If your character has specific visable hair (likely they do) and you aren't wearing a wig to emulate it your cosplay looks shit, end of story so anything else is just cope
The unfortunate reality is that "acting white" can be a death sentence (literally) in the black community. What you're looking is the mental gymnastics requires to be able to enjoy a hobby without being beat when they return home at the end of the day.
