Physical takes up space and would involve added cost/difficulty shipping. Bonuses are an unavoidable loss most of the time when they can be in a single store for a limited time.
>>286042309this is saying most people don't buy books in general ebook or physical.
God I wish fujoshi dominated me
I don't read LN. So I do not buy them.I read manga and prefer HQ digital to be read on a large tablet. If I buy it it's the JP version in the hopes that better supports the mangaka and contibutes to the manga's perceived popularity by the magazine that publishes it. I do not read (((DRM))) content. I would not even spit on (((DRM))) content.I buy (((DRM))) content solely for reasons stated above.I do not buy physical manga because the page crease is ass but, more importantly, because it is shit quality printing, binding and materials. To hold it is to develop hand cancer.I read books and buy good quality hardbacks. Not ass quality ones, either old or new but good quality ones on nice thick paper.

Fujos have to fight to have a fujo place. Not that it really does anything at the end, to cater to fujo is seen as a sign of desperation and as soon as the money comes in they flip over and pretend that it meant nothing and cater to men using that money instead. So, its nothing to worry about if you're a guy/yume because the money that goes into buying yaoi books will end up being used to make ecchi fanservice. It sucks if you're a fujo though.

>>286042183This is why BL gets entire floors dedicated to it in bookstores while yuri will get at best a handful of shelves

>>286042183I wonder how does it compare to manga being sold in the West. I'd wager the West would have a far larger percentage dedicated to physical sales than Japan. But, I have no idea by how much fujos will dominate the manga buyership base.
AT least in Japan they are the one group that shoplifts the most and because bookstores from japan are starting to remove BL section, such sales likely don't offset the constant shoplifting, anyways eastern females in general also only shoplift less than black Americans
>>286044860Western fujo are weird and crazy, half of them are secretly yume and are only into cuntboys and pregnancy. Its surprising that its not that popular with men given its just TS.

>>286043837it's probably some bird-like instinct.
>>286044930>half of them are secretly yume and are only into cuntboys and pregnancy.I don't see these people buying manga as much. It seems they're way too into fanfiction, danmei, or western shit. So I don't think they should be counted with regards to manga sales.
>>286044930>only into cuntboys and pregnancy
>>286042183Which makes Japanese publishers' pants-shitting fear of ever greenlighting BL manga longer than 2 volumes even more ridiculous. They have an audience of mega-whales and are content to let them slip away to Chinese and Thai works instead of capitalizing.

>>286045039Wasn't there an article a while back about how BL publishers fucking hate fujoshi and think women are stupid and so refuse to clear anything other than plotless porn? 2+ volume manga is a pipe dream in conditions like that.

On the other hand, don't most corpo-types feel that way about the "otaku"/enthusiast segment of their consumer base? Feels like they despise the die-hards and actively try not to create content that might appeal to them.
>>286042183>women like porn booksLiterally anyone could have told you this.
I think the relative scarcity of actual and implied BL (compared to implied/real yuri and hetero) is what drives a lot of fujos, if we talk about merch buying and such. They usually stick to one specific pairing for years and more often than not the characters it consists of aren't even MCs so there is barely any merch. Because of that they buy everything they can get hold of and spend their time with fanart drawing and/or collection. Compare that to female fanservice. Girls are everywhere and usually in the limelight of their respective shows, they also get a lot of merch and usually a happy end or canon love interest. A fan would be satisfied so there is no reason to waste ones energy by digging holes in the desert in order to find water since you already live at a lake.

>>286048579Yep. Hence my statement,>*most* gachas aren't catered to Japanese women.>There's a few and they dominate in salesI can only think of LADS and Project Sekai catering strongly to women (though the latter is ~60% women). Both of these dropped off in popularity in recent times iirc. Genshin is male majority so I don't count it. Are there any that I'm missing that currently dominate the general gacha market while also being for women? It seems to be dominated by men no matter where I look regarding sales.

>>286049033twst, tourabu, love and deep space i honestly can't think of any in recent times but genshin absolutely has a huge female fanbase however it was eaten by ZZZ
>>286049217>ZZZ>female fanbaseHaven't they pretty much only released girls in the past year? I never see anyone talk about the guys. I think in terms of omnipandering stuff arknights has a lot of female fans that are very vocal about the male units.
>>286049397all i know is the fujo fanbase for those male characters is so big i don't even know any of the fem names but i know phainaon and shit
>>286049217>genshin absolutely has a huge female fanbaseUsed to be closer to 50/50, but now it's like 65% male iirc>eaten by ZZZ75% maleUnfortunately, the answer as to why you can't think of any more recently popular female-targeted gachas is probably because the female gacha players either moved on, or got absorbed into male-dominated gachas after introducing new characters for them. However, the ratios post-aborption still leans heavy male. Not sure if it's a good or bad thing.

>>286050579>Data mentions teenagers and their interest in preferring physical media to digital.>"These are all women in their late 20's to 40's"
>>286049217The ratio of male to female players in kusoge like genshin is at least like 80% to 20%. Furthermore, women don't spend money on gacha and so the often gachas won't release any male units, especially in the chinky gachas where there can be as many as 5 times the number of female characters to 1 male character. By the time a male character releases all the female players can get that unit for free. The amount that a gacha earns off a female banner versus a male banner can be as much as 20 million USD less if they sell a male character, because males only roll for females and they spend a huge uncontrollable amount on gacha.>>286049033LADS revenue is actually a lot lower than it appears. The reason is because monthly PVP rankings for gacha are influenced by iOS spend. It's a 1.75x multipler on CN apple iOS spend. In chinkland, women basically exclusively use iOS. However, as much as 60-70% of revenue can come from PC and store sales rather than iOS so compared to gacha like genshin, the amount of earnings will be a lot less. It's a well known fact that women buy cheap physical goods while men prefer to whale super hard on kusoge

It's not for displaying much either as most otaku store their things in special boxes or sleeves now made for this purpose or choose itabags. they're not really selling much of it to various 2nd shops because i had a hard time find several bl manga author's books. Why was there always multiple people in the BL section, especially at new bookstores like animate while in places like bookoff you had an even split between bl and seinen/older manga in comparison. Doujins are a portfolio for publishers, and it seems nearly impossible to start your BL career without one. This isn't as important to other genres, which may hint a part as to why BL leans shorter and more suggestive than most genres.
>>286055637Sometimes you just have to keep going and push through the shitposting.I actually have an anecdote to this. those original (and fan) doujin events often have editors from various publishers who will meet with you, look at your work, and give you tips or advice on publishing. a lot of the booths will be empty for a bit while they meet with those people. It's really interesting. I may have listened in on a few people without being obvious (hopefully) and a few of the editors mention things like character design and paneling in the small part i was able to listen to and understand. It's why a lot of doujin authors seemingly improve suddenly as they have a quick meeting with an industry professional
