i want to buy things with those chinese styled button/latches (like the ones youd see on qipaos/cheongsams) and tassles, but im very white and dont want to be called "insensitive"personally i think its silly that itd be gatekeep but you know. what do people in your local comms think of qi lolita and other chinese inspired jfashion? whats your stance on it?
>>10942271>what do people in your local comms think of qi lolita and other chinese inspired jfashion? People in my comm would say what's in the picture isn't lolita. We don't really talk about other j-fashion unless it's very lolita adjacent like EGA and ouji. I don't think I've ever seen anyone in my local comm wear qi-lolita and there are quite a few south east Asians in my local comm so I'm guessing the style just isn't popular. Wa-lolita gets some love in my local comm though and there are some people (of different ethnicities) in my local comm who have meta wa-lolita stuff. As long as you wear it well and don't act annoying or make racist comments while you're wearing it I don't think anyone in your lolita comm is going to have a problem with you wearing qi/wa/han-lolita. The general public is probably going to think differently and if you're somewhere in the west where people are outspoken enough to actually say something to you even though you don't know them then prepare for someone to have a problem with you wearing anything qi/han/wa inspired regardless if it's lolita or not.
I don't think you're insensitive for wanting to wear it, but I will think that you look like a tool for wearing it. It looks tacky, and I think that about majority of wa and han lolita too.
>>10942273the one in the picture isnt supposed to be lolita, i just used lolita as an example since its the most popular. i do like qi lolita thoughi wouldnt be racist or insensitive while wearing it and obviously recognise the chinese inspirations. although youre probably right about other people potentially taking issue with it. i might test the waters and do it anyways and just see how it goes>>10942286it can look a bit tacky but there are some pieces i really love and want to at least try it out
>>10942271>>10942273>>10942286>>10942312that one chinese warlord probably had his american consort wear it, do as thou wilt white woman (most people here in asia find it amusing, asians that grew up in the west probably have different ideas tho so idk)
>>10942312Don't think you're racist for wearing it but I question your taste, especially in the realm of lolita where there's so much better looking shit out there, but you'd want to wear one of the more costumey (and imo ugly) kinds
