Cloudflare is down so I can't watch Yorknew arc on my day off. Want to talk about hxh?Just something I noticed is that hxh is half Togashi sharing his passion for gaming half writing a story. When he is actually writing it's good, when he is sharing his passion for gaming it mostly doesn't work. For example Hunter Exams is kind of a mix, he actually wants to tell an adventure story but also he tells it as if it was an intro into an adventure video game. So it's sometimes good sometimes bad. Zoldyck Manor is him telling a story so it's good but then we go to Heaven's Arena where you literally fight bosses and level up and it's insanely bad. Yorknew is story = good, Greed Island is gaming = bad, Chimera Ants is story = good. Then he stops indulging in gamer stories so it gets better but he also loses passion and gives up.So basically he works on the "one for me, one for you" kinda system. He can write a good story but that's not what he likes, he only likes writing gamer stories.

>>283853295>>283853309>>283853371>>283853391I genuinely think we have reached the point where tech monopolies have gotten too big for their britches and are going to force the government to act to break them up within the next couple years. Everything being so centralized on a handful of services, AND those services getting enshittified because the companies that run them are trying to cut costs with AI and lower skilled workers to make profits go up since they can't expand their market anymore after total saturation, is asking for disaster. Piling everything onto the same bridge but also chipping away at whats holding it up at the same time. Every time Cloudflare or AWS goes down, the internet dies. Windows makes a greedy stupid decision about pushing windows 11 and hundreds of millions of people who can't switch off of 10 are left out in the cold. Etc. Corporate greed gets quietly ignored and a free pass to continue, up until it starts fucking with people's daily lives. And thats the step we are getting to now.

That would, at absolute worst, create a situation where they get so bad that they go bankrupt, someone else buys them up, and now you have an even BIGGER monopoly as you have fused them together with one of their competitors. If you want them to break up the companies for real, the only way to make that happen is enforcing anti-trust laws we already have on the books but which no one cares about because their options are enforcing the law or getting really sweet bribes.

For example, I don't think that >>283853929 is exactly right, that's not enforceable, but what COULD be done is that fines for penalties by a company have to be paid for in equal parts by the company itself and shareholders on a per-share basis. Which is to say, if the company you are invested in breaks the law and has to pay a fine, a big chunk of that fine comes out of the company coffers but it ALSO has to come out of your pockets directly as a shraeholder as well. You profited from their breaking the law, you are associated with the crime, for every share in the company you own you have to pay X amount. Suddenly, fiduciary responsibility turns on its head. Because this means that a company that breaks the law and triggers fines for its shareholders gets fucked TWICE. First in the initial payout, and then in the class action lawsuit when all of its shareholders come after it for having cost them money. Suddenly, breaking the law because wildly unprofitable, instead of a service fee you budget for in advance.

>>283853968>>283854072At least finish reading the wikipedia article ffs>Among non-experts, conventional wisdom holds that corporate law requires boards of directors to maximize shareholder wealth. This common but mistaken belief is almost invariably supported by reference to the Michigan Supreme Court's 1919 opinion in Dodge v. Ford Motor Co.>Dodge is often misread or mistaught as setting a legal rule of shareholder wealth maximization. This was not and is not the law. Shareholder wealth maximization is a standard of conduct for officers and directors, not a legal mandate. The business judgment rule [which was also upheld in this decision] protects many decisions that deviate from this standard. This is one reading of Dodge. If this is all the case is about, however, it isn't that interesting.— M. Todd Henderson[3]> "Dodge v. Ford is a rule that is hardly ever enforced by courts" is not that it represents bad case law, but because the business judgement rule means:>The rule of wealth maximization for shareholders is virtually impossible to enforce as a practical matter. The rule is aspirational, except in odd cases. As long as corporate directors and CEOs claim to be maximizing profits for shareholders, they will be taken at their word, because it is impossible to refute these corporate officials' self-serving assertions about their motives.Or just think for a moment about how silly it isAssuming you're not ten years old you have lived through several cases in which a company put the employees over a profit, when was the last time you heard anyone successfully being taken to court for giving their employees benefits package when that money could have been increasing dividends lol
