>buildlingIsekai: the thirdie ESL's genre of choice!
The 2 best isekai.
>>283834245How do we achieve a second Mushoku Tensei? A second coming of pure greatness? There are a lot of decent writers but why can’t anyone create something like MT what went so right with Rifujin and what went so wrong with everyone else?Looking at NAROU and YOMU there hasn’t been anything like this. A few FOTM-type series reared their heads here and there but were quickly forgotten.
Where can I read Jobless Oblige, please help
>>283836106https://www.scribd.com/document/675586545/Jobless-Oblige-SiegIt's a PDF, which is obviously shit compared to an epub, but it'll do the job. It was actually pretty easy to find.
I've read A Young Woman's Political Record like 3 times now. It's the only fanfiction I've ever read. Are there any MT fantic nearly as good? No crossovers.
Bookworm is another isekai with great worldbuilding
>>283836024To continue on this I guess first we gotta start with the protagonist right? How to make him feel like a living being. Writers fear backlash they either sanitize the protagonist, remove uncomfortable edges, and neuter them either too much or go in the opposite direction of the extreme and make them too unhinged is that it? Is good balance the trick to a good MC? maybe a bit twisted but not too twisted. Maybe a bit normal but not too normal. Does this rambling make sense? Then you have banter, it’s also important to have the writing ability to write good banter/dialogue. But then looking at Rifujin his Japanese prose frankly isn’t that advanced. But then how does he manage to make conversations betweeen characters feel believable, natural yes make it feel like they’re human. Feeling of being human is very important to making the world feel alive. Doesn’t matter what kind of original setting you have if it doesn’t feel alive. Believably human but not too human? Is that it? Do we have an issue of balance here again? Idk maybe we do. Maybe we don’t.Then you have the passage of time and pacing. Childhood, adulthood etc a fresh take on each of parts of life with different approach, childhood can’t be the same as being a teenager and being a teenager can’t be the same as being an adult you have to have different arcs with different feels right? Appropriate for each age? Idk but you gotta weave it together so it doesn’t feel the same as the last arc there has to be something progressing constantly life doesn’t stay the same it almost never does. And so on I’ve rambled on a bit but yeah Narou circa 2012 was fertile ground for experimentation, to create something of equal magnitude on the scale of MT building from the ground up is necessary. Something completely new. The genre must die must be reborn. Billions must die.Isekai must die.Although I dont want it to die. It might be necessary. Idk I dont have the answer I’m only mortal.
>>283836106*The 3 best isekai
>>283834245The world building in the novels wasn't that great at all. What are you even talking about?
>>283836693I thought it was excellent, even compared to much of the western fantasy I enjoy. And certainly when compared to its contemporaries. Because holy shit isekai authors can not into world building at all.
>>283836024We need to send waifubots to Rifujin to collect his semen. And then select the top genetically superior women in the world to be impregnated by it
>>283836732I remember having a bunch of small issues that most other series wouldn't bother with either, but that I still couldn't help but think about. Like, how come the demon tongue never diverged into a bunch of smaller languages despite there exisitng extremely long lived races alongside those that live very short lives, no variation based on physical characteristics or cultural habits beyond minute stuff (i.e. migurds not sharing intimate thoughts using normal language, etc.) and other things like it feeling like everyone spoke the same language just using different words for the same concepts (no huge difference in the way different tongues spoke of time or put things into relation based on their specific reality/history, etc.)?
>>283836544TO FURTHER continue and shit on the current narou/yomu in 2010–2014 that was a place where an anonymous writer could drop a 300 000 word monstrosity of personal trauma disguised as fantasy and people would give it a chance.Narou 2025 is TikTok with kanji. It’s just not raw anymore. The ranking system now rewards daily uploads wayyyyy too much, punishes slow builds, kills complex setups, buries uncomfortable stories, elevates instantly satisfying, easily digestible content. But then what about slow life isekai? Yes what about that shit? The biggest mistake writers make is assuming Slow means no conflict, no tension, no change, no stakes, no friction you know just cooking, farming, crafting, and chilling. But slow does not mean nothing happens.Slow life without humanity is dead they’re too stable, too unchanging, too frictionless, too LIGHT.Also slow life is not an excuse to avoid story structure. again we have come full circle and return to the issue of balance.Could that really be it? Could the answer be that simple?
>>283837121Dog you're not wrong but most fantasy, let alone isekai, don't even bother with multiple languages in the world
>>283837128TO FURTHER continue venting my frustrations identifying what MT actually was not the surface elements like say isekai or polygamy or reincarnation or Rudeus turning into a real father who raises kids etc, but the engine underneath it and then building a new engine from scratch might be necessary. But it’s impossible now. It’s not like rifujin researched deeply he simply thought like a resident of his own world not a tourist.Mushoku Tensei was is and will be unapologetically itself. Thus I guess the next masterpiece will come from someone who is willing to do the same but in a new direction in a very different manner.Until that time arrives we will be shackled unable to move on. Thus it’s over. It will not happen for a very long time.
>>283836693It's great for Japanese fantasy worldbuilding, but it still falls into the typical traps Japanese series do That being said, when I said it was great, I do really think it's wonderful, mostly in the way the history of the world is structured
>>283834245>Author doesn't even know how medieval slavery functionnedMushoku Tensei has absolutely terrible worldbuilding and I still like it very much, this is an issue with japanese authors and fantasy in general, they can't write shit.Americans were already mixing eras together but in mushoku tensei there are inventions from the 16th century alongside 5th century technology. I cannot believe how authors have such trouble with actually fucking learning european history and pull out nonsensical shit for midwits to clap because they don't know any better.
>>283839124>inventions from the 16th century alongside 5th century technologyOh wow. This is really intriguing. I didn't know that Mushoku Tensei took place in the real world and is thereby beholden to the same historical metrics of technological progress as our own. Fascinating. Please, enlighten me further.
>>283836024Make your fatass loser protagonist get his by a truck and be reborn as a handsome lad who has sex with a lot of women. No one knows how to write this stuff anymore because modern isekai authors only read other isekai, they don't engage with real world at all.
