I used to save a good amount of money on milk, eggs, cheese, gas, olive oil, berries, and nuts. I ended up saving money by shopping there because of that. But they raised their prices and I kind of just break even now at best.

Worth it for the gas prices alone.

Worth it for gas, toilet paper, soda/soft drinks, and liquor (if your state allows it), assuming you have space to store bulk things. Used to be you can get decent deals on things like TVs, but I don't know how true that is anymore, haven't done that in years.
>>
>>20433915
I do. Bulk stuff to freeze and the premade meals can be pretty decent and quick. I just hate how many Mexicans there are, but it still beats seeing niggers in wal mart.
>>

Yeah it used to be that everything was cheap, now some stuff like milk at 'co is more expensive despite being sold in 2/3 gallon carts

I'm not a lone man, but we're a family of two. We shop at costco primarily for meat and for liquor. Sometimes we'll buy big pieces of meat and cut them up for the freezer. Often we'll buy frozen fish fillets and such like. And you can't beat their prices for liquor and wine. They almost always have Johnnie Walker Black, which is our preferred everyday whisky, and often they have Lagavulin 16 which is our special-occasion whisky.

No, the only reason I go there is to get cialis for cheap. Legally, they are required to allow non-members to use their pharma, prescription eyewear, and hearing aid departments, because it's health care

costco has some of the most unaware people I have ever encountered. I never have people get close to me in public but in Costco they will walk or stand so close to you the fabric of your clothes touches. very uncomfortable place to be for me
>>
>>20433896
I used them for my gas
>>
>>20434318
How cheap? I get mine from Amazon for about $15 a month.
>>
>>20434036
That's because your local grocery store might be taking a bigger hit on milk to lure customers in.

Costco is generally a better deal with more curated potentially higher quality products. But it's often times not the absolute cheapest if you're real thorough about maximizing coupons/deals across multiple stores.
>>
>>20433896
>muh $1 hotdog

I can get the same shit at my local texan gas station store. there's no costco in sight to compete so it doesn't really matter though.
>>
>>20434575
The difference is Costco's hot dogs are actually pretty good.
>>

It's been said already but I will also vouch for the fact that either Costco or Sam's memberships pay for themselves if you know how to shop. I have a chest freezer in the garage so we load it up with bulk shit every few months for cheap. We still use a regular grocer for some things because not everything is cheaper there.

And if you're not a poor person, you'd know your toilet paper and paper towels alone are the best in the industry, for the best prices

I like my prime and choice steaks, and almond danishes, and vanilla gallon ice cream as reason enough for to go. I get half of my christmas presents while there, as well. More than paid of my membership fee already thanks to their sale on peanut butter back in January. It was about half the price of what it sells for in grocery stores. I bought eight two-packs for a net savings of over $50 just on that purchase.

$1.15 per week for gas that's $0.15+/gal cheaper than anywhere else, walking a lap around the store for free samples, and occasionally actually buying some reasonably cheap food

Gas at my Costco is consistently $0.40 cheaper than discount gas and $0.60-0.70 less than Shell/Chevron. Lines are always pretty long but I don't mind waiting 10 minutes to save hundreds of dollars a year.

Just the opposite, the food court is now CLOSED to non-members. At my local one there's no effect since it's inside and you had to show your card to get in anyway. At the ones with outdoor food courts, they now check ID when you order.

Some spergs run around screaming that restaurants are open to everyone by law, or that pharmacies are open to everyone by law, but that's a state-specific issue and I've never run into any bullshit like that in any state I've lived in.

>>
They sell groceries there, but I don't believe that is the primary purpose of Costco. It's a wholesaler; it's primarily to buy shit wholesale (in bulk or cases). You might actually get a good deal and save if, for example, your fat ass buys a case of Twinkies or Pop Tarts cheaper than per unit. E.g. a case of 8 boxes of pop tarts for $24 ($3/each) rather than $4.30 per unit.
>>
>>20436082
>Lines are always pretty long but I don't mind waiting 10 minutes to save hundreds of dollars a year.
I do. I go to BJ's where the gas is more expensive but the lines are always short.
>>
>>20436262
>by law
In Canada you can't require unnecessary personal information for business transactions. I have not bothered seeing if they give blank memberships or just not actually require one.
Also the Costco in Vancouver has the food court directly opening onto the sidewalk on the same block as 2 stadiums.
>>
>>20433896
I've actually found better deals at Kroger.
>>
>>20434054

>>
>>20433915
Buying in bulk helps you combat inflation irrespective of how many dependents you have in your household.
>>
>>20434330
This is true. I also feel like all the giant ass carts and flat beds kind of herd the people together. Especially around samples. Oh well.
>>
>>20436588
Imagine living in the city
>>
>>20433991
They sell TVs but I'm pretty sure TVs are one of the few things that cratered in price over the years so who cares, probably because they started stapling a bunch of adware on all of them but still
>>
>>20433915
I live by myself but I share a membership with my family who live like 2 timezones away from me.
Even for my own standards, it's pretty worthwhile. Gas and pasta alone justify my membership. I'm about to move soon and I'll probably buy some home appliance from Costco too.
>>
>>20438383
>pasta
Do you buy Barilla pasta? That's the only brand of pasta I ever see at mine.
>>
>>20438309
Yeah that's what I figured. You can get such good deals on TVs between Christmas and the Super Bowl that they don't have an advantage anymore.
>>
>>20438415
I got that Rummo brand at the store I most often go to. It comes in packs of 8 bags of spaghetti and each bag would be my lunch for 4 days.
Every other week I get either the curry or just get the pork loin and prep that over the weekend.
If I worked near a Costco I would probably just live on their hotdogs every lunch.
>>
>>20433896
>paying a subscription fee to not shop alongside pieces of shit

