State actor. Likely Working Group on Financial Markets. Aka Plunge Protection Team.

The barrels are actually selling for this price. It’s just keeping the headline futures price under 100 for political purposes. There is no free market anymore. Hasn’t been for a while. Treasury might even be making market interventions through intermediaries.

Rough Asian session overnight.

SK Hynix: -10.1%. One of the biggest casualties. HBM/AI-memory exposure suddenly became the thing investors wanted to dump.

* Kioxia: -13.3%. Japanese NAND/memory producer and probably the standout large tech loser.

* Samsung Electronics: -7.4%. Memory competition fears hit it hard alongside Hynix.

* SoftBank: about -8%. Important because it’s essentially a leveraged AI/Arm/OpenAI sentiment vehicle now.

* Tokyo Electron: roughly -7%. Semiconductor fabrication equipment - so the selling moved beyond memory producers into the AI capex supply chain.

* Kokusai Electric: -9.5%. Another semiconductor-equipment casualty.

* Advantest: roughly -5% to -6%. AI-chip testing equipment; another former major beneficiary of the AI buildout.

* TSMC: about -2%. Considerably more resilient than the Korean/Japanese memory and equipment names, but still firmly caught in the selloff.

The indices tell the story: Korea’s KOSPI finished around -5.5% after being down more than 7% intraday; Japan’s Nikkei -1.82%; Taiwan roughly -2%.

Only thing that will save the bubble now is a spectacular state bailout. Trillions. The debt markets are choking. Rate spreads for financing it all are taking an unlikely payback proposition to a preposterous one.

Banks are accelerating trying to get the debt off its books. Desperately trying to find insurance companies or use these special risk transfers. Who buying? IPOs sinking.

Just too much debt to digest. Political winds shifting after Trump is lame duck soon. Massive litigation headwinds to the data centres backlog. Many will never be built. There is a LOT of memory and GPUs just sitting around warehoused. The feast for chip and memory makers. Could very rapidly become a famine.

Beware AI anons.
>>
Dems are going to win the House and possibly the Senate, then Trump is going to instruct Bessent to stop propping up the market so he can blame the crash on Democrats. Then he'll start bombing Iran again

I agree. Therefore it’s only going one direction. They could just monetise the debt. But then miners would be the play to be honest. Either way. AI bond holders won’t be saved.

Logically you would follow the 4% rule in a sense that you keep the inflation in mind. For example you take out 40k per year (assuming you have 1 million) then the next year (let's assume that inflation increased by 2%) you take out 40k + 2%, so 40.8k etc.

There's nothing wrong with dividends and I would assume that most people in retirements would go that route. But at the same time certain people have a much higher risk tolerance and would have 100% in equities for example (some people might split 50/50 etc). I used the words "take out" sloppily but you get my point

You're fucking retarded if you're buying dividend stocks in your 20s or 30s.

You're wrong about buying dividend stocks when you're young. You get an opportunity to load up at 2008 or covid lows like once every 10-15 years, those opportunities come around again, but if you have losses incurred when you could have just bought some dividend shit at a 20 or more percent discount, its like you get nothing instead of letting that shit compound with more time.

you fundamentally don't understand stocks if you think dividends are objectively a good thing
they're just one component of total return that is usually more stable than price appreciation but not by much and the tradeoff is you usually give up the growth component because most divy stocks are mature with little to no growth left in them

Growth will always outpace dividend yield given enough time.

I did some math. If you invested 10k into VOO vs. SCHD in 2011, didn't put another dime into from them until today but allowed dividend reinvestment you'd have about

VOO: $84,032
SCHD: $63,786

You're literally paying 20k to be retarded.

I keep hearing that futures oil prices are heavily manipulated and only exist on paper, but futures contracts are for physical delivery of oil at a future date. You don't have to take delivery if you sell the contract to someone else, but to create a futures contract, you need to be able to physically deliver the oil to a customer. If there actually is manipulation going on, it sounds like free money for anyone with the ability to take delivery of oil. They'd buy up as many futures contracts they could take delivery for and sell the oil immediately at a huge markup. It doesn't make sense.

>>
>>62777076
No. Absolutely not. There are three ways to invest. You can either be a boomer with your 401k and go into BND and never think about. Or you can be an income fag and go corporate bonds like VTC/VCLT/SPHY. Or you can do the third and trade bonds based on the shifting global bond market that trades 24/7/365 without a break.

Actual, true bond investing is like flying through the warp in 40k. You might get through but you're going to missing parts of your body and soul.

Fun fact of the day: In traditional Korean folklore, a rat is believed to turn into a person's doppelganger (mimic) if it eats their discarded fingernail or toenail clippings.

Unrelated fact: KOSPI is down 33% from its ATH this year.
>>
>>62777029
I just went down a rabbit hole on how ICE Brent futures contracts are created and traded. So apparently, both parties (the seller and the buyer) need to consent to physical delivery for it to be contractually obligated. If the seller doesn't want to deliver or can't deliver, he can just cash settle against the Brent index price. That index price is really the only thing that ties futures contracts to reality, and is itself determined by a mix of factors like the prices of physical cargoes being bought and sold and the futures prices themselves.
So to manipulate futures successfully, you have to be able to manipulate both the futures contracts themselves and the ICE Brent index.

they have a pretty great business and you can see that literally every year their revenue and profits increase at a nice rate. But as someone who travels a lot globally to different regions, it seems like alternative payment methods are gaining traction because people don't want to pay visa and mastercard anymore (for example qr code payments, european union wanting to create the digital euro for cheaper payments, etc...) so the duopoly might weaken across the world.
Besides that though, they just announced a major project with other partners for using stablecoins for cross border payments (something which people were scared of that it was going to be competition for them) which goes to show that they can adapt to the new age, so who knows
