I remember my first trade with my entire account. It went up 50% and I had conviction it would go even higher. Then it kept going down and down. In the end I couldn't even sleep and left with 10% profits, partly because I felt like if my idea was right then it would never go that low, and partly to preserve my sanity. After that the price went down another 50%. Remember to cut your losses.

>>291666129
The funny thing is that this is true in a naive sense. Not for the coin, but for the stock market. If the line goes up, it will probably go down. If you bet on it going down, you'll probably win.

But you're still not going to make money like this. The fact you can win most of the time does not make you a good investor. To see why, consider the humble roulette wheel:
>You bet $100 on 35 out of 37 squares
> 94.6% of the time, you win!
Is this a good investment? No. It has an expected return of -$94.6 per round.

Honestly? It feels like she's just staring at a line and guessing while thinking she's doing anything. I don't see how she's better than someone who just buys at a price and sells at a price and doesn't think too much about it. See price? Buy? See price? Sell. Context seems to matter very little.

She comes from nothing and will do anything to win. Kurumi is actually her first 'friend', but she just sees it as practice to building relationships with other people. You guys need to go to a real podiatrist, you know, the specialist in treating feet stuff. And I mean a real one. I suffered from that shit for 3 years, it was terrible looking like a open wound, went to a self-called podiatrist who did jack and only made it worse. Then I finally found a real one in my town, spent 3 months going there first every week then every 2 weeks, she did the proper procedure of removing the nail with local anesthesia and using some sort of powder + wound dressing, and I was finally free of that shit. I still went there every month for more than a year to get my nail cut by her out of fear of it ever coming back, was totally worth it.

What attracts retards to podiatry? I have a similar experience except I only did one session with the first one due to multiple early signs of incompetence. Second one was a podiatry teacher who offered to make the appointment free if he could show it to students, apparently my specific issue can only be fixed with surgery to reshape the actual toe, so I was correct in my assumption that her "solution" (show up every 3 days to fuck around with cotton strips) was bullshit

>>
>>291674190
I feel pretty much the opposite.

I do trade stocks and commodities every so often, and I'm aware how nerve-wracking locking in a good price for a trade is, especially when you're throwing around 10s of thousands of dollars and dealing with rapid change. However, I've been reasonably successful about it and been careful to avoid doing stupid shit, mostly focusing on mid to long term goals estimating the growth potential of the underlying assets. So, looking in on this show, I can see exactly how absolutely retarded the characters are being and how mundane and meaningless the price movements they're dealing with are and have absolutely 0 care or sympathy for their losses; I'm half watching it as amusement porn and context for the inevitable prostitution doujins.

I'm about to become a wizard and have some debt, so the thought of money loss isn't a foreign fear to me, but it's how silly everything is framed and how many risks are being taken in such a short amount of time from our perspective all to rectify the sins of her mother, and yet she's dumb enough to put herself in such a stressful situation that she needs to steal her dads hard earned money to stay safe a little longer?

you could argue that this is possibly a retweaking of a real life experience of the author, and it's probably cruel to say but it's genuinely a stupid series of decisions to make and Mochiko was a bitch to drip feed her into buying in, but she was right in calling her a greedy little piggy.

it makes for an interesting character dynamic and I'm curious where it goes, but I will laugh to see pinky in shambles.

>The probability changes when you add external factors
WOAH. Everything in life has a 50% chance to either happen or not. With the doctor example the chances to success due to protocols it's still 50% but that one doctor managed to raise the odds to 100%, if he fucks up the 11th patient then the odds go down to like 90.9% / 9.1%, that's what a record is. If we talk about the coin example in a vacuum you still have a 50% chance to roll heads or tails, no matter if you flip it a thousand times, but if you flip it 10 times and it lands heads 10 times then the chances for the coin to land heads on the 11th roll are 100%, if it lands tails then the odds go down, simple as.

Really? Covid money 100% got tossed around to normal everyday people. Tons of people I know just got free money and small businesses were just handed out insane loans (millions of dollars), tons of people were also able to just ignore their bills for a while as well. It was utterly insane how much money average everyday people got.

Now obviously most of it ended up in the hands of companies, but that's because it's what people do when given money they didn't earn. They tend to blow it like retards and gamble it away. You can almost use covid as a use case scenario for why giving people free money is a terrible idea for your economy.

>>
>>291680185
It raises the floor on wealth. The poorest of society dictates the cost of basic essentials, so when they get a boost, the cost of basics goes up in accordance. Housing, food, gas, etc.

Which is why it's generally really bad because the middle class which are neither wealthy nor poor feel a lot of crunch when the poorest people get a lot of money. As those in the middle still put a lot of their cash into basic goods.

Here is a good example. Let's say you have a million dollars. You are very rich and very prosperous. If the average person has 10,000 dollars, you are 100x better off than they are. If the government hands everyone 1 million dollars (including you), all of a sudden you went from being very rich and wealthy, to just kind of rich. As all of sudden you go from 100x to 2x richer. Very quickly you can find yourself struggling to make ends meet as prices adjust to the average person having a million dollars.
>>
>>291680550
Okay yeah that makes sense. Thank you!

In my country during Covid only the ones who lost their job and those who already were unemployed got a bit of money, not a whole lot, just enough to get by. So it was actually better for everyone. Not sure how much the businesses got though.

Even in that case it introduces a lot of money into the economy that didn't exist before. Productivity decreased (job cuts/losses) but money in circulation increased. Which generally created increased prices due to supply/demand.

