Serverside or userside?

For the users, mods actually enforcing rules against spam and deleting illegal stuff would probably help some. I don't know how well this website can naturally grow at this point, but keeping it relatively small and niche will help it "live" longer, if you get rid of all the spam and such.
As far as the server side, if the goal is to just raise the average daily user count, there's no real easy way to do that while keeping the website culture as is. This website is largely unmonetizable as far as modern advertisers are concerned due to its background among other things, and having web traffic is expensive, on top of advertising a website with a rather notorious reputation to the greater public. Mods would have to censor this place like reddit and kill 50% of the current userbase.

Just my first thoughts on it, I dunno. 4chan might be able to make a comeback someday

I've said this before, but the only real scenario where the website improves and sticks around is if someone independently wealthy buys it and restores it for non agenda-driven purposes. The current leaders are intent on running it into the ground and there's no chance of positive change until Hiro sells and 'ape is gone..
