Another really common thing people play in rock is the first + 3rd interval, that is not a powerchord either. With different tunings the exact same "barre" handshape can play any combination of notes. Calling a chord a barrre chord just refers to how you are playing it. Power chord refers to the notes composing it. In rock that's usually just the first and fifth + octave. You can play them inverted (same fret on E and A and then the one two positions up on D) that gives you a different quality but is the 5th + root + 5th an octave up.