The proper approach was to let the boom/bust cycle occur and let it happen. It would be a hard couple years, but the boom cycle from covid ending would help recover back to the norm. Instead most countries artificially prevented the bust from happening and we still got the massive "boom" from covid ending. Which resulted in a crazy amount of inflation.
>>
>>291680894
isn't it the case that modern economy is too fragile to survive such a bust?
your advice would be fine if the system can take a hit and recover, but there's no point if everything collapses instead
>>

>>291680994

That there's a goat behind door 3 only increased my chances to choose the car. (From 1/3 —> 1/2) Door 1 and 2 (relative to each other) still have the exact same chance to contain the car.

Changing my choice from 1 to 2 wouldn't change anything; regardikg chances it's irrelevant whether I do that or not.

No, the key in both of these situations is the amount of information imparted. The graphic kind of sucks at explaining that the host /has/ to open one of the two doors you did not choose, and /can't/ open a door with a car behind it (which he knows). This imparts enough information into the system that switching doors gives you a better chance at a car. If he just opened one at random, chances of a car would be the same for all doors. In the secret coin toss scenario, no information is given into the system to modify the chances, in a vacuum, from 0.0488%.

not quite
"the system" includes two people, of which one already has the extra information
that's the point I was making, that there is no vacuum when it comes to probability
you can only talk from somebody's perspective
which is usually implicit, but it's actually a quiet assumption

Anon, prices are a factor of multiple things, but primarily it's finding a price which maximizes total number of customers with the highest price they are willing to pay. There is a lot of nuance to finding that golden number.

I could write paragraphs here, because there is so much nuance to this topic. But when the poorest people have more money, it naturally creates pressure on limited goods. That pressure eventually causes price increases due to limited supply. Which eventually creates downward pressure, until it eventually affects things food prices. The scope of the cost increase is largely dependant on who has the influx of money, which is why when it's the poorest, it tends to affect basic goods very fast. Wheras bailing out a bank with billions of dollars tends to be really slow.

Here is an example, if I sell apples and I sell them at capacity (as many apples as I can make in a given year). Every year 95% of my apples sell at market rate of say 5$. Assume most of my clientele are families. Now everyone gets an influx of money. Suddenly my apples are selling at 100% capacity, I'm not really making much more money, and I am also incapable of vastely increasing my production to account for the demand as it's not quick process.

In this example, my only option to increase revenue is to increase the price. If 100% of my product is selling, than the price is likely way to low. So instead I'll increase the price to 7$ and see if people still buy at capacity.

Now sure, I could try to increase production here, but
1. That puts pressure on housing/land priced because EVERYONE is now trying to increase production.
2. It's an extremely risky proposition, as demand could fade if market conditions deteriorate.
3. It could take years before I can ramp up production.
4. It also means hiring more staff, training cost, equipment cost, etc.

>>291683611
so anyone too retarded to get it;
You're statistically more likely to pick one of the dud doors at 1/3 chance of victory and 2/3 chance at failure.
Which of the doors opened is irrelevant because he will always open a dud door. If you stay with your original choice you're betting on winning a 1/3 chance, but if you switch you're changing the rules and instead betting on LOSING the initial 1/3 which turns it into winning a 2/3.
The key being the host will always eliminate one of the dud options effectively making the question "Do you think your initial choice was a 1/3 odds win or a 2/3 odds loss?"
>>
>>291685452
it's almost as if when you generate money instantly and out of nothingness, then processes that exist in actual reality can't keep up, so the money is the side that ends up adapting
if adding money had similar pressures, say, by requiring the procurement of a matching amount of gold, then the scales would be more in balance and it would be harder to give everyone more money without growing more apples
>>
>>291685682
Anon, you might be on to something. It's almost like a reserve on gold, could even call it the gold reserve.

>>291685576
You're still betting on a 1/3 chance to get the car, which would be about 33.3%, all the host does by opening a dud door is raising the odds by 16.4% of your initial choice, that's all, and if you switch doors it just turns into a flat 50% chance to get the car. You have the same chances to get the car regardless of the door you choose.
>>
>>291670911
Just imagine the money she could make off that flat chest.
>>
>>291685866
>t. blondie-level retardation
>>
>>291685866
This would be true if the door that is opened for you was random, meaning there is a chance that you get shown a car instead of a goat. But since the host will never open a door with the car behind it, the chances that the door you didn't choose initially and wasn't opened by the host has a car is indeed 2/3
>>

>Even in that case it introduces a lot of money into the economy that didn't exist before

>>291685682
>it's almost as if when you generate money instantly and out of nothingness, then processes that exist in actual reality can't keep up
lol whole lot of econ 101 discussion going on here
the idea that money is created out of nothing is largely a misunderstanding/myth. the vast majority of money creation comes from manipulation of the interest rate. lower interest rate means more people borrow money, borrowed money is created money, and people don't borrow money unless they think they can create value greater than the interest rate.
>>
So is Kurumi actually going to use some sort of strategy or is praying to kamisama everything?
>>
>>291686061
you just said yourself that money is created
it's the same thing
the situation would be different if banks needed to actually have the money they're lending, rather than, you guessed it, generating it out of nothingness

Oh, wait, you mean that you're betting $100 dollars on EACH of those 35 squares, which is $3,500 for each spin. So, what you're saying is that you hit(win) often, but your losses will ultimately mean that you ultimately lose money anyway, assuming that a hit gives you more money then the $3,500 you put in.
>>
>>291690087
as a former casino dealer, I'll let you in on a secret: only one number can win at a time
but more generally, the odds are always such that you have just below 50% chance to break even
so 1:35 payout on a single number out of 37, since you also get to keep the amount you bet on the winning number

anon's math feels suspect though
I think it should be closer to something like -$5.4

as someone who has never worked in a casino
European (single zero) roulette has an RTP of 97.3% regardless of where you place your chips.

That means for every $100 you bet, on average you will lose $2.7. Many casinos now do double or even triple zero roulette, which is even worse.

That said, you can still profit off of casinos. But the trick is that you don't try to beat the game, you have to metagame.
