Can rats really bond with you? I've been heavily considering buying some pet rats recently. I've heard a lot of people say that rats can bond with their human owners but I wanna settle this, can they?
>>
Nobody wants to bond with you

It's not worth it, they only live for three years tops. There's a reason rat trannies are even bigger emotional disaster zones than regular trannies. They're constantly in a state of mourning over incontinent animals. Just get a dog like a normal person.
>>
Just get a plant honestly

Kind of cruel to use an animal to fill the void in your heart, prayer will help you

>Just get a plant honestly
Or one better, mushrooms.

if you want a real bond get yourself a nice wife and kids
pets are poor placeholders for family bonding

Low IQ take. Understanding that our non-human family members are family members is literally older than written history.

If making an entirely new person is the only way you can get someone to love you you can be sure that your kids will grow up to despise you.
>>
>>4781618
Honestly this, but realistically it's just not feasible for most people.
>>
>>4781618
Just so you know, this is a neo-nazi trying really, really, REALLY hard to say "if you put resources into anything but making 30 white babies it's probably a jewish plot".

Ironically hitler himself kept pets and this is a feature of the nu-right which is state controlled opposition, founded and directed by CIA plants in order to control elections and pre-emptively neuter social movements.
>>
>>4781762
fucking alt right nutzis never shut up with their pet hate.
>Are rats good pets?
>OMG CHILD SUBSTITUTES THIS IS WHERE OUR BIRTH RATES WENT
>cost of feeding a fucking rat: $5/month
they didn't come up with this on their own because every alt right icon has a dog or something. it's definitely an idea implanted in their tiny 85 IQ brains to make them easier to dislike.
>>
>>4781762
Just so you know, your house smells like cat piss.
>>
>>4781764
>Cats outta nowhere
The nazi's next line will be something about dog rape, I'm sure of it.

>Noooo stop having pets just get a wife and have kids HAVE KIDS HAVE KIDS
They are not mutually exclusive, you fool. But what would you know about critical thinking?
>>
>>4781763
>paying $5 on gourmet rat chow
Just give it your leftover garbage for free. Rats love that shit.
>>
>>4781618
>simply do [EXTREMELY DIFFICULT THING]
>>
>>4781513
No, they can’t. Rat lovers are some of the biggest pet copers on the planet, they’re bottom tier rodents, and rodents are already bottom tier animals.
>>
>>4781513
Anon, we have a rat general so you can avoid this shit.
Rats will have unique personalities and bonding can vary from rat to rat but generally if they're handled from a young age, they will bond with you.
As warned they live 2 to 3 years, either you can get used to it or not.

>>4781762

probably true to an extent but basedcialists/cummunists are even worse in that regard

TSMT
just weird as fuck in general too
>>4781618
I mean you’re not wrong but you can have both, a pet can help a family bond better even
>>
>>4781763
careful with that talk of IQ incel, you sound like a nazi yourself
>>
>>4781618
I've reckoned with the idea of having a family. Sometimes, you gotta know when to roll with the punches. You gotta know when to double down on your autism, and when to start adopting normie aspects and just live in a house full of pets that just smells like piss all day and it's a huge hassle and the parasites from cat shit are getting into your brain and turning you into a manic asshole. I'll have my white kids. And they'll grow up in a house full of wonder and imagination, where his parents are always loaded up on coffee, where you can't go five minutes without having to break up a fight between a dog and a ferret. This is my dream.
>>
>>4781513
they are cool pets but live very little
>>

Thank you anon, I'm just wondering, how intelligent are rats? I've been very inquisitive on this subject for the past few days. Sometimes I see videos of rats and they seem almost soulful, but then sometimes they seem like these creatures who don't even remember anything past a five-minute window. Tell me anon, how complex is a rat's intelligence?
>>
lmao schizos cant go even 10 post before blurting about le hecking natzees

It's very easy for normies
>>
>>4781836
It's kinda hard to define. They're good at noticing patterns & routines and where & when to interact in them e.g. when & how to get my attention when passing. Their building and puzzling solving skills are impressive. I think they're prone to panic and target fixation at times e.g. seem to panic they'll miss a treat and walk straight off something.
It does vary between rats, even brothers can be a smart guy and a trier.

