My two major gripes with Re:Zero:1. Every piece of lore we learn is either related to the events that happened 400 years ago or the main characters. You never learn something that's not related to the main story, it almost feels like the world of Re:Zero started existing 400 years ago. Even the fucking tree, the white whale, flugel were all related to 400 years ago.2. The strongest characters aren't strong because of their strength, because they trained for years to reach a certain level. They're strong because they were born with an OP ability. This just feels cheap and not satisfying at all when they fight. The Regulus fight for instance was such a disappointment because he's literally not a fighter, he's just a normal guy with an ability that makes him practically immortal.
