I'm gonna say it. The God Valley flashback genuinely convinced me that Kaido and Big Mom are still alive. They had a massive amount of focus and I think Oda realises that their young designs were way too cool and it was a waste to make them both tired old fat boomers. Here's my take:>Kaido can't be dead because he still has too much unfinished business with the whole Joyboy/Nika angle that the story is taking. >When he washes up out of the lava bath, he'll realise that he fucked up by sitting on his ass playing tyrant for decades and decides to live up to how King saw him as Joyboy, now that Kaido has seen the real one. >Big Mom is in a similar boat, but she'll be generally far more spiteful about it. Remember that we STILL don't know what the hell happened to her kids that were on Wano and just vanished from the story. The BM pirates will find and rescue her, they'll return to WCI only to find out about Pudding. Cue her wanting revenge on BB and Luffy. Basically, both of them will have revelations about how they lost and come back after a training arc. They'll have designs that are halfway between their present selves and how they used to look.
