Super MAGFESTJANUARY 23-26, 2025 – National Harbor, MD - Gaylord hotelPower Glove and Bit Brigade will be coming.Badges are now $145 as of Dec 1st.https://super.magfest.org/TQ: What's your plan for MAGFEST?
The usual. But 2023's was a bit lackluster especially in the MAGFest Museum area.
>>10942218what's my plan? same as always: restart my tinder, drink heavily, then cry myself to sleep when tinder inevitably doesn't pan out.
>>10942397What didn't you like about it?
>>10942431>restart my tinderThat was your first mistake anon.
>>10942218They make you buy the badge in order to get a chance at the hotel, what are you supposed to do if you don't get a room?
How is everyone getting there this year?
>>10942446I hate to say it anon but if you do want to go the con you would have to book months in advance that is nearby. Believe me I looked at hotels within walking distance for that weekend like late in early Fall and they were booked. Just get a hotel within driving distance and get there and park. I did that last year.
>>10942495Just driving there. From my state to the hotel booked and then to the Gaylord parking garage early to get a spot.
For the people that drive there, do you make a road trip out of it or is it strictly business? How hard is flying in?
>>10942446>>10942520Allegedly this year it wasn't even that, you basically had to have connections with the staff to get a room and everyone else got fucked. My friends and I were in the lottery for rooms and even those in the lower hundreds couldn't get anything proper. We got stuck staying at some unaffiliated hotel somewhat near the con, so we'll probably get murdered lol
>>10943327Is that area dangerous? I assume a lot of people have to get off site hotels and walk
>>10943294Strictly business to go there mainly. Especially since its cold and my car will be full of cosplay stuff more than exploration clothes.
>>10943327Where did you hear that about the staff connections?
>>10943329Dangerous, no. Baltimore in some parts is no doubt. But the Gaylord is in a decent area. Hell the Alexandria area across the bridge into Virginia isn't bad barring some seedy motels that get frequent druggies and homeless. Lock up things but there is a lot of people there going to the con rather than trying to rape and rob. From my experience from last January.
>>10943327Not part of staff at all and got a double digit number in the lottery. Cope.>>10943329The Gaylord is on a tourist trap "island" that's kinda segregated from everything else. The only people that are going to be in that perimeter are magfest attendees and the staff running the hotel/festival/the surrounding businesses and restaurants on the island
Here is the current apparent MAFGEST lineup. Definitely gonna hit the Team Fortress, Soulsborne, and Resident evil lineup.
>>10943908The schedule for 2025 is now on Guidebook
>>10943294I fly in. It's a $30 uber to the Gaylord.
if i live in the area, is it worth doing a day trip to the con? which day would be best?
>>10944318They do not sell Day badges. So you would have to get a full weekend badge which will be $155. And they announced there are only 2,500 badges left. For you specifically if you want to go for one day you could just go Saturday and pay only for Saturday and Sunday as they will prorate the badges so you won't have to pay for Friday and Thursday that passed. You have to pay by card online or in person, no cash. Check their FAQ.https://super.magfest.org/faq/#one-day-badgeIt doesn't hurt to check it out but it depends on what you want. Its got a decently large arcade and if you like concerts they have those too. check their site and see what you want to do. It has some of the usual panels. Some Cringe and some not. Its the Gaylord so some people for the spectacle of the center and to collect at the gazebo. Thursday is not too busy. Each day gets more packed. Saturday will be more action crowded and you would want to get there early to get a parking spot nearby if you drive there. Food there is a bit expensive as well as eateries around it. And those are packed too since people will all go at once to them such as a nearby South African style food place.
>>10944333i'm honestly a little bit tempted to just loiter and hang around with the 4chan types milling outside of the convention proper
>>10944334make sure to dress for the weather. It could be bone chilling cold out. Almost froze my fingers off walking in there.
>>10944335i live here lol - i know how it is. still, thanks for the reminder
>>10944334It's very lobby con able. But the badge is very worth it IMO.
>>10943329you can stay at the oxon hill red roof it's like 90$ lol
