>millennial shounen manga ends
>it's still part of the popular culture and zeitgeist

>zoomer shounen manga ends
>literally noone cares about it anymore and they just move onto the next big thing

It do be like that
>>
>>288800589
zoomer shounen is drawn by millennials
millennial shounen was drawn by boomers

Blame the slop-ification of anime/manga and invasion of tourists after Covid. I think the seasonal format is also to blame in a way.
>>
>>288800589
just by looking at the catalog I can tell you that JJK is the only one that fits the bill
MHA has had some schizo really riled up lately which is ironically drawing discussion of what people liked about it and there's still a CSM general even after Part 2's ending regardless of what anyone thought of it
>>
>>288800979
its crazy how hard jjk fell off

>and there's still a CSM general even after Part 2's ending regardless of what anyone thought of it
That's basically a zombie general.

The "2nd gen creator" problem. Gen 1 comes up with original ideas, Gen 2 comes up with ideas based on Gen 1's work

It's a lot like that for most media, tragically. Movies from the 80s and 90s became beloved classics for decades, the MCU movies come out, should be touchestones, and nobody cares. I don't know it's because it is the zoomers entirely or if media just comes out too fast now or if it's both but it's a real shame.
>>
>>288801046
original ideas don't exist

JJK created the concept of aura btw, something that none of those other shonen ever managed and is now an established of the real culture zeitgeist

are you saying manga that have been around longer are more popular than manga that have been around for a fraction of that time?
what a novel concept

Mcu movies shouldnt be touchstones
After iron man there wasnt a single entertaining one untill avengers and even then that was a really low bar to jump
Far too formulaic since first movie, you seen one of them youve seen all of them
Iron Man was carried hard for me cause Im a big ac dc mark

I like MHA and Jujutsu Kaisen a lot.

>>
>>288803549
Ehi, at least SnK was a more interesting and complex story to handle due to the whole genocide thing and it really become bad only in the last 20 chapters.
Gege fucked up way harder than isayama ever did by just having a far simpler and easy to write story, ruining it after Shibuya , ruining the flew developed characters and than nuking the whole setting with an awful sequel.

Battle shonen only have 3 stories to tell
1. Kid in a big world adventuring
2. Teenagers fight monsters
3. The professional does jobs

You're right, /a/ is just too far up it's own ass to admit it.

Zoomers are entering their 30s next year. The current shonen audience is Gen A.

>>
>>288800589
MHA is the only one of these I've actually consumed. I've never seen a greater differential in art and writing quality.

JJK I've only seen in clips of the anime on social media because it's very popular meme material and CSM doesn't appeal to me at all.
>>
>>288800589
What millennial shonen is still popular? No one talks about Bleach and the only talk i hear of Naruto is people reposting chunin exam clips, which was like 25 years ago.

desu most shonen implode in the end. I can't think of many that have good endings and a bad ending really seems to harm your place in the overculture; mha would've been fine it dodged the spiritually cucked ending
>>
>>288801046
deep

>>288800589
>being this delusional
I am fully ready to admit that JJK is slop but come the fuck on, it got way too big to just be forgotten about. People will recognize Gojo years down the line, and don’t even get me started on what Megumi’s done to character discussion as a whole
>>
>>288806902
>No one talks about Bleach

And those ones can't read or watch. They see Tiktok videos

late 90s/2000s shounen is Gen X shounen.

nu-shounen like JJK, CSM, KnY is actually millennial. JJK and KnY movies grossed hundreds of millions at the box office. Do you retards really think it was a bunch of zoomers? If you actually went outside and went for yourself you would have seen it was a bunch of redditors in their 30s and middle aged japanese women who are the target audience for those movies.
>>
>>288804886
when was the last time this trope was used in /a/nime
>>
>>288807959
Box office has absolutely nothing to do with impact. Box office returns measure marketing hype, timing, and brand power rather than a series' quality or long-term legacy.

In the case of Jujutsu Kaisen and Demon Slayer, their relevancy lives and dies by their anime. When their anime is on air, the usual discussion is less about Jujutsu Kaisen/Demon Slayer itself and more about the work of Mappa/Ufotable: "the animation looks nice," "the fights are peak," "I cried when that character died." Once their anime is off the air, the novelty around them (the animation) wears off because then the work itself has to stand on its own and beyond the sakuga, you'd find an empty hollow work that doesn't have much going. Dragon Ball fans spent decades theory-crafting and powerscaling, Naruto fans thrives on fanfiction and One Piece has extensive discussions surrounding its politics. Even if Attack on Titan fumbled and the ending sucks, the ending is still something worth discussing over how much Isayama screwed up compared to the nothingburger endings of Jujutsu Kaisen/Demon Slayer.
>>
>>288808644

I agree with you that their popularity is superficial. My point was more so that their audience is much older than people think it is.
>>
>>288800589
It happens to almost every piece of media nowadays. There's so much easily accesible content that one can simply jump onto the next one immediately.
>>
>>288801046
Shonen is just very derivative in general

Talking about 4chan meta is retarded.
But getting it so wrong is shockingly even more retarded. How many simultaneous daily threads do you need before you'll stop seething?
>>
>>288807381
I feel like Gojo craze went down when he lost.
>>
>>288808707
That's actually true. If my memory serves right, Jujutsu Kaisen's audience skewed heavily into a young adult audience, with some fans hitting their 30s. Demon Slayer's audience is even older than that, with the fans being 30-40 something year olds, some hitting past their 50s.

It really feels like younger people don't watch much anime by comparison.
