Old thread is nearing its limit >>10790295

This thread is for ouji and aristocrat (aka "boystyle") discussion. "Boystyle" is shorthand for "boystyle lolita" and refers to the masculine counterparts of Japanese lolita and, often, aristocrat fashions. There is a lot of overlap between these styles, and different people use different terms to describe them. We usually just use "ouji" here.

remember looking at GLB scans of ouji and guessing what they were about?

modern technology removes a lot of that guesswork. imagine the terminology debates that could have been avoided if anyone could easily run a page thru Google Translate back in the old-school days.
>>

take google translate with a grain of salt, anon. it's crowd sourced and most submissions are from non-native speakers. there are also a ton of words that are localized into english and not translated at all.

>>10879459
Seems like a good way to dip your toes into ouji and build up the confidence to wear weirder coords. Eventually, you'll want to get ouji-specific pants too though because more elaborate outfits will look kind of unbalanced with normies dress pants. Buy the rest of your coord first and compare different pants critically to make sure they look okay.

oldschool ouji used to supplement their coords by using anything from bloomers to normie uniqlo pants. as the red-headed step-sibling of lolita fashion, some creative resourcing is often required to fill out a wardrobe that doesn't look like shit.

I got my first ouji pants and vest but turns out my torso is too long, vest is somewhat too short and pants are not high waisted enough. I expected the pants to be not high waisted but is there anything I could do? Just get a different vest or pants to match? I know, should have planned it out better before buying stuff and measured lenghts of everything too.
>>
>>10883632
do they fit otherwise? is the crotch comfortable, do the buttons fasten without pulling taut? no reason to get rid of em if so, just don't pair them together. if neither fits, send them off to a shorter ouji

still gross if it was a woman, and yes I know most people who wear ouji are women. But that 100% looks like a dude.

>>10884756
ouji means prince and the style is based on the fairy tale image of a spoiled little prince. If you look like a big manly man then go for EGA or another grown up masculine style, if you look like a gremlin then stay out of j-fashion entirely.
>>
>>10884769
the style is based on a lot of stuff. stating your preference as though it were fact is dumb.
>>
>>10884771
that is what several brands define it as.
>>
>>10884750
how are you failing to realize that the disgust it evokes is the point.
>>
>>10884775
which brands? not aatp.
>>
>>10879459
>>10879463
I suggest some nice high waisted trousers, some darts go a long way. Brand pants are typically very, very poorly constructed, the brands are pretty specialized in making dresses and blouses and so on, their pants are just shapeless tubes that you hopefully hide with a buttcape or long vest. You'll want very long, high rise pants so that you can pair them with lolita blouses and vests that are often very short because they're meant to be worn with a skirt or under a jsk, so they'll end at like.. your bellybutton. You want pants that reach your bellybutton, so avoid having a gap. Oftentimes even brand pants don't follow this rule and are inexplicably low-rise and look awful. I blame the 2000s I guess.

>>10879485
Some of the best coords use pants. For ageplay ouji sure you'll wear diaper shorts but the best of the style is leaning more towards vampire-prince than child-prince. Many of the ouji that go for a more mature style are just wearing plain dress pants, they don't need much adornment but darts or a pleat down the center of the leg for example would look nice.
>>
>>10883632
>>10883752
just buy high waisted normie trousers, brand sets don't even match themselves sometimes they want you to just wear an untucked blouse to hide the ugly upper of your pants and fact that it doesn't actually reach the vest. it can work but it's usually going to make your legs look super short for a very unflattering silhouette, unless you're going for the childish look. >>10884753 is a good example of pieces that individually should be cool but the silhouette is this box of ill fitting fabric. Desperately needs shoes to add a little height and stop the pants from crinkling at the bottom, and if the blouse was tucked at the front it would create a much more streamlined regal appearance

>>10884743
>>10884759
meanwhile these use boz blouses that are meant to be untucked and are shorter at the front so that they don't create that box-effect, the.. oversized dress shirt borrowed from your dad-look

i checked both ali and taobao. i went to ali because they usually have something decently cute/cheap for me to decide if i’m really into ouji before i drop $300 on an outfit. haven’t had much success with either. might just settle for classic ouji at this point
>>
>>10894408
i found sweet ouji in the shops in buttcape's shopping guide. don't give up. (although, it was not pastel girlish sweet, just regular)

I really wish they would just use some chunky yosuke platforms, the footwear always looks pretty bad in their ouji shoots. Otherwise, I really like the fabric used, rare W

What do you guys think of MARBLE? I was just looking at a few things from wunderwelt (pic related), and I really like their big neckties and the variety of solid/subtle colorways. I have an atelier pierrot mini dress and I think the bolero is perfect for covering my shoulders. I like everything about their clothes except for the 'V' shape in a lot of their skirts. I was watching a lolita talk about the fashion and she said "if you like looking ita then go for it" about MARBLE ;_; I think I want to get into EGA more than Lolita. The dress shapes and symmetry suit my american body more. It's too hard to find drop-waist dresses in lolita. I'm in love with the h. Naoto parasol too. I know it's all goofy vampire clothing and I should just wear what I like, but I was just wondering

what is "aesthetic kei," that sounds like people who say something is "corecore"

some of their stuff works for ouji or EGA, but mostly they do skirts, so you are asking the wrong thread.

>>
>>10906753
Letting westerners wear ouji was a mistake. Lolita *can* look decent on a lot of different types of people and body shapes, but ouji? It objectively looks awful on anyone who isn’t the right build.

Even when someone has the right build, westerners have no taste whatsoever when it comes to ouji. Maybe it’s because there’s less info out there about it, but it’s not an exaggeration to say that 99% of all western ouji looks like shit 100% of the time.
>>
>>10906948
there's fewer options and a less strict silhouette. lolita skirts at least need to accommodate a petticoat. but ouji bottoms have no such inherent structure to prop up the coord.
