Average day was around 40 calls. I graduated during covid and just needed a job, so it was whatever. I was making like $18 an hour or something stupid. Passed all the required security exams. Became a broker. Did pretty well there. Started working with the derivatives team with a focus on high net worth individuals. Was placing ~$9mil worth of trades for clients every day. Super stressful. Massive risk for me. Imagine placing nearly 8 figures worth of trades daily while only making $19 an hour.Essentially your end of year performance review (and potential bonus/salary increase) was entirely dependent on your customer survey scores. The way it works at Schwab is every survey has 7 questions, with answers ranging from 1 through 7. Classic stuff like "1 means unsatisfied. 7 means very satisfied". 49 is the "perfect" score" You'd think Schwab would just takes the score from each question and average them out right? RIGHT?!?!No. If you score a 7/7 (or 49 total points) then it counts as 100%. If you score anything below that it counts as a 0%. So if you scored a 48/49. that counts as a 0%. Brutal. Schwab also requires you to have above 70% in order to qualify for a bonus/salary increase. Schwab also has a zero tolerance policy for unjustified surveys.I once missed out on a bonus because someone gave me poor feedback and I never even fielded their call. Schwab's system detected it was incorrectly routed to me, so it automatically transferred the call to the proper line. Customer gave me a bad review not realizing I wasn't actually the person she spoke to. "Didn't meet expectations" because of that, and 2 weeks later I put in my notice.Job was a complete fucking scam.
