No, it doesn't feel that way. They were attempting deliberate overproduction but got carried away, prices got too depressed and even before Iran they were using Sulphur byproducts for 1/3rd of their income due to prewar agricultural prices. Now it is nearly 50% in some cases, once the gulf reopens the Saudi's will crash Sulphur prices and Chinese Copper will be in a bad place. They will recover but they will have a rough quarter or two. Both commodities will remain profitable but the margins for a few of the bigger companies will be extremely tight.

The game in the market atm seems to be to identify the chokepoints in AI supply chains. The most obvious were NVDA, TSMC, etc. The memory chokepoint caught a lot of people by surprise. Flash memory even moreso. Every time the market identifies a chokepoint the relevant companies pop as we have seen. So what will be the next chokepoint? We had GPUs, CPUs bottlenecking GPUs, RAM bottlenecking CPUs and GPUs, and flash bottlenecking RAM. What bottlenecks flash? Is it network hardware? After that will be power? Also looking upstream, when do the companies supplying materials for fabrication/packaging of chips, fibre optic cabling etc. start bottlenecking data centre construction or the deployment of compute clusters?

What's the play?

Same. It spent £192m on a plantation that specialises in propagation so they now have a solid supply of young trees as well as their established croppers. It's a savvy move.
If it was just palm oil it would be great but the rubber side of the business gives them some diversity. Especially during a petrochemical product shortage as synthetic rubbers are scarce. It's slowly raising natural rubber prices.
I think they will blow through analyst top estimates of £20.70 by next week desu.
It's a dark horse and a very easy hold. Dividends were announced too at 43.7p per. On July 30nd. Which is nice.

This is what I was thinking. Corning is the major manufacturer of fibre optic cables.
I'm also interested in network hardware (switches, optical transceivers) but AVGO, CSCO, Lumentum, etc. already popped. I wonder who makes the network chips in mesh CPUs like Arm's new 192 core mesh. They use routers and switches internally.

>>62204104
>i think shortages to a degree have helped these companies.
Yeah because when they can't meet the demand for their products, they can charge more and that means more profit so the stock goes up. But that only works if their own capacity is the bottleneck - if they can't meet demand because they can't get the materials then it means they're paying more for materials and it's the guy selling to them who gets the profit.

>if there is a CPU shortage i think its barely started and explains some of the move in INTC, AMD, and ARM.
I haven't heard about a CPU shortage but I do know Arm has a big list of buyers for their new chip. Meta and OpenAI for example. I wouldn't be surprised if the same situation as RAM ends up happening with CPUs.

Once your portfolio is big enough you can ride out the dips a lot easier and invest longer term.
When portfolio is small you are chasing bigger wins on shorter timeframes and can't afford to take the bits of prolonged dippening.

>What happens when it's cheaper to pay an indian to write emails than it is to pay an AI sub?
That will never happen.
AI is just going to get better and cheaper unironically.
AI right now is like the Benz motorwagen.
A one-cylinder glorified tricycle with 2/3rds of a horsepower and a top speed of 9mph.
A thorough bred horse could run laps around it (30mph).
But if you were a person in the 1800s who thought ze motorwagenz would never beat the thoroughbred horses, you’d be wrong.
Add a few more cylinders, a little bit more efficiency, iterations, and the balance of power changes.

This is basically what AI companies are racing towards. They want to build the V8, memory capacity is their engine displacement.
Whether this all works out financially is another story that remains to be seen.

>Tanks still are needed for mobile warfare and breakthroughs
You realise there are already ground based drones doing these jobs? They are holding front line positions, advancing on enemy fortifications, they're even taking prisoners. (First was a few months ago)
They are heavily armed, light, don't require armour as cheap and easily replaced with no humans inside to protect, manouverable and getting more autonomous by the day.
Linked to observation drones flying above you've got a killing machine at a fraction of the cost without the risk to actual humans.
The Ukrainians aim to replace 35% of all frontline troops with these by eoy and are making great progress.
With drones easily covering 70km now the tank is dead in the water. It can't even get near a breakthrough in the line. They are finished.

In the Permian Basin, water production significantly outpaces hydrocarbon volumes, with the basin currently producing roughly 3 to 4 barrels of water for every 1 barrel of oil.

I’m willing to learn. I’ve gotten my poorfolio to 125k from 0 in about 6 years so you’re clearly doing something better than me. If you don’t wanna spoon feed me at least direct me to what to research. Can vibe code some and have been fucking around with options without getting wrecked for about a year now. Also I’m a STEM grad so math doesn’t scare me. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

I'm over it really. Literally why I now focus my numerical skills on stock investing instead now. Oh you think my cash flow analysis is bullshit? Who cares? The stock is printing.

My point is that AI believers get attacked with the same "hurr duur it's not star trek magic so it doesn't count!". It's asinine and detracts from the peple putting in serious work to make a viable product. And I say this as someone who hates AI.

It's actual war but trump says ceasefire wasn't broken.
Which is retarded. Not sure if markets will accept that but given what they've been accepting recently they probably will.
Until they don't. It's not going away.

This reminds me of arguing on Reddit in 2019. On one hand you had the boomers who thought any design beyond a regular helicopter was stupid and on the other you had the obese sci-fi basement dwellers who shit on any tech that uses conventional physics. Then there was me in the middle. Kind of like right now where the options and LETF crowd think stock picking is for boomers while the VOO and chill crowd think stock picking is gambling. I'm always le enlightened centrist

Tanking is not going to happen, they are expanding so revenue is a bit down but they have a huge stockpile ($750 mil) and no debt. They crab with the market but the 5 year chart speaks for itself.

I like them because of the simple financials and if i want do muddle around with dips and bumps they are fine for that but you can just hold it for a while if a 48 hour swing doesn't happen.

Well Mr. Mumu this is the point at which you get to pat yourself on the back that I was wrong.

I was wrong and did lose money.

Unfortunately, while it is tempting to give up and call it all fake and gay, everyone retarded, become a Hawaiian shirt guy, and so on and so fourth... I cannot.

The more the market beats me the more I love her.
In my professional life I can predict everything.
Who will go up, who is on the way down, what people will do, who will team up with who at the office.

But the market, she steps on me. She surprises me with pain. She outplays me. Every time I have her figured out and start feeling confident, she's standing around a corner with a baseball bat and whaw.

There is no other as far as my heart is concerned.
I cannot become a buy and hold fag. I cant become just a shorter. Or a astrology for men lines worshiping day scalper.

I will only accept total comprehension of the gestalt.

I have time. And I will learn to time her.
Even if I finally achieve my goal sitting in medical bed at the retirement facility at 80 years old.

I am prepared to lose money for decades.
But this is a loss, a humiliating defeat of which there will be, I am sure, many more.
