I'm moving to the Kyoto/Osaka area soon and am wondering what lolita comms/events are like in Japan. Have any gulls lived in JP? I can speak Japanese, so there won't be a language barrier. From what I've seen, it looks like "comms" don't really exist.
I feel sad that no one's replied to you OP so I'll give it a shot although I don't live in Japan.>From what I've seen, it looks like "comms" don't really existThis is what I've heard to be true as well. Seems like most people meet up with lolita friends and do outings moreso than what we do in the west. Seems like brands often host smaller tea parties/events for customers (like store-specific small events), so those could be things to look into.
I don't "live" here but spend most the year here or Korea depending on work shit.Twiplay has a lot of ticket to events, you may also want to follow peatix for other events. By far world cosplay summit is the biggest event and best way to meet people. Osaka has quite a few lolita bars and not everyone there is just to do customer UwU stuff, some often will close the shop to host a meet. Most 'comm' stuff is just meeting up at events or themed bars, last girl I did a few dates with would always go to some bar on sunday for them. The term "pop up" event is something you're going to need to keep an eye out for.Not knowing Japanese will kinda suck I would advise at least learning basic mannerisms. Most Japanese do know basic english just often hesitant to speak it,For other events Osaka has Den Den town and Animate often lists local events and such on a board, IIRC it's by the cash registers on the 3rd floor. I can check tomorrow.Feel free to ask away
There arnt really any Japanese comms like how we do them but there are a few international comms. In the Kansai region there is the Kansai international comm on facebook. And they still meet up about once a month or two. When I was an international student in Japan about ten years back I joined. There are a few long timers there and a few students or language teachers in the group so friends turn over fast.
>>10944283Thanks! Luckily I speak Japanese, so hopefully I can make some friends. This is super helpful!>>10944482Ty! I'll join this group>>10944260Yeah, I think it's because lolita is more "casual" there- lolitas just become friends and hang out with eachother, they don't feel the need to create comms. I think comms came to be elsewhere because we needed to seek out other lolitas lol