>>283839180Pete Hines tier argument, I expected better from MT fans
>>283834245
>>283839124Disconcordant technology (compared to Earth) is explained in the very first volume, if I'm remembering right Basically, magic makes lots of shit unnecessary
>>283839861I adored Reverend Insanity but I just couldn't get into this one, I might give it another go some other time
>>283840048Yeah I tried RI too. But I've just read so many Wuxai or whatever, it's just bog standard to me. Unless the authors writing skill increases after 500+ chapters, it didn't draw me in like LoM.
>>283840088Appropriate for the thread, one of RI's biggest strengths is the really cool worldbuilding and just how consistent and broad the 'science' that runs it is. Obviously (as I'm sure you've heard time and time again), the real star of the show is Fang Yuan, who is a lot deeper and more interesting that you might think from the opening chapters
>>283839124>inventions from the 16th century alongside 5th century technology.examples?
>>283839180Yeah, technical details, level of technology, societal norms and just overall logical consistency are all over the place. But in this regard it's still overall above average by narou standards (admittedly, that's not a high bar). And the overall worldbuilding is near the top by virtue of actually existing and not being shallow as a puddle with generic European country A, generic European country B and possibly generic Arabian country C in the south.
It's peak, and will always be peak.
>>283840396>generic European country A, generic European country B and possibly generic Arabian country C in the south. It unironically has all three of those.
>>283839668Jokes on you, faggot. I have no idea who that is.
I hope we get some nice fanart of Rudeus and Ars when the new volume comes out in English
>>283840900Don't you mean Aisha and Ars?
>>283840936NoI want to see my MC and his son
On that note I really, really hope one of the illustrations for the next Redundancy volume is used for Rudy and Sieg drinking together
>>283840952Don't you mean you want to see your MC's sister fucking his son?
>>283841023That too
>>283840769No it unironically does not, because they are not generic, they're actually their own thing. The desert country has little in common with generic Arabian isekai country besides desert.
>>283841041Yeah it's a little racist to clump them together lile that
>>283836024much of it has to do with the fact that mushoku tensei, while not even remotely early in the isekai game, was one of the examples that everybody else tried to copy. in order to get something different, it has to come from somebody not heavily influenced by modern japanese fantasy and isekai/tensei tropes.
>>283841023to be fair, genetically aisha and ars are about the same distance as first cousins, and that's not an uncommon pairing, certainly in a setting like mushoku tensei.
>>283834245does redy really just lose his arm and is armless for the rest of the series? Cuz I don't like the fact that he lost his arm in such a stupid way
>>283841085True I've noticed in the last few years almost every trash isekai has copied story points and characters from MT
>>283841111lol rudeus loses limbs quite often from volume 12 onward. and no he won't he limbless that often, but certainly for periods of time multiple times.
>>283841109I never said I had a problem with it. Granted I'm not a fan of it either, but I'm not going to spew any moral indignation over it when my favorite character is the series is hard at work making babies with her second cousin.
>>283841085It is worth saying that Mushoku has some pretty clear influences. I believe Rifujin's open about being a Rance fan, but even if he didn't say it it's clear as day
>>283841167second cousins are so genetically far, there are only three jurisdictions on earth that ban it mainly due to generational inbreeding.
>>283841111It'll be grown back mid season 3.
>>283841167>making babiesNot enough The condoms were gay Always fucking only with condoms out of consideration for the other wives was gay
>>283841173Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest are both very clear and prolific influences as well. Rifunjin's a fightangamefag but his inspirations for Mushoku Tensei are very obviously RPG's.
>>283841173of course, no work is without past influences, and MT has plenty of it both from japanese and western fantasy fiction. >>283836024while Sutetsuyo (My Status as an Assassin Obviously Exceeds the Hero's) that is being animated this season is as generic as isekai get, you gotta give both the artists and Sunrise credit for creating some pretty good cities and fantasy environments that aren't completely generic.
>>283841167No Rudi she's going for the strap-on!
>>283841217you could say that for all japanese isekai. paul in fantasy island + aura battle dunbine + ng knight ramune + wataru in 1970's to early 1990's were easily some of the most popular isekai that rivaled other very popular anime of the time. a lot of modern isekai is basically wataru + dragon quest video game mechanics + western high fantasy tropes.
>>283841185Incest in general is only particularly risky because of generational inbreeding. That's why most every country outlaws it. Even sibling incest carries only about the same risk of genetic abnormality as a woman giving birth in her 30's. Though there is undeniably a biological compulsion against incest that (sane, well-adjusted) humans have developed via evolution. But I don't care about that shit in my fiction. I want MORE taboo romance in my stories.
>>283836693Yeah it was trash, first season of the anime elevated it into the sky with the background artists doing a herculean job.
>>283841221lol it also has great waifu elf designs
>>283841247Yes but Rifujin is pretty on the nose with the Final Fantasy references in particular. Eris's cloak the was given to her by Rudeus is specifically said (and illustrated) to be reminiscent of the cat-eared WHM robes from FF3. And I don't think the Magic Armor reference needs to be explained to anyone familiar with JRPG's.
>>283841265it doesn't help that almost all humans are only at most 25th to 50th cousins thanks to ... certain happenings of the past.
>>283837492And most fantasy has terrible worldbuilding.
>>283841111he loses his arm 3 times in total through out the series, one time he even loses both and gains big strong throbbing veiny black arm. spoiler related
>>283839180yeah its like bro no one gives a fuck if x thing that didnt exist at x time is present in my fkn isekai anime hahaha this isint real life its a fantasy world with magic get over it
>>283841221Yeah I love the shading of that series and wish MT's anime had the same art style.
I'd die for Eris
>>283841585And she would die for her husband
>>283841625I wonder if she was happier as Rudeus' third wife or as Luke's only wife
>>283841625Better (and hotter) yet: she would - and frequently does - kill for her husband.
>>283841648I doubt that Orsted did any questionnaire in the prior loops to measure how satisfied Red Lion Eris was with her hubby Luke to compare it with Berserker Mad Dog Eris and her little cousin Rudeus, but considering that Orsted knows that Red Lion Eris and Luke had passionate feelings together, they were certainly both happy in the prior loops.
