They made my male friend cover his nips last year. Which is already stupid af because no one cares about boy nips, but it’s especially ridiculous because they only started going after topless dudes on Saturday, so they made rule changes mid-con. We checked everywhere on their website, guidebook, and social media. They had absolutely nothing in the rules about it and there was no post about the rule change. The staff members even treated my friend like he was some kind of asshole and like he should’ve psychically known about the rule that was brand new/never posted anywhere. Love Acen as a con, but the staff need to get their shit together and stop power tripping

As other anons have stated it's not worth it. The worst thing about the midwest server/cgl scene is how every story just has to be the worst experience ever next only to learning you have inoperable terminal cancer. I don't know how they keep playing nice to one another outside the fact that everyone knows how shitty their community is, it's like everyone has dirt on everyone so they just hang out together because it's either having to make new friends or mutual self destruction. The parties are fine but the last few ones have just been talking about a specific individual who if half the shit is true, I do not understand how is not in prison. That is where the problem is, most stories have a big talk but no one acts which makes me question what is even real. The server is fine but you can cut the air with a knife there but it's a good resource for finding rooms, just keep everyone at arms length.

I cosplay so I don’t want to carry a ton of extra stuff. If my cosplay has pockets I’ll carry my phone, room key, credit card in case I want to buy something, ID in case I want to buy something 18+ or for late night panels, and maybe whatever lipstick I’m wearing for touch ups.

If my cosplay doesn’t have pockets, then I’ll bring one of those tiny purse backpacks (like an ita bag or loungefly backpack.) Then since I have all that extra space, I’ll throw more into it like a wig brush, compact mirror, mini pack of Kleenex, band aids, hand sanitizer, safety pins, maybe a little snack/candy etc. and I also offer to throw in anything my friends don’t want to carry themselves
