>>62428529Catching on to the modern economy. This isnt your grandfather or fathers economy anymore. Theyre ruining lives by recycling employees its cheaper. Sad times
>>62428541> ruining lives by recycling employees its cheaper.People over that are over 30 get fired and then hired for jobs meant for lower level or entry level. I keep hearing this.
wait... what's the point of the office job if there is no job security? why would oyu even accept something with "entry-level pay" when there is no guarantee you'll even remain? shouldnt people demand higher wages to compensate for income volatility?
>>62428551> what's the point of the office job if there is no job security? For the salary you get paid for showing up. > why would oyu even accept something with "entry-level pay" when there is no guarantee you'll even remain? Because you’re worth entry level pay and there isn’t a guarantee you yourself wouldn’t quit. > shouldnt people demand higher wages to compensate for income volatility?Lmao. Wtf. This isn’t how it works. Wtf?
>>62428567>Lmao. Wtf. This isn’t how it works. Wtf?kek, that's part of the scam now>i'll make $120k a year starting after my degree!>unpaid internshipthen the doom loop:>apply for months, interview with AI. get into the 9th round of interviews with rejection many times by sheer coincidence.>finally secure $80k job>"whew I can start now, cant live my life yet">need to pay off debt and rent>layoff>repeatwhen will people realize they will never have the stable life they were sold?
>>62428567https://www.reddit.com/r/Layoffs/comments/1uiziol/laid_off_but_non_desperate_people_what/even seniors in tech and finance are accepting paycuts? wow and people thought WFH was great. turns out offshoring makes it mean there is no reason to pay you more.
>>62428594If your job can be wfh, then anyone in the world can do the job for cheaper.
Fulltime employees just keep getting fucked. A member of the c suite in my old company said in a meeting that you can't expect to have a stable position for ten years anymore. It's absolutely routine for people to be hired, milked for whatever knowledge they have that's desired, then they get managed out. You're a contractor even if you're a fulltime employee.
>>62428808We really do have a permanent underclass now.
>>62428757>>62428811>permanent underclassyep, class mobility has no reason NOT to be exponentially more difficult.>>62428808why do people still think they'll keep their job though? is it on purpose so that they dont leave prematurely?
>>62428529Everything on reddit is fake. Post an Apu or Pepe if you want to post fake stories.
>>62428529A lot of these "people" are legit DEI hires, who now that they arent subsidized with government gibs, are facing the cruel reality of being a grown adult with no skills and a below average intelligence
Heloo
>>62428551>shouldnt people demand higher wages to compensate for income volatility?Corpo figured out how to win with covid, there's no leverage for the worker to demand anything anymore>Raise prices on everything 500%>Fire everyone>Savings+unemployment income < new normal>Everyone who made $150k has to take an entry job paying $50k just to survive>Repeat until every citizen and import has been run through then fuck off to your castle on an island
>>62428841>why do people still think they'll keep their job though? is it on purpose so that they dont leave prematurely? Some people are allowed to keep their jobs. They have friends so they're not on the chopping block seemingly no matter what. They'll get moved to a different set of responsibilities as needed for protection if they're favored.Any time there's concern about whatever work they have their name associated with not having staying power they just get moved to something else that sounds better and it's trumped up by the manager to protect them. I've seen plenty of people who were just awful but they had nothing to worry about and even got promotions in that environment because the manager was very good at bullshitting. Corporate is a game of optics and politics.
>>62428924Doesn't look out of the ordinary. I had coworkers get laid off after being there just a few months after they were hired from being laid off somewhere else lol.I also had such job volatility because I kept landing on trash teams I was desperate to get out of but got actually laid off only once.
>>62428938>Everyone who made $150k has to take an entry job paying $50k just to surviveThis. Entry level jobs are full of experienced people. >>62428841> yep, class mobility has no reason NOT to be exponentially more difficult.Yeah, it is so over. >>62428924Reddit and X are global town squares. lol. I don’t get involved there either except to copefarm. The normie npc socialist lefist culture I cannot stand, same for X, but you’re dumb if you thinking reddit isn’t “real.”
>>62429004>Entry level jobs are full of experienced people.back to square one kek, so much for "oh bro your experience will be your job security!" LMFAO
>>62428529>posting reddit screenshotsGTFO of this board, communist faggot.
>>62429016Correct.>your experience will be your job securityEasily taken. See >>62428808>absolutely routine for people to be hired, milked for whatever knowledge they have that's desired, then they get managed outOnly the good old boys club with strong alliances and entrenched in the department are ok. Everyone else is just a resource.
>>62429137>milked for whatever knowledge they have that's desired, then they get managed outI don't know why people think a job is some sort of charity, the moment your wage doesn't justify itself why do you think they'll just pay your mortgage? because... and there you have it, harder to fire someone you like and want to think you need around right?it should be immediately obvious but people just drank the kool aid and think that job security is still a thing because... it just is for some reason? I dont know why.
>>62429149Pre-2000s, or gfc, people had actual careers lol.
>>62429149same with meritocracy, another fantasy.
>>62428529there's no point in pursuing certain white collar 'professions.' a friend's wife works in UI/UX and was laid off nearly a year ago. she's having a lot of trouble finding work despite having a decade of experience, because UI/UX has been decimated by AI tools and indians. if, by chance, she finds a new job, she'll likely be laid off in another year or two. it's effectively a dying profession. many other white collar professions are in the same position. you're better off re-training to something more stable, even if it pays less money.
>>62429749>she's having a lot of trouble finding work despite having a decade of experiencehow do people read sentences like this and think "yeah i'm still gonna try to get MAHSELF A WHITE-COLLAH CUHREEER"
>>62429757I am genuinely, seriously on LSD so I'm sorry if this was misread.what im trying to say is, it's becoming clearer that the "mythical white collar career" sounds like a bad fucking idea that is unstable, yet people keep meandering into it like it's going to change for the better or not. it's like fukcing sanity.