Rats have "impressive" skills because they are simply mammals and easy to study with scientific rigour, thereby impressively defining their skills. If they were any more complex, they would behave more irrationally from our POV (theory of mind is mere theory, they are internally rational according to their own experience) and experiments would be too difficult to control.

You need to remember these things have tiny, tiny brains and represent something barely above the baseline for mammalian intelligence. Everything rats do, every larger mammal does, usually better, and the only difference is larger, smarter mammals do not repeatedly do it for scientists under bizarre laboratory conditions or their behavior is so complex and based on so many unique, internal perceptions that we can not decipher it without technological mind reading.

>the only difference is larger, smarter mammals do not repeatedly do it for scientists under bizarre laboratory conditions or their behavior is so complex and based on so many unique
That proves cats being the most intellectually advanced mammal pet.
>Rats, dogs and pigs would mindlessly follow lab experiment instructions.
>Cats don't

>tiny, tiny brains and represent something barely above the baseline for mammalian intelligence
Or demonstrates how efficiently it can be done
>do not repeatedly do it for scientists under bizarre laboratory conditions
Take your pick of PF Skinner experiments. A lot of mammals are as trainable as rats and could be considered more complex e.g. Rhesus monkeys
>we can not decipher it without technological mind reading
Like was needed in the second link?
I think the other post demonstrates they are more complex than people perceive and not as limited by their tiny brains as you might think.
>>
>>4782512
It actually means cats are smarter than rats, but in what specific ways, we can not know 100%, because our theory of mind is incompatible with their reality of mind.

They are also dumb in unique ways that we do not and probably won't truly understand for a long, long time. Their brains are alien, almost like a different species.

>>4782888
>No bro rats are totally more efficient and their tiny brains dont limit them and
Or maybe, trainability is a very primitive thing that doesn't require a lot of brainpower, and it's important we don't conflate it with intelligence because an entire civilization has been trying and failing to train me to get a real job and follow the speed limit, and I reliably get 120-130 on real life proctored IQ tests.

A rat is not as smart as a rhesus monkey. A rhesus monkey is just as cooperative for food, which makes sense because the ones cooperating with it are also other primates who have an innate, unconscious knowledge of primate tendencies.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Encephalization_quotient
As creatures get bigger, more brain power is required simply for controlling their larger bodies. A good estimative of brain power in the sense we understand is through the encephalization quoeficient, which is closer to the "net amount" of brain a creature has.

I also found this video very interesting:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5EcQ1IcEMFQ
It highlights some of the differences between the internal perception of reality amongst different creatures.

Overall, intelligence is the product of many things: relative brain size, neural density, synapse efficiency, neural cell specialization, epigenetics, and that's just the few major factors I can recall right now. You shouldn't assume a creature is smarter or dumber because it appears simple or small - intelligence is more dependent on how much pressure natural selection put on the creature. Rats are social animals - that alone usually means they're extremelly smart, as that's not only a quality which requires a lot of intelligence to even pull it off but also one which rewards intelligence due its social benefits on top of wilderness survival.
>>
>>4782894
>>4782888
I will add that monkeys are not a fair comparison - very few creatures look smart next to them. Dolphins, octupuses, crows and monkeys are more or less the smartests creatures around.
>>
>>4782512
One thing I've noticed about cats is they seem to understand what's going on on TV. They really like Tom and Jerry. It's fascinating.
>>
>>4782499

im a nazi and I say that, so

Ratcopers going crazy in here lmao

le internet IQ brag

crows have fucking tiny brains but studies show them to be pretty smart

the main reason there aren't studies on lots of other animals is because it's hard to get funding and then it's hard to take care of them and also hard to get IACUC approval, not because other animals are unstudiable

Unfortunately it isn't even a neo nazi, it's a retarded boomer, they're much more common and less universally despised
>>
>>4783477
Dogs have been bonding with Humanity since Humanity as we know it developed. Yes, dogs are important and yes, humans bond more easily and deeply with dogs than other beasts.
>>
>>4784467
>Dogs have been bonding with Humanity since Humanity as we know it developed
This doesn't prove they bond more easily however, only that there's been a longer time devoted to improving that bond. Not that it had a better rate of success.
