is 4chan just a big echo chamber stuck in its ways? where do i go for actual polite discussion about media i like without people resorting to disingenuous behavior?
Outside, where there's no 4fags critiquing every little thing you say [me]
>>34369684maybe ur right
>>34369670you will encounter those kind of people in every place, back before social media, forums were actually used for specific interests.now you will have to join facebook or twitter and find a watered down group that probably has the same issues you talk about.quick rant: we had email, instant messengers, websites, forums ... then facebook came along and now people get all those same things we already had ... but through facebook, or twitter or some other social media shit and that is supposedly better?so basically you have to find people on social media into what you want to talk about because social media killed forums and dedicated websites.
>>34369670Just reply to people who seem normal and ignore ones from people that aren't. Not hard.
>>34369670>people resorting to disingenuous behaviorI would say that to a certain extent, you can find people fighting or being disingenuous anywhere. Getting into arguments and trolling are things some people like to do, even in real life. However, I would say it is probably where Reddit has its advantages. I used to use Reddit (I kept getting my accounts banned though) and due to the rating system, it means people will be less likely to say something entirely off-topic. Mind you, it also can arguably be worse depending on the people, because sometimes they will downvote just for having an opinion they disagree with. What do you mean by "media" in particular? I feel that is quite vague. Do you mean something such as analysing themes in films, or about current news, for instance?
>>34369771mostly tv shows and movies
>>34369670Yes. 4chan is just a alt-right version of Reddit, just with more anonymity. The retarded site culture, mob mentality and pride in unfunny memes are the exact same
>>34369670>polite discussion about media i like/tv/, but i don't like those people
>>34369771I fucking hate Reddit upvote system. It gives lurkers way too much power by never engaging in discussion and simply up/downvoting like an NPC because "le heckin pepe bad" or "erhmagurd le doge le funny." At least here if you dis/agree with something you have to actually type and defend an opinion instead of fencesitting like a pussy
>>34370827Sure, but at least we're not virgin normie reddit faggots. We are chad based 4klan faggots. Clearly 1 is better than the other
>>34369670I feel the same anon. I've found some of that in close knit discord groups, it's pretty much absent everywhere else. As much as chanfags like to act superior to redditfags, they're just two sides of the same coin at this point. Didn't always used to be this way, but stormfags and polfags made it what it is now.
>>34369670Namefagging was the gateway for 4chan being an echochamber should have always stayed anons
>>34369670Every 4chan cope boils down to the same tired fantasy: something *good* is always just over the horizon. Alien disclosure is coming to earth, Hitler 2.0 rising from the ashes, Jesus descending to smite their enemies, Trump and the globohomo awakening in two weeks, mass genocide solving all their problems, or the magical day when everyone suddenly agrees with their garbage takes. It’s all hopium for losers who can’t deal with the present. Instead of doing anything meaningful, they sit in their digital basements praying for a future that never comes. Every post is just another round of "just wait, you’ll see," while the rest of the world keeps living, laughing, and leaving them behind. The truth? Nothing’s coming. No savior, no reckoning, no mass awakening, no shift in opinions. It’s just endless cope for people too powerless to face reality. The only thing in their future is more disappointment and deep down, they know it.
