Discuss your favourite alcohol in this thread and the way you like to drink it be it neat, chilled, with ice or in a cocktail or mixed drink.
Look down on others who drink competing brands who you think lesser of or if you feel the way they drink their alcohol is unmanly.

I was just hanging out with some coworkers after work for the first time in a few years. One of the other guys was some African immigrant. I offered him one of my Blue Moons and he bit the cap off with his teeth. I kindly reminded him it was a twist off and we all had a laugh.

Lager of any type is great. I still like some ales, but lagers are just crisp and more refreshing to me.

Wine I love vouvray for whites. Again crisp kind of tart, refreshing. Reds I go with a local malbec. Riojas are good too from what I've tried

Liquor, haven't found one I dislike. I guess rum isn't my favorite but only when it's neat. It's just too sweet

I've recently come to the conclusion that Apothic Red is my red wine of choice for casual drinking. It's mild and easy to drink with a good bouquet and a nice flavor. IMO everyone should try alcohol at least once in life, it's a vital part of the human experience. Which non alcoholic beverages do you enjoy? That can be a good way to determine which alcohol you may enjoy, or at the very least can serve as a mixer.

the key with alcohol as with many things is moderation, if you feel you have an addictive personality or have problems with self control or peer pressure (never try keeping up with other peoples drinking, how people handle liquor varies wildly) then absolutely stay away. but if you don't feel free to try. Like I've known enough alcoholics to never be stupid enough to go too far, but I enjoy a good drink
I would actually start with beer. the alcohol content isn't so high as to sneak up on you and the taste is different enough for you to know there's booze without being too harsh like trying straight liquor
>>20396492

>>
>>20396248
White wines too often make me think someone took some grape juice and just added a tiny bit of vodka to make it feel alcoholic. Reds tend to have rounder flavor profiles, fuller bodies, and taste more distinct from non-alcoholic beverages.
>>
>>20398287
Last time I had a rose, it was basically like a hybrid of a white and red wine. You should try it at least once and decide for yourself.

Sweet mixed drinks made at home allow you to control the alcohol content to-taste, you don't have to feel stuck with any particular ratio:
Rum and Coke
Dark and Stormy (Rum and Ginger Beer)
Gin & Tonic

Sweet, low alc% (5% or less) commercial drinks are also easy introductions:
Alcoholic ginger beer (Crabby's)
Alcoholic ciders, vodka coolers

If you're comfortable with bitter flavours (like black coffee, 80%+ dark chocolate) then you'll probably also be fine with most beer.

But before you start drinking alcohol at all you should be fully committed to one idea: you don't have to drink. I mean this like you don't need to drink to be social, you don't need to drink a beer just because someone offered it to you or called you a pussy, you don't need to drink the rest of the bottle of wine just because you opened it, and you don't need to drink the entire 6-pack just because you bought it. If you're not 100% comfortable stopping when your brain and body have had enough, then you're going to have problems.

Most people don't like alcohol when they first try it, but people tend to develop a taste for it over time and as they get older (tastebuds change). If you have an addictive personality generally or tend towards excess, like if you open a bag of chips and won't stop until the entire bag is gone or you can't go a day without icecream or something, then you're probably going to run into problems with alcohol if you develop a taste for it. In that case it's better just not to start.

>>20398316

the cost difference was pretty negligible a couple years ago. nowadays I'd hate to see the price of the 15. I know the 18 is basically $500, minimum $1k for a 21 and the 25 is over $2k. last year I bought all my special bottles from the UK and the price for shipping made it so that I was only paying an extra $20 per bottle.

Enjoying the finer things can be a gift AND a curse. Too much of something good is never healthy after all. But I can’t stop consuming the finer things and I will continue to consume them until my joints swell with uric acid and it hurts to walk. An important question to ask is whether we deserve the finer things, considering what someone has to do to be able to acquire them. Nobody gets to the top clean, you always have to climb over someone else’s corpse or broken dreams. It must be so sad for all of those people looking up from the grotto, seeing a brute such as myself sucking down escargot, and escar-TOES. It’s all about being admired, being the center of attention. I think that’s what truly drives someone to seek out the finer things. For instance, one time I went into a youtuber’s minecraft server and I was the belle of the ball when I told everyone I’m a seventeen year old girl. It felt great! It might have been my first taste of the finer things. And it was definitely their first taste of blackmail.

