I'm not much of an anime guy but I love medieval fantasy, and this one caught my interest.Is it worth giving a watch as an anime outsider?
As long as you can handle a story that takes its time and doesn't mindlessly rush to the next battle every episode like most other shows, yes.

>>273465987If what you want is sincere medieval fantasy you have far better options. Go watch Lodoss War. Frieren is modern Japanese video game world fantasy that's practically a modern world except people dress like knights. Except the ones who dress in modern fashion.
