Basically there is thing called Keynesianism which to simplify, prescribed money printing as an antidote to crashes(Keynes actual perspective is much more narrowly scoped but that’s not convenient for politicians)

That’s basically what we’ve been doing for decades and Japan is the experimental giga version of it. It’s can kicking and has stopped working in Japan so canary in the coal mine has died and we’re screwed

Rates are rising faster in France than elsewhere because my country is a socialist hellhole. Incapable of reform and overrun by immigrants and one of the leading candidates in the upcoming election is openly talking about defaulting on the debt. There, I’ve said it.

That is deceiving, France is in a much better starting position for global economic collapse than its peers since it is nearly self-sufficient both in terms of agriculture and power production. Migration is weugheing heavily on you (as it does on all EU members) but this is a soft factor since your government can simply choose at any point to stop importing migrants. Take Germany, its yields are ripping less violently, but it won't be able to magically undismantle its nuclear power plants.

Pension funds are no longer autopilot buying government debt after Trump spooked them a bunch of times, so governments have to provide competitive yields to attract them now, which makes interest payments cumbersome, which means they need to spend less and/or tax more.

It’s not really hyper inflation but yield curve control because a deleveraging is mandated by the bond market. This will be high inflation but not hyper inflation imo
>>

Big institutions like pension funds are forced by regulators to buy them. I think it’s because it was written in the 60:40 days and bonds were implied to be safe

Unironically, even though it sucks, France still has way more leeway than its neighboors. See the retirement age? Yeah, France is at the bottom compared to its peer.
What are the other ones going to do when they're already at 67 and currently are in the process of pushing it to 70? Push it to fucking 74? They have no leeway anymore. France does.

>>62734340

>>62734168
As retarded as LFI is, the proposal isn't to default on the debt, it's to cancel public debt owned by the ECB (ourselves) to reduce the overall debt and therefore reduce the interest at which we borrow.
It's not that dumb all things considered, the market would not freak out because it would be consensual cancellation of debt, unilateral cancellation would scare private investors away and make the rates hike but we're not talking about that.
>>
>>62734360
>lets just cancel our debt!
least delusional french post
>>
>>62734367
If I owe you 10 bucks and we both agree to forget about it there is absolutely zero reason that would freak out private investors from lending me money, if I tell you that i'm simply not going to pay you back and you disagree, now private investors will distrust me
Hope this helps

Nuclear reactors are nice and all but how they going to fix a budget deficit almost -6% gdp and the fact projected economic growth is next to 0%?
Just looking at some nuclear reactors and determining all is well economically is like comparing apples to oranges.
Guess who else had nuclear power and on top of that self reliance on food and energy? The Soviet Union.

Increasing the retirement age while importing millions of working age foreigner coolies and watching life expectancy drop (due to decreases in access to and quality of healthcare, climate destruction, pollution, obesity, cancer) is tragically hilarious. When will governments across the West finally admit they're not planning to pay for anyone's retirement?

Gov gives only 3%to me for holding their bonds, valued in fiat
I make maffs, they print to much money, fiat will inflate and those 3% wont be profitable to me at all
Gov still issue bonds at 3% and I dont by...
Gov issue bonds at 4% I still dont buy
Gov issue bonds at 4.5%, some make maffs and buy, but Gov need more fiat
Gov issue bonds at 5%, I make maffs... yeah, maybe I will buy some, but hmm... if Gov is desperate... maybe tomorrow they will give 7%
And its what you have here

Its an orchestrated collapse. They are preparing for the last stage of the "you will own nothing and be happy" plan. They will probably reset the economy and implement a centralized economic system based on smart contracts (crypto), that will be connected to surveillance systems and a social credit algorithm.

>>
>>62734257
>try to balance the budget
>gdp instantly drops as activity propped up by public spending disappears, tax revenues drop
>try to balance the budget

repeat to a death spiral

except it is politically impossible to balance the budget to begin with because of the nature of democracies and US party politics
maybe the democrats will try to focus on upper class taxation a bit once they win, only to find out it's not enough AND get hit by the laffer curve, at which point they will just blame the debt crisis entirely on trump (and they will be partially right)

You were right in the sense that part of the Soviet Union was the Chernozem belt, some of the most fertile soil on earth.

Unfortunately, the Chernozem belt is farther north than other agricultural heartlands like the American one, meaning it receives extremely inconsistent rainfall and is often arid despite the excellent soil. So you have to use it extremely efficiently. If it's a bumper crop year you have to be ready to store and preserve it, if it's a famine year you have to have preserves ready.

And of course because it was the Soviet Union, they screwed this up in every way you could imagine: inexperienced bureaucrats telling the farmers how to run their farms, weight quotas and private/public plots that incentivized poor practices, no grain elevators, no refrigerated trucks, roads not even paved, broken tractors.

And really when you look west you immediately realize it was probably just a racial problem. Working with shitty soil and very little land, with their only advantage being sitting in the center of Europe, the Netherlands became a world leader in agricultural export just through pure efficiency and coordination and planning.