>>283841648Eris has no issues nor compunctions whatsoever toward bigamy. She was raised by her grandfather (one of the only people she loved, let alone respected, let alone LIKED as a child) to believe that a man's worth is determined in large part by the quality of his wives. Rudeus has exceptionally fucking high quality wives, one being the foremost bodyguard and confidant of her nation's princess and eventual sovereign - and the other being a prodigy mage (who Rudeus literally worships and she holds in high esteem by proxy), a legendary adventurer (which Eris also respects by default), and a professor at the greatest institution of magical education in the world. More importantly, Eris doesn't just think Rudeus is the shit: she thinks he's God's gift to the world. And anything that makes Rudeus look better by proxy is a good thing in her eyes. Therefore, Rudeus having excellent wives, and for her to be included among them is nothing but a win-win. So yeah Eris is cool with the situation. Whether or not she would be happier with Luke is a non sequitur because in any timeline that Rudeus exists she's bound to fall in love with him, fight for him, and die for him if need be.
>>283841648>>283841939she IS pretty bummed about it initially, because she more or less assumed that she and rudeus were already family/married (she's just a bit dumb dumb okay?), but she adapts to the situation pretty quickly and decides to be the first to give Rudeus a son.
>>283841939>any timeline that Rudeus existsThe sample size is equal to the population, which is n=1.
>>283837121The reason why demon tongue didn't devolve is because people who used to talk in the demon world are still fucking alive. It's kinda hard to have diverging dialects when fucking Gandhi, Jesus, and Genghis kahn are still alive talking the exact same as they did In ye old olden times. They're the ones that make the most sense that there's no dialect drift.
>>283841794I don't think rudy does nearly enough to deserve her affection. She's honestly too good for this shitty show. And doesn't deserve to be a third wife to this fucking shithead mc.
>>283842426The super old people of Mushoku are one of my favourite parts of the worldbuildingObviously that's nothing unique, especially in Jap stuff, but I just really love how it introduces a history and mythology and then you get to meet these goofballs and fucked-up dudes who are the reality
>>283834245>great world building>There is a joke about okuriookami in a fucking isekaiAlmost as bad as violet evergarden being set in europe and people saying "itadakimasu" and clapping the hands before eating
Enough trolling anons! Better yourselves for your future self! For your future spouse! For your future children!
>>283842003Yeah, Eris isn't good at thinking. But I would argue she's more upset at the idea of Rudeus loving Sylphiette and Roxy more than he does her than the idea of not being his only wife. She's a bit jealous that she isn't his FIRST wife, though Sylphie is jealous that Eris took Rudy's first time, so they find some common ground through that. It of course doesn't help that when she asked Rudeus if he loves the two of them more than her after their years apart, he has what can generously be described as a Freudian slip and answers on the affirmative. I can only imagine how much that hurt her/instigated some part of the violent near-hatefucking that she subjected him to shortly thereafter.
>>283842549People don't talk about just how much constant effort Rudy put into himself He got a good start, yeah, but he absolutely earned his ending
>>283836024>Looking at NAROU and YOMU there hasn’t been anything like this. Former #1 falling down to #3 against a cooking furry+scaly+gely brotrip isekai and a non-canon "abandonware" version of another isekai? There indeed has not been anything like it. But not in the way you want people to think.
>>283842549>Spouses*FTFY. Why just aspire to get jacked with you can also aspire to having a harem of combat queens? Captcha: JAPNW. I agree captcha. That is a W from Japan.
>>283842650it's either this or elusive samurai eh
>>283842679Does that series actually have a harem? I've never bothered with it. But I can tolerate a lot of mediocrity for a harem of bad bitches.
>>283842726>mediocrityElusive Samurai is probably Matsui's best work after two other great works
>>283842726yes MC has three wives at this point, it actually does a good job of showing realities of the harem like the girls fighting for time with him or forcing one to sit out the nightly sex sessions when they do something wrong lol. it also follows a similar path to MT where the wives are all more or less childhood associates/friends/comrades.
>>283842759shares the part where they are also combat wives lol
>>283834245Ok, but you start.
>>283842749I didn't mean that as an indictment against the manga. I just meant that even if it IS mediocre I'm happy to overlook it for satiating my desire for haremshit.
>>283842759>>283842793Alright you motherfuckers I'm in.
>>283842840Addendum to this: how's the anime? I've seen at least one pretty good animation sequence from it. Worth starting with that then hopping over to the source material?
>>283842749Jesus fucking Christ I didn't realize it was by the same author ass AssClass. Why they fuck have I never read this?
>>283842840do keep in mind that while the romance bits in elusive samurai are strong and leave a lasting impression, they are a rather minor part of the story as a whole, while MT has a lot more romance focus. >>283842876there's another season coming soon as well. and yes, watch anime, then you have some mental image of their designs, colours, voices, etc. and can read the source material more comfortably.
>>283842897To me it feels a little more Neuro than AssClass, but if you liked any Matsui stuff then you'll probably like it The best part is how fucking weird absolutely everybody is
>>283842944Damn, this guy looks mad. What a weird guy.
I was actually sure to read this thread.
>>283842897>Why they fuck have I never read this?It was never advertised that well. Pretty good ride, though.
>>283842974Oh shit yeah he's REALLY mad.
>>283843013God damn he's downright livid.
This is now a harem thread
>>283843047Ironic post.
>>283834245Good bait, tourist.
>>283843047Kek stay mad faggot.
somebody ought to make some madoka thread where that redhair and the bluehair are shipped together. should keep him at bay while he's foaming at everything.
>>283842974Honestly I agree, this show is pure wish fulfillment nonsense
Crack rules
>>283842488>violet evergardenholy SHIT this show was so fucking BORING i do not understand the glaze it gets
>>283843106Yeah, that's right. Keep getting angry and projecting the bullshit that you yourself do to prove how not relentlessly buttmad you are, Ack.
I recognize this mad posting style
>>283843013Well it's a good thing it's not the only romance in the series. Now if you'll excuse me, I have some onee-shota to catch up on.
>>283843163This is the second time this dumb motherfucker has accused me of being his arch nemesis in as many weeks. I would wear it as a badge of honor if he weren't so fucking pathetic.
AnonAnon is assblasted.
>>283843177Nigga I live in a converted shack in the middle of bumfuck nowhere. I WISH I had a monitor in front of me.
>>283843184He does that everyone against him since 2015
>>283843304welcome to the shit
>>283843304especially actual harems not harembait nonsense set in a high school...
What is it about MT that makes some people seethe so much. Our bro works so hard to get where he's at. Apparently that's a problem.
