On the bottom left is a custom little timer I use to track work time and breaks, big thing on the left screen is photoshop(the colorful bits are custom actions), right screen is just file explorer and 2 browsers - one for work with chat open and other personal. My job is doing some 3d stuff for games. Picrel is sunrise from main room.

I'm pretty good at work and it's a good job and is the exact niche for my weird way of doing things, but I was really tired of listening to office drama and politics so now I can work in peace. Only tough thing is keeping 100% focused on work and making sure that I separate work time from leisure instead of dragging it out over the entire day, making it feel like I'm on some 14 hour shift.

Yeah I started with Photoshop when I was like 10yo so just used to it.
For work we have to use Maya because of pipelines set in place for like 20 years, but I used to use 3ds Max before I got the job.
I dug up some obscure screenshot of some generic houses I did that would be very hard to trace, and you can't even tell what game it is.
My specialty is doing low res / low tri background assets so they are very optimized and not very detailed if you got closer, almost nothing is modeled, mostly just faked in the texture.

thats annoying, do you find not having a choice of software limits ur creativity?
>almost nothing is modeled, mostly just faked in the texture.
interesting, i guess its kinda like landscape painting, if you tried to paint a forest tree by tree youd go crazy long before you finished but if you jsut bob ross it you can make a reasonably detailed looking painting in a short amount of time

I started with 3ds max just because I was interested in architectural visualization and most people seemed to be using that back in like 2009. Switching to maya was tough but it did supercharge my workflow, I had to figure out how to do everything I did in max and that got me into scripting, and now I use a ton of scripts and hotkeys. What I do is not that creative, maybe some of the optimization and "corner cutting" to save tris and texture space is that, but mostly it's just about copying reality or accomodating what the game map needs. I'm more technical than creative I guess.
In painting you have to paint the entire thing, but what I do is create just the minimum set of elements needed for a thing, and then just duplicate them and put them together like lego.

So what creative or whatever stuff you did with gimp or paint.net?

Picrel is just a random digital painting I like.

ah maybe its for the best then
>maybe some of the optimization and "corner cutting" to save tris and texture space is that
yeah thats more what i was thinking was the creative side rather than the visuals, the visual side is creative too tho just not necessarily very expressive.
>So what creative or whatever stuff you did with gimp or paint.net?
just memes and silly images
