I had a conventional romantic relationship and it was awful. My mentally ill ass can't handle other people getting upset because of my emotions or lack there of, or because of things like "I literally need to not be around other people for a significant amount of my time because I gotta manually do a lot of the mental legwork that comes automatically to most people and its so exhausting if I can't get regular breaks to decompress and relax I get so stressed out it makes me suicidally depressed"
The latter being something I didn't even truly know about myself until dating something that took anything less than spending as much time with her as possible as a sign of rejection
So now I feel no envy at all towards fictional romances. It's like seeing someone be a stunt driver or an action hero. Entertaining to watch but I sure as hell don't want to get put through that shit IRL