>>283843365I can only posit that stories of self-improvent evoke a deep-seeded rage and sense of self-loathing among people who are incapable of such pursuits. Which is funny because I'm one of those people but you don't see me getting angry about it or projecting myself into the MC to feel better about my own inadequacies.
>>283843418The whole point of the series is People Can Change! It's not rocket science! What's the beef with that!?
>>283843461>>283843304okay so he lost his wife/girlfriend to a lesbian polyamorous harem, makes sense now.
Mods = Gods.
>>283843510I see we've gone full retard today. Have this cute Eris.
>>283843498Absolutely wild to me given the fact that the girlfriends loving one another as well as Rentaro is possibly THE most endearing aspect of the story. It's the glue that holds the entire ridiculous shitshow together and elevates it from a great gag comedy to the pinnacle of haremshit.
My bad guys, I fucked his girl last week and now she's gay
>>283843551He doesn't deserve it but I'll have it instead. Here, you have one too.
I love you, mods. Keep doing God's work.
>>283843808>Reminder that over 95% of the world hates youThis is a stupid argument since we are only discussing it in the context of A FANTASY FICTIONAL STORY, you absolutely numbnut. But just to entertain your argument, 2% of the world are in legal polygamous relations, and more than 8% of the world are in unrecognized polyamorous relations. Most of the western world's dating system outside of school has become polygamous by nature of dating apps and temporary dating and casual relationships. Now, to address the legal aspect of it, polygamy is legal in 58 out of 200 sovereign states across the world, covering about 2 billion population...
>>283843915you've never consumed any MT content outside of posts and comments and memes and /a/ discussions, have you?
>>283843915Still at it huh? Have this cute baby.
>>283843365Man I want to nibble Sylphie's ears
>>283843935Unironically the greatest argument for Rudeus right here
Going back to the topic of discussion, I'd like to say that I like Type Moon's world building and lore. I know a lot of people have a lot of issues with Nasu and co., especially with F/GO derailing every other major project and certain works like Apocrypha not living up to expectations but still. Its a world where Voldemort's eugenics makes sense because magic is passed down from parent to child, theres still people trying to make geocentrism work, the Church is still stuck in the middle ages but their witch hunts are now very accurate. Plus how magic works like workarounds in the Matrix, with the ultimate goal of most mages being to "glitch out" and become one with the "code."
>>283844051>theres still people trying to make geocentrism workI guess by reshaping reality through those holy grails, right?
And now we wait for his return. Predictable!
>>283844089I have never saved an image faster in my entire life than I did this one.
>>283842467>rudy does nearly enough to deserve her affectionHe did more than enough to earn the violent and extremely dumb monkeys love.
I'm not sure if 'worldbuilding' is exactly an accurate term to use here, but the wider setting of When They Cry with all its implications and questions is so completely fascinating to me. I adore it
>>283844051also going back to the actual discussion, I really like how the magic system and worldbuilding is done in Mahouka (The Irregular at Magic High School). It is one of the most thorough and intricate systems of future fantasy I've seen done in Japanese media.
>>283844113Back for more? Look at this cute elf!
>>283844089Did Rifujin actually say what happened to the cat ear hoodie?I mean, sure, the most logical and obvious explanation is that Eris simply outgrew it when she became older and taller, and threw it away, but it's still the first thing that Rudeus ever bought for her, and she's really attached to it, as shown by her beating up the Tokurabu Toughs.
>>283844075Why would they need to do that when they can just behave like any IRL flat earth retard.
>>283842616The 1st two are literally made for children and women.
>>283844184That I don't know. She might have just outgrew it.
>>283843365most anons can't self-insert into a character that has his own opinions and motivations, let alone a character that gets married and has children. They see Rudy as competition, rather than a friendly ally.
>>283844184Unless it's mentioned outside of the narrative, he never says so. Though I'm originally more disappointed that he never mentions the pair of Rudeus's underwear that Eris made off with after their first time.
>>283844187I would guess that changing reality where the earth is at the center of the universe probably gives them even more magic mojo to do even crazier magic stuff.
>>283844253Everyone is horny in this world and we know it. Not much to talk about after that lol.
>>283844227The desire to self-insert into a character is the weirdest shit to me. I have my GIWTWM moments (how could I not when reading Mato Seihei no Slave and seeing Fubuki?). But I just can't wrap my head around wanting to self-insert wholesale and envision myself as taking the place of a character. Even as a kid I at most daydreamed about being an OC in series that I liked, not the MC.
>>283844323It's that damnable Asuran nobility at work corrupting the youth.
>>283844327Agreed. Self-Inserting is weird. You're reading a story. The main character has a personality. It's not about you.
Be sure to actually read the MT LN.
>>283844352>The main character has a personality. To be fair, that doesn't really apply to most isekai.
>>283844202Did it hit you so hard that you must escape from reality by making things up, anon?
>>283844400>cooking isekai>Power Level faggotry isekaiChildren and women.
>>283844422Man I'm not even into either of those series and even I think you sound butthurt.
>>283844458You ain't fooling nobody. Have this cute cat.
>>283844446>Stating facts is being butthurt>Tensura Slime is not a power level faggotry anime for preteens>campfire cooking isn't a safe to consume isekai for women and childrenWhat are you gonna tell me next that Frieren is actually deep and profound and not just another shonenslop show made for women?
Sena
>>283834245Pic unrelated?MushShit Tenshit is about as bottom of the barrel as it gets. Literally the only point of the story existing is for the harem to have a setting to put his harem shit in. When the literal last page of your series is "and then they had a foursome" your story is objectively shit.
>>283844506Again, I'm not into either of those series. Haven't watched nor read them, and don't really feel the impetus to do so. I just don't get why you're so mad about it. That's wrong with series that appeal to women and children?
>>283844561>When the literal last page of your series is "and then they had a foursome"Tell me you didn't read the books without telling me you didn't read the books. That isn't even the end of the narrative proper, let alone the last page of the story within the final volume. But sure, regurgitate the shit you've heard other people say about a story you've never read (and I get it, I really do - reading is hard when you're retarded). Doesn't make you look like an ignorant faggot at all.
>>283844362Why? I'd read it if it added some more inter actions between eris and rudy.
>>283844589Be blessed by this cute Roxy!
>>283844573but normies love MT. However you are spot on for the other point: It's all the mentally ill anons that rage when they can't insert as Rudy, when they are so used to doing that for every other fantasy, isekai or highschool romcom.
