Me and my BF had our son in 2023, and our daughter in 2025. Our son is called Leon and our daughter is called Claire. I thought these were beautiful names and was told they were "family names" from my BF's great-grandparents, which made them all the more meaningful.Recently I reconnected with an online friend and told them about our kids' names and they responded "Oh, after Resident Evil?" Sure enough I googled it and Leon and Claire are the names of the two main characters from the game series. I confronted my BF and he admitted he made up the story about his great-grandparents and that he always intended to name our kids after the video game characters.I'm so angry about this I haven't spoken to him in days. It just feels like a betrayal, especially considering he knows how much I hate video games and gaming culture. At the same time it feels like its too late to change our kids names and I've already gotten used to them. But I can't deal with everyone for the rest of my life thinking I named my son and daughter after pixels on a screen. How do we proceed from here?