I often wonder what my life would be like if I didn’t have such a pursuit for the high life, such a knack for luxury. Perhaps it’s only meant for certain people, and that’s why when you get to it, it tastes so much sweeter. But then again I wonder what the cost truly was. A happier life perhaps? Well tell that to the Scottish whiskey I’m sipping on which cost about as much as a month of rent in that shithole New York. Ahhh yes yes the finer things, the finer things indeed. I hope one day we can all experience the finer things, but until then, more for me.

It was worth it for me. It helped me release 18 years of pent up tension and anxiety and relax. After I started drinking I lost my virginity (while sober) and became capable of having friends and holding down a job. You don't even need to be drunk all the time, just experiencing the breath of relief from the constant strain of existence showed me that there was another side to life and practicing being relaxed and chill while drunk let me channel that calm mindset while sober. Pretty much cured my autism.

As the other anon said, sours. You just need simple syrup (literally just blend sugar and water in a 1:1 ratio) and lime or lemon juice.

If you get some bitters, you can also make a few other cocktails like an Old Fashioned.

For the best flavour experience you should drink from a glass. If the beer has sat for long all the solids settle to the bottom as a fine residue. You want to get that residue re-dispersed in the beer to get the full flavour, so it's best to pour 95% of the beer in to a glass, then use the remaining 5% to swirl up the residue and then tip in to the glass as well. Thank me later

Drink responsibly. You might throw up for the entirety of the next day, with traces of blood.

Alcohol is a mixed bag, and can very quickly turn into a habit if you've got the personality for it. If you want to get into drinking you need to figure out what it is you want out of it. Excuse to socialize? Find a beer you enjoy drinking, which is a good chance it WON'T be some faggy hipster IPA if you're on the west coast. Just want something to feel like a fancy bitch? Try a couple of different kinds of whiskey. If you're looking to get shitfaced without having to choke down something awful, mixed drinks (aka bitch drinks) are a good choice because they usually taste really fucking good. The important thing is to take shit really slow when hard liquor is involved, because you can go from zero to unconscious in no time flat if you don't watch yourself.

>>20394122
I highly, HIGHLY recommend getting the Quarter Cask if you can find it. Expensive as fuck, but I cannot find a better scotch.
>>
>>20396080
It depends entirely on your personality. Generally speaking, the less of a taboo you view it as, the less you'll care about it.
If you're worried about getting addicted, try to stay transparent with others about your alcohol consumption. My parents barely drink, so I was able to keep my consumption habits relatively grounded by talking to them when I started experimenting. Conversely, avoid college students and the like; lots of them are alcoholics in the making.

>>20408935
>The important thing is to take shit really slow when hard liquor is involved, because you can go from zero to unconscious in no time flat if you don't watch yourself.
Ironically, I always found hard liquor (if it's of a decent level) to be the easiest to process, but if I drink hard liquor I only drink 1 glass. Any more than that is overkill for the exact reason you stated.

You gotta make some tea wine
>strong black tea
>plenty of sugar (I did 850g for 3.5 liters)
>some fruity flavorings (zest of two lemons is my go to)
>raisins
>wine yeast
>yeast nutrient
Takes 2-4 weeks to brew, but god damn it's good once it's finally done. Much better than any storebought hard tea, plus it's stronger and actually contains caffeine (not much, but enough to have some extra effect)
>>
>>20408726
You know, you could enjoy steak and mushrooms without it being an excuse to recover from poisoning yourself.
>>
>>20409656
nowadays I dont bother with them. the cask strength batches were good until 5-6. after that the price jumped and batches became very similar.
>>
>>20408891
don't worry it's a joke I have no interest in doing crack, and only would do cocaine if I was rich so not any time soon
>>
>>20410742

>>
>>20410760

nothings better than a cool pilsner beer

first you must learn what kind of drinker you are
first vodka - the grungiest potato rus-nigger swill you can find
if you dont like it - GOOD that means you are human FUCK VODKA except polish vodka

next gin - but mint dry? maybe a whiskey but how to choose? so many - your milk bottle will be jack daniels - you might mix it with cola despite the headaches
we are no longer living in the age of cocktails btw - if you ever want a sidecar - or a screwdriver - or a gin gimlet and no old white MEN are bartending - you will never experience the art of sublime perfection and i am so sorry for you anon
so you might sample of bulleit bourbon - you may find it superior to wild turkey or makers or whatever whiskey-slop they shill here - bulleit's consistenty for a bourbon satisfies when purchased from the closest indian reservation's local walmart trust me