>>283844623That old baba IS cute
>>283844613Well then do I have good news for you! Because it most certainly does. In fact, one of my favorite parts of volume 2 (episodes 5-8 in the anime) is that most of the chapters and with a little progress report detailing Eris's growth as a student and her developing affections toward Rudeus. It's super fucking cute. Volumes 3 and 5 are also trimmed down pretty considerably, and both of those feature a lot of time spent between Eris and Rudeus. There are also bonus chapters detailing what Eris is up to following her departure from Rudeus starting with volume 9, a fantastic chapter in volume 6 detailing her thought process behind leaving Rudeus, and of course their eventual reunion in volume 15. Wanting more Eris is THE BEST reason to read the light novels. From my totally unbiased perspective of course.
>>283843939Do you think she can climax from ear stimulation alone?

>>283844607Sorry, let's be more clear. If the phrase ""and then they had a foursome" exists at all in your story, it's garbage. You trying to defend the quality of the writing here is laughable.
Polygon isekai
>>283844764in the entirety of the series, a threesome happens once and a foursome happens another time. you really think a harem doesn't have those? elusive samurai has foursomes basically every night.
Meh, turns out that the tensura/cooking pic poster was actually just him again, using another shitpost vector.
>>283844764Good thing those words some exist at all. Rifujin didn't need to be that on the nose about it.
>>283844803Nah, Rudeus continues having threesomes pretty frequently with Roxy and Sylphiette. At least until the great abstinence adventure kicks off. It's just mentioned in passing and - much like every other instance of sex in the series - never down directly.
>>283844859Imagine not having a foursome with your triumvirate of wives. Couldn't be me.

>>283844699I want to perform cunnlingus on Sylphie after a romantic night out in the town, and after she cums for the 4th time we'd make passionate love for the next 30 minutes.
What elements are there to recognize some sort of good (enough) world building?Would a series set on our contemporary earth, but with fantastic elements like hidden supernatural beings and secret societies who deal with said beings (be they as their servants or their opponents) be considered good world building?Probably not, right?
>>283845662>I want to perform cunnlingus on SylphieI mean I'm not telling you that you shouldn't, but you should at least be aware that there's a (guaranteed) chance you'll be slurping another man's semen.
>>283845686Why wouldn't it? Much of the works of Lovecraft fall directly into that category and he was a fairly capable would builder. It's really about how thoughtfully you convey the lore surrounding those elements.
>>283845836>you'll be slurping another man's semen.I'd suck another mans dick and lick his balls if it guaranteed a Sylphiette wife. No homo.
>>283845868Hmmm. Your mention of Lovecraft as a counter example actually makes sense, true.
>>283845920God damn do I respect you for that.
>>283834245Did Rudeus fuck all of them including his mom and grandkids?
>>283845957I think the first John Wick film did a pretty good job of it as well. It massively most the plot in subsequent films, but the concepts established and utilized by the first were really interesting.
>>283845686As already mentioned, Lovecraft is a perfect example. But much more contemporary would be something like Harry Potter and similar series of hidden world within our world examples.
>>283846012no, just his three wives, and in none of the three cases did he initiate the first time...
>>283846012None of those are his grandkids, they're all his children. He's only ever fucked the women who would become his wives. Primarily because he couldn't get it up with his post-traumatic rebound or the prostitute who tried to fix his dick after aforementioned rebound bailed on him.
>>283846015>Harry PotterOkay sure, but he did mention GOOD world building.
>>283846015Eh, Harry Potter would be for me an example of a badly done world building, where you have extremely powerful beings who could easily rule the world openly and influence it without any fear of retaliation, but maintaining a pointless masquerade, and at most saying that the elites of the world know about them.
>>283846059Harry Potter's setting was genius and defined a generation of fiction, just because the fanbase is cringetopia doesn't change that

>>283846087The setting was great, I wholeheartedly agree. The world building however was half-baked and pedestrian. Obviously its influence is unflappable, even on otaku media (Harry Potter > Zero no Tsukaima > an entire generation of magic school isekai/isekai-adjacent slop), but I'm not going to commend it for its world building when it's cripplingly full of holes.

>>283846348I would say it quite clearly represents penetration and the breaking of Eris's hymen.
>>283846332she's easily the sexiest wife. holy shit.
>>283846332I was annoyed that they changed it from the LN where she initiated it instead of him, but I was glad we got to see a real kiss which was not in the LN
>>283846387Rudeus takes her like he's raping her during their first time in the novel and she's totally fine with it. She then proceeds to learn how to deliver pussy and receive cock from fucking Elinalise herself, Queen of all Sluttery, to please both Rudeus and herself in the bedroom. That's a quality fucking woman.
>>283846421Well it's more like she initiated, he hesitated, then when she was leaving he said "fuck it" and proceeded to utterly ravish her by his own accounting. I don't mind that being changed as much as I find it deeply frustrating that they cut the conversation between Roxy and the Fangs of the Black Wolf in the tavern when she finds out about Sylphiette.
>>283846461>She then proceeds to learn how to deliver pussy and receive cock from fucking Elinalise herself, Queen of all Sluttery, to please both Rudeus and herself in the bedroom. That's a quality fucking woman.this should be a yuri doujin

>>283846642lmao why would it not be canon the author wrote it retard
Volume 13 starts with Rudeus waking up from having eaten out Roxy's eternal loli pussy. I am certain we won't get to see that. AND THIS MAKES ME ALREADY SAD!
>>283846629
>>283846747Would be kino if they had even like a 2-second shot of Rudeus's head between her legs in profile. But yeah probably not. It's too horny. Hope we do get some domestic sex scenes though.
>>283846747in the LN it only tells you vaguely what happens in sex scenes in internal monologues, they can't really gracefully adapt that other than subtle visual queues. maybe they'll show him rubbing his jaw or something
>>283846499>>283846421>>283846332they cut a lot from this, not just that conversation, there was a whole lot of things cut from the entire labyrinth arc...
The only cut that really bothered me was the part where he low key tells her about his parents from his previous life and his regrets about them, that part was actually important to the story and one of my favorites. They should've just made it an episode longer cause they were rushing through the whole 2nd cour and skipping greats parts like that.
