But there is this vicious circle that you have to overcome and that is the housing and income circle. You can't have a job here if you don't live here, and you can't just rent a place if you don't have a job. The way I did it was through a Danish fren. Get yourself a Danish fren and go live with him. It's important that he knows about this too, don't hide in his attic like you're Anne Frank. Bring some money that will get you started for at least a few months. Then, with your fren go to the kommune (municipality) and get yourself registered as a resident there. He must be there to vouch for you. After some time you will get assigned a CPR number (it's like a social security number). With this number you can now apply for jobs. Vikarjobs (jobs through temp agencies) are typically your gateway jobs for this. If you work somewhere long enough and do a good job they eventually have to give you a steady contract. Now you're ready to enter the housing market. Make sure to thank your Danish fren with cheese for all of his services.