but what about wines? and beers? wine seems pricey (a scam) so how about a pint
before u can enjoy superior beers brewed with german purity laws - try swill from the swine - corona - budwieser - coors - keystone - heineken
you wont notice the difference between tapped beers yet - but you might hate these reccomendations - GOOD because hate makes u stronger
now try a real "retail" beer - La Victoria with pico de gallo and nachos
Red Stripe with crawdads and cajun chikken
japanese Kirin - for a pale beer it's far ahead so far
Hoegaarden - Now you've pierced the veil
some chance you'll try a real honey mead - or homemade plum wine

to ever get the chance - first you must master yourself
why do we drink? - egyptian farmers built pyramids by beer rations in clay jars
socially we drink to sand our rough edges
if you drink and lose control - its a skill issue not a social issue
someday you may be invited to celebrate an aged 21 year scotch - maybe even some rare zinfandel from brazil
but in the end - YOU WONT BE DRINKING FAGGOT OP'S SHILL SWILL FRANZISKANER
remember german purity laws are your friend AND 40oz OF COLT 45

hey /alc/ what low alcohol beers do you recommend? I generally only drink wheat beer, pilsners, rice beer and steam beer because it's basically eternal summer down here in Florida. I enjoy a crisp, low ABV beer to cope with the heat but I don't like to get too drunk. I just found out about Stillwater Super Dry and had no idea 3.8% was even sold in the USA so I'm curious what other low ABV beer there is

good lord when will Amerimutts stop parroting this retarded shit. German purity laws have nothing to do with creating a "superior pure" beer they were issued to regulate the proportion of grain harvest that was divided between bakeries and breweries because everyone was brewing & drinking their wheat harvests instead of baking bread with it.
You cultureless fags with 1 German greatgreat grandparent think it's something akin to superior nipponese steel folded 1000 times but for booze when in reality it's some medieval rationing law to stop peasants from hoarding their grain to drink it
>>
>>20411993
I prefer radlers to lawnmower beers when it's hot out. They're usually 2-3% and much more refreshing than low ABV beers

If (You) enjoy wheat beer (AND/OR most specifically Franziskaner Dunkel) do try this out, and believe me when I say drink 4 or 5 of these and catch a clean energic drunkness
Don't get me wrong, flavor-wise I prefer franziskaner dunkel, but despite this I still consider aventinus a superior beer
>>
>>20413850
yes, for Frnziskaner, Paulaner and another I don't recall the brand

Anyone ever drink this? Used to be my favorite like 10 years ago, stopped drinking for a while and when I got back into it I couldn’t find this anywhere. I usually just home brew these days, but I still long for a fifth of this now and then. Same company that releases 3 Monts, which unfortunately can’t compare.

It was alone and I did wine
Cognac would've been a better choice but I had to drink the wine at some point
>>
Finally cleaned up and set up the kegarator and got a 1/6 keg of a local pilsner, perfect beer for the warmer weather. I also picked up a bottle of Old Forester 1897.

Old fashioned with wild turkey
Cheap gas station beer
I bought picrel for cocktails. Did I fall for a meme? It makes perfectly clear ice cubes which "don't melt as fast and taste better" because there's less impurities.

I won my local bottle lottery

not sure if I'm gonna resell or keep it yet.

Perfectly clear ice tends not to crack as easily, so yeah usually it'll last longer.
>>
>>20425373
Keep it unopened for a few years, could be worth $1k+ if the batch it's from is sought after.

Drank a Pseudo German Lager from a brewery near me, was bretty good

>because there's less impurities
There's still the same amount, they are just at the bottom of the ice cube, because that's the last part to freeze. That thing is just an insulated try, you could also get the same result from an insulated cup. If you want to be autistic about it, you should shave the bottom layer of the ice cube that contains the impurities or you could just use distilled water.

you guys ever try visinata (cherry liqueur), it's my absolute favorite

>30% alcohol volume so it has a nice strong kick and burn to it
>sweet and delicious like a cherry syrup, perfect to take a tiny swig of while eating some nice meal

Evan Williams is a great value, have you tried their premium whiskies like the small batch? I like that a 750ml of their good stuff costs the same as a 1.75L of their regular bourbon.
>>
>>20426553
99% of stuff out of Heaven Hill tastes cheap no matter the price.