>>283846667>nee-sama nee-sama>remu remu
>>283846841I don't really understand why the gods let that Rodcort guy be the one in charge of all that reincarnation stuff. Like, that god is genuinely retarded, not Aqua-level funny-retarded-haha-let's-laugh-at-her retarded, but actually an incomprehensible moron.
>>283846747kekeke, we'll absolutely get this scene in some shape or form, it's basically their wedding consummation.
>>283846807There was a lot of meaningless dungeon delving that was totally fine to cut. I would argue that cutting the trip through the desert so short was a much bigger loss. The world building, specifically with regards to succubi and how the culture on Begaritt developed around their existence is super fucking interesting.
>>283846911right, the trip through the desert, both ways, I consider part of the same arc as the labyrinth arc in my head anyway
>>283846901BASED Rudy, pussy eating GOD
>>283846940I admit I don't take too much umbrage with them cutting the fact that Elinalise lied about Roxy being pregnant. I won't go far as to say it was OOC for her, but it definitely felt pretty forced with her conversation with Rudeus about taking two wives works just as well without that unnecessary and incredibly fucked up caveat.
>>283846946There is objectively nothing more based as a man than to be a considerate lover to your partner. Nothing is hotter than seeing a woman get off because of what you did for her (except for maybe hearing it). It's the best fucking feeling in the world.
>>283846884This is kind of ironic because Aqua was actually REALLY fucking good at her job. Sensible people don't choose to reincarnate into a world as fucked up as the one she sends them to when they're actually presented with with the cold, hard facts. Her willingness to frame reincarnation as the coolest option, while lying by omission about whatever is necessary, was the ONLY reason people actually chose to do so. Once Kazuma drags her out of heaven the reincarnations just stop wholesale because the angels who fill in for her aren't unscrupulous enough to deceive people into taking such a shit deal under the guise of being a "hero". Kazuma is literally the last one and it becomes a huge fucking problem for the gods.
>>283847127Did all the people that Aqua isekai'd into the silly fantasy world (sans Kazuma) actually regret going there, though? They all got awesome cheat powers, and shouldn't have had to sleep in a stinky stable and work 9 to 5 jobs.
>>283847167They also die in droves or worse - end up like the guy who created The Destroyer and the Crimson Demons. Some of them end up living pretty well, but even a whole group of them including Mitsurugi - the strongest of the bunch - are incapable of doing shit against a high level general of the Demon King. It takes Kazuma siccing Megumin on her (in one if the best scenes in the novels) to nip that in the bud. And that ALSO only worked because Aqua is a supremely talented carpenter who can build faster and better than the destruction a fortress endures by taking a full-frontal explosion once a day.
>>283847211>or worse - end up like the guy who created The Destroyer and the Crimson DemonsI think creating the Crimson Demons more than makes up for any accidental catastrophe that his Destroyed causes.>HAHA WA YUIYUI >CHICHI WA HYOIZABURO
>>283847369Oh for certain he's one of the greatest to have ever played the game. Went out like a miserable bitch, though. But at least he'd made peace with it.
>>283846843Yeah, kind of sad that animefags don't know that Roxy almost certainly knows that Rudeus is reincarnated. He may be stupid enough to think she didn't believe that story was about him, but obviously she isn't.
>>283847725all three wives find out in their own way, roxy is very smart and surmised that rudeus had memories of a previous life based on conversations and such, sylphie saw him speak a foreign language with nanahoshi and more or less figured it out, and eris had to explicitly eavesdrop and hear rudeus telling orsted that he's a reincarnated person from another realm...
>>283846807>>283846911They did cut a lot which was not surprising they just didn't have the time. A better director could've handled the adaption better because the academy needed those episodes otherwise there was no way to fit in Nanahoshi and Badigadi's introduction etc(although Badigadi also got shafted and avoiding mentioning touki was hilarious).I think the biggest flaw with begaritt arc was not even the fact that the worldbuilding segments got cut and that we couldn't actually get the feel for begaritt by traveling with the locals and learning how they survive in that desert. Nah the biggest flaw had to be skipping Rudy's thoughts especially after Paul's death and how he felt about the whole thing.Anime did make the whole experience seem very insignificant due to the fast pacing.
>>283847964Eris wasn't eavesdropping. She was planning to, but Orsted invited her in before she got the chance. I imagine Sylphiette is smart enough to have ascertained that Rudeus is reincarnated based on his understanding of Nanahoshi's language and their entire friend group knowing she's from another world, but I don't think it's ever explicitly stated that she does know. Though I could be misremembering. And Roxy obviously knows regardless of Rudy's foolishly expecting her to think he's talking about someone else just based on her response to his "hypothetical".
>>283839124>there are inventions from the 16th century alongside 5th century technologyHuh? What type of autism is this? Do you also know it has futuristic shit like flying castles that can fire laser beams and robots? The setting has had a least 3 different extinction level events that I can think of, one of which includes the merging of several other races that were far more advanced than humans into the world of the humans
>>283848008Yeah I would definitely argue that failing to convey the full extent of Rudeus's mental ruination and how that spurred Roxy's "taking advantage" of him in Rapan is the single biggest fuck up in the entire adaptation.
>>283848008In hindsight, episode 0 should not have been produced, so that the extra episode slot could have gone to the second cour instead.
>>283834245anything that has polykino will end up being a good and memorable series
>>283848069This is probably the best solution. Having Sylphiette give an outline of events to Rudeus in a minute-long scene to get an extra episode in cour 2 to properly convey the events if volume 12 would have been a godsend.
No news for season 3? Only thing I'm aware of is the fact that Toho removed the "April 2026" from its financial reports so I guess it got delayed, probably coming end of 2026
>>283848174I would much rather they take their time to make it good. It's the most important part of the entire story, with the best fight, and the return of best girl. They need to do everything they possibly can to not fuck it up. The fact that they look to only be adapting 5 volumes instead of the usual 6 is already a good indicator that they're taking this seriously at the very least.
>>283848225I wouldn't put my hopes up. If they actually wanted to make it kino they would've gotten a completely new staff with a better director and a bunch of big names in animation for S3 and only released that shit in early 2027. It's probably going to only be one step above season 2 cour 2 most likely
>>283839861>chink garbage
>>283848069Episode 0 was amusing.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zb9DtdD7JiIBut no really I don't see the point of some of these scenes considering they were tight on time and also importance like Ariel singing? What? Definitely badly planned out since they cut content from begaritt instead.>>283848225>The fact that they look to only be adapting 5 volumes instead of the usual 6Are they? Any source? 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 sounded like what was going to get adapted if its 2 cours. As in Asura arc as well. But I'm skeptical Asura arc is pretty huge and it'd be better if they focus on just 12, 13, 14, 15. That would be the perfect season. I hope they leave Asura arc for the next season.>>283848286>step above season 2 cour 2Already good news if true.
