over time. Having good tagging helps a lot with that. That and choosing a good catchy thumbnail that instantly shows what your video is about, though it takes some luck (or premium sub) for iwara to offer just the right scenes from the video, or manually tweaking your video to have those at the timestamps Iwara is snapshotting. (You can reupload a new version to test this.)

It does take time for the first few videos, don't be discouraged by that. Those creators you're now jealous of probably felt the same when they started out.

That said, one like every 15 views is actually pretty good, that's close to what my best videos are getting. That means it's really just people not finding your video, of those that viewed it you're getting a pretty good like ratio.

HMVs are great when done right, there's just a lot of really low effort shit on iwara, like every other category. Like hundreds of bengugu HMVs which have no reason at all to exist because bengugu's videos are already HMVs. Anyone have a clue what the fuck happened to RMBD???
After being inactive for a long time he came back and was showing WIPs of a dating sim/sex thing with the kancolle girls.
Then this morning he apparently posted a small loop with Yamato on his patreon and opened a discord.
Now his patreon is closed, his Iwara account deleted, gumroad gone, the discord gone, even the mega link to that yamato loop is closed.
What the fuck happened???????