>>283848339We've already seen scenes from volumes 16 and 17 in the season 3 trailer, so yeah, it will definitely adapt up to volume 17.
>>283848387Those were definitely scenes from vol 17. So much to cover though.
>>283848339>Are they? Any source? 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 sounded like what was going to get adapted if its 2 cours.Volume 12 has already been adapted. It's everything in season 2 that takes place in Rapan, and the last episode in Roa. There is no explicit confirmation that they're only adapting 5 volumes, but the pre-animated trailer for season 2 showed material all the way up to volume 12, whereas the season 3 trailer doesn't show anything beyond volume 17. It really is the most sensible way to go about it not only because it lets then dedicate more run time to such important material (as well as potentially fitting in bits from the Eris bonus chapters), but because volume 18 would be a REALLY fucking weird set of episodes to end a season. Following up some of the heaviest and most serious material in the narrative and ending a season with.. pregnant Eris kidnapping a cat girl slave, Rudeus playing detective in The Great Forest, and Linia and Aisha starting an enterprise of not-delinquent mercenaries would be pretty tonally dissonant and leave a bad taste in people's mouths. The ending of volume 17 is optimistic enough as is (Eris surpassing Ghislaine, Ariel taking the Asuran throne). There's no need to cap off the season with silly slice of life material that would be much better served kicking off a new season the way that volume 13 will for season 3.That's all my speculative take, but I feel pretty fucking confident in it.
>>283848504That, and volume 18 is the calm-before-the-storm setup volume, showing how nice life currently is for Rudeus and Zanoba, before they have to go to Shirone.
>>283848562Literally my only grievance (and I can't even really call it that) with volume 18 not ending season 3 is that I've always felt volume 19 would have been the perfect chunk of the story to adapt into a film. It's largely self-contained, has terrific action sequences, and features fan favorites in Roxy and Zanoba as the primary characters alongside Rudeus. It even has the opportunity for a sick ass final boss battle against Randolph. Seeing Rudeus lay waste to an army with King-tier magic on the big screen would be the height of cinema. Not to mention the fact that there's even part of the book in which he and Roxy sneak off for a quick fuck. Audiences would love that shit. But unfortunately there's no way you can make that work when the material is going to take place in the middle of an ongoing season. So my dream is dead.
I wonder if they're going to show Geese conversing with the Man-God as the final scene in season 3, or perhaps only a hint of it by showing him drunk in a bar and seemingly speaking with somebody, the perspective of the viewer being obscured so that they can't see that he's speaking to the air.
>>283848768I feel like it's better to cut this scene personally. It only works in a literary format where you don't know whose speaking. Better to surprise as may people as possible with the reveal, even though no also number of with will sniff it out by way of his shady ass behavior in Millishion in volume 20.
>>283845662>>283846781>Rudeus to Sylphiette (as Fitz): "I would shoot down a floating fortress for you.">Orsted 14 volumes later, panicking internally: "I have to do everything in my power to make sure this walking weapon of mass destruction doesn't shoot down a floating fortress for his hot elf wife."It's the little things that make this series great.
>>283848810in the novel I really didn't see it coming but the anime made Geese way too much of a chad his charisma is off the charts. And I think everyone knows from spoilers anyway.
>>283849049You would be amazed how many people outside of /a/ haven't encountered a single spoiler for this series. It's just far enough outside of the mainstream for them to avoid it. Trust me, people are going to flip the fuck out over The Diary. Hell if this were anywhere but /a/ I would spoiler tag my own posts but I've learned that anons just generally don't give a fuck.

>>283849652>Rudeus: "I'm terrified for the well-being of my wife and child. If Perugius tries to hurt them I don't know that I'll do. >>283862131I wouldn't necessarily say "better", as Mushoku Tensei is the best that I've seen, but "The Conqueror from a Dying Kingdom" has very solid world building. It's also a very rare non-magical isekai. Unfortunately I gather that the light novels have been axed, and the only translation I've found for the web novel is one of the worst that I've ever seen. The story does have its issues, namely in that in can feel very meandering as isekai that are obviously more informed by western fantasy norms tend to be (looking at you, TTRPG). But it really is a good series. Though the point that the light novels seemingly end is a deeply fucking frustrating place for a story to drop off.

>>283862332Paul can't even sleep with Lilia unless Zenith is pregnant. And Lilia has a nasty flat ass and long back.
>>283863020>Already does thatIf he did it more seriously he might finally be able to learn the Sword of Light. Half-assing his training was his biggest flaw as a combatant. He was only Saint-tier overall on a a technicality because he was enough of a prodigy to become Advanced in all 3 sword styles without particularly putting in any effort. Now imagine if he actually tried. He had all the makings of an Emperor-tier swordsman and just chose to go nowhere with it.
>>283863091It's actually more extreme than that. He swears at Zenith's insistence to never have sex with her again at all. And the only reason that vow is broken is because he was affected by a succubus on Begaritt and Lilia cost chose to do so of her own recognizance so that the other girls traveling with them (two victims of sexual slavery, and Roxy - a virgin looking for her first love who sees Paul as family) wouldn't have to shoulder the burden. It's literally the first and only time they have sex after Aisha is born.
>>283863126To really get to saint level in any of the techniques, you have to grok it on a deeper level, which he apparently couldn't. That's why he was rather bad as a sword teacher, and why Ghislaine, who is a monster shit-eating illiterate feral semi-nuddist who couldn't count was better at teaching the sword.
>>283863213Don't they keep sleeping together while staying in Begaritt? I think I remember something about that
>>283863213>>283863364it's not that explicit but it does seem like they continue after, yes, especially from the bit of conversation between rudeus and paul when rudy finally arrives.
>>283863126>He had all the makings of an Emperor-tier swordsman and just chose to go nowhere with itTalent goes to waste without proper tutelage. Also, he found Zenith and retired
>>283863435it is kind of fucked up that Paul was Lilia's first time too when he more or less raped her in her sleep when they were both attending school... then ran away.
>>283863362You could possibly take his comments about Lilia in the bedroom to imply they did, but it isn't explicitly stated. And the general vibe of the succubus conversation seems to suggest that it's the only time that they did. Though I could be misremembering.
>>283855809Typos were never an indicative of phone posting. The issue was autocorrect turning what they wrote into something unintended. Some idiots also used to think capitalizing words correctly meant you were using a phone because they capitalize the start of every sentence by default.

>>283863484>Some idiots also used to think capitalizing words correctly meant you were using a phone because they capitalize the start of every sentence by default.Which has always been fucking weird to me given that /a/ has always had one of the higher levels of literacy among boards. The first thing I get, especially now that I'm an obligate phonefag. But /a/ in general always tended to have more anons than not that at least attempt to use employ proper grammar and sentence structure. That's why people get so butthurt about the increasing presence of obvious ESL posters.
>>283863705yeah I don't know if people here, at least the older guard, get mad about proper grammar or sentence structure in posts, that seems like an inherently instant messaging platform type grievance like some MSN/Yahoo/AOL/Skype/Shoutbox/Discord faggotry about writing properly and not shortening everything or speaking like a melanin-rich person. >>283863573snuck into her dorm room while she was asleep and assaulted her. the suggestion I think was that they knew each other and she liked him but didn't really want to get RAPED.
>>283863631If you haven't read the novel there's a chapter at the end of the (I think) first volume from her perspective Basically she went looking for work and found out that Paul was looking for a maid and specifically went to him to squeeze him for a good living by guilt-tripping or blackmailing himAnd the rest, as they say, is history
>>283863631>but then why would she go and work for the family after ........ Well, she needed new work after taking an arrow to the knee, I mean, taking a poisoned dagger to the knee. And she intended to actually blackmail Paul into giving her the job plus paying her very well. But then to her surprise, he and his beloved wife immediately gave her the job and paid her very well. >and then "seduce" him and have his child ........Listening to your employers having loud moaning sex for seven years, maybe more, will probably do that. Of course, as a beautiful big-breasted babe, she should have rather gone to the village tavern and get herself some strong farmer to plow through her intermediate water-god pussy, but perhaps everyone there was already married, and Paul is an attractive man anyway. >and then groom the child to basically fall in love with Paul's son ................... Yeah, that was a bad thing overall. >there's so many layers of generational trauma in MT it hurts my brain.Lilia's demure personality might be one of the reasons why things ended up like that. She wasn't particularly talented, despite her father being her and Paul's teacher in the water god style, after Paul raped her and left her, her self-confidence must have been in tatter, she saw perversion and degeneracy at the royal palace that made young Paul's behaviour look like a saint, she nearly loses her life, and then she later meets Paul again as his subordinate.
I'm seeing a lot of Deleted. Is the retard back?
>>283863851>Is the retard back?Need to specify which one.
>>283863841>she saw perversion and degeneracy at the royal palaceSo now we come back to the big one. Did the 'fat ministers' rape her too?
>>283863631Because blackmailing Paul into giving her a job was her only way out of returning to her family, who would presumably marry her off at the first opportunity. She couldn't work as a bodyguard any longer after getting mildly crippled while protecting baby Ariel. So it was either work for the Greyrats while holding dirt over Paul's head that she could reveal to Zenith if he fucked her over, or have her life decided for her. As for why she fucked him? She made that pretty to clear. The relentless sex every night had her at her wit's end. And despite his philandering, Paul had become a much better person than the damaged kid who hurt her in the past. Add onto it that he's hot and obviously a great lay and it's hardly surprising that she went that route, fucked up as it is. With regards to grooming Aisha for Rudeus: from the moment he threw Paul under the bus to protect her she basically worshipped him as her savior. Much like his wives, she thinks Rudeus is literally the greatest catch imaginable and wants her daughter to have the greatest man possible. That's why she's frustrated with the fact that young Aisha views him as a twisted deviant when, by the standards of the Asuran nobility and royalty with which she's familiar, he's actually incredibly tame. Huffing a pair of demon panties is nothing compared to the shit she's witnessed.
>>283863841>>283863887We just gave the exact same answer in so many different words. I like you, anon. Have some wives.
>>283863631>but then why would she go and work for the family afterWell, she had no choice. She was a royal maid for the king of asura, which includes doubling as a body guard. She saved Princess Ariel from an assassination attempt and got injured and couldn't fight properly anymore, she was dismissed. As a personal royal maid, she'd be targeted in order to be tortured into revealing kingdom secrets. She then proceeds to run away until she finds out a recently married local village knight looking for a maid, who happened to be Paul Greyrat. She planned to use her past with Paul as leverage to blackmail him into hiring her, though she didn't need to. Afterwards Paul's Chad cock was too irresistible to her and she wanted to get plapped. Despite the fact that Paul raped her in his youth she actually liked him and adult Paul had his chad pheromones oozing out 24/7, which made any woman in the vicinity ovulate
>>283863879Did they rape the bodyguard of their princess? Highly unlikely. In fact I think there might even be a line by Lilia to the effect of "Paul is the only man I've ever known".
>>283863879I'd imagine there is a hierarchy to it. The royal maids that doubled as bodyguards were probably more high status than the regular servants, so the nobles living within the palace probably weren't allowed to touch them. Now everyone else was fair game
>>283863991>Paul had his chad pheromones oozing out 24/7, which made any woman in the vicinity ovulate

>>283863631Lilia is a cunt and forced Paul to hire her basically, then she enters the familyband betrays her best friend, and groomed her kid to be willing to have sex with Rudy, only for Aisha to pay her back fucking a 11 year old that sort of looks like Rudy.Lilia honestly deserved worse
>>283864117Ars wife and Ruijerd wife
>>283864156It's a testament to the fact that a series doesn't have to be full of death for death to have meaning. He's the only member of the main cast who dies throughout the course of the narrative, epilogue notwithstanding. But that death resonates so powerfully throughout the remainder of the series that it never stops being impactful. Absolutely crushing that he wasn't there to find out that Zenith, broken as she seems, understands the world around her and cherishes her family just as much as she always did. Fuck, just thinking about that scene gets me choked up. I cried my eyes out reading it. Zenith was too good for the world.