this model should be expanded to more businesses, I will happily pay a fee to not have to shop alongside miscreants.
>>
>>20438415
NTA but is there anything wrong with Barilla?
>>
>>20434244
Two isn't a family, it's a couple. Unless you're a single parent. If so I'm sorry.
>>
Costco is fine if you know what you're buying and you're actually genuinely saving money compared to regular grocery stores.
>>
>>20433896
Costco products/services have generally been in decline for several years but it's still worth it for:
>decent quality staples (not the cheapest, but often the best VALUE)
>gas
>hearing aids and glasses
>occasional deals on other items, like currently $100 off Kitchenaid mixers
>ultra-liberal return policy
and also....
>LITERAL GATEKEEPING
The atmosphere inside our Costco is remarkably different from the Walmart down the street. You do the math.
>>
>>20438946
Unfortunately, money cannot always buy class. While it's true that the average Costco shopper is less poor than the average Walmart shopper, that generally only applies to white people. If it's Chinese and Indians, it doesn't matter how rich they are, they will always be trash. And there are a lot of chinks and pajeets in my local Walmart and Costco.
>>
>>20439040
>my local Walmart

>>20439061

>>
>>20433896
not even a big deal. the real problem is that their prices are now fixed to be almost identical to what you can get at any local non-bulk store. you’re paying for either the label of it being organic/fair trade and the slightest increase in quality for some products. so instead of saving, you’re paying the same price but in turn get a different brand. cosco is still worth it for meat because of the declining quality of processing and shipping
>>
>>20435999
men don’t have erection problems because of fapping or getting old. we have erection problems because we’re bored of sleeping with the same woman for 3+ years. you’ll understand when you get in a relationship
>>
Anybody here made the switch to Sam's Club? They have cheaper gas and a better food court menu now, but we haven't done a side by side comparison for staples.
>>
Just got a membership for $60 with $40 back. Gas there is $0.41 cheaper than anywhere else. Even if I never bought a thing it'd be worth it. Meanwhile going tomorrow to load up on steaks and ground beef since it'll be warm enough to grill.
>>
>>20433915
I do. There's a lot of good deals on stuff other than bulk groceries and it makes the membership worth it, lots of household stuff, sometimes tools or electronics, clothes (they're great for low fucks "day off" dadcore stuff), alcohol, etc. They also have really good deals on "luxury" foods that are a ripoff anywhere else, salami and so on, and also stuff like bacon and butter that you can freeze most of.

>>20436262
Yeah my local Costco did the same thing recently, anybody used to be able to walk up and order at a window, now you have to use touchscreen order kiosks that won't do anything until you scan your card.

>>20439040
My local Costco is overrun with belligerent slavs and arabs lately, going there always kinda pisses me off but it's still worth it.
>>
>>20439173
>clothes
>dadcore
can you believe they just killed the classic Kirkland 100% cotton jeans and replaced them with a "new" version, synthetic blend? what the actual FUCK i hate current year
>>
>>20433896
Has any anon done the math here, do these types of stores (Sam's Club, Costco, etc.) actually save you money, even with the subscription?
>>
>>20439193
They killed the Levis they had for years too and replaced them with super baggy ones. I'll admit I never really liked any jeans from there except the brief period they had Lucky though, I wear a lot of their other dadcore stuff like those synthetic button-up short sleeve shirts, fleeces, khakis, etc. but I've always been a dark wash straight cut jeans guy and they've never been great for those.
>>
>>20439201
The cotton Kirkies were classic Costco, never the best jeans overall, but the best value for $10 or whatever, and they easily lasted twice as long as Walmart Rustlers for the same price. Now we're back to Walmart and domestic violence disputes in the parking lot, 911 on speed dial.
>>
>>20439197
It totally depends on how much you shop there and what you buy. My parents have the "executive" membership, which has a cashback thing that more than covers the annual fee so it's definitely worth it for them. If you're in a place with expensive gas the savings from Costco can easily cover the cost as well, I save at least $10 every fill up so it doesn't take long to pay off my $60 membership.

It's also worth it to me just because I can get better stuff for the same money, though. Like say I need towels or pillows, I'm gonna spend the same I would at Target, but I get way nicer ones for the money. They've got a lot of food I like but wouldn't buy at regular grocery store prices too, especially stuff like jerky, salami, cheeses, etc.
>>
>>20439197
Nobody really goes to Costco to save money unless you have extreme self control.
>>
>>20439215
I've been getting the Walmart Wranglers myself, not the Rustlers but the $22ish ones. I avoid the place like the plague myself otherwise, only set foot in there maybe twice a year when I absolutely need something like those jeans that I can't really get anywhere else.
>>
>>20439197
Did you actually bother to read the thread? There were multiple examples of the math given.
>>
>>20433915
its worth it for costco optical alone in my case. They haven't fucked up any of my lenses in 10 years, but every other pair i'd get would be fucked from other shitty places.

Prices ending in “.97”: These prices have been marked down. According to Costco, prices ending in “.97” are usually discounted, but not always.
Asterisk (*) on the upper right side of the price tag: This symbol indicates that the item won’t be reordered once it sells out. This means you should stock up on the item if you need it, as it may not be available again.
Odd pricing, such as 79¢, 49¢, or 89¢: These prices indicate specially priced items that Costco got a deal from the manufacturer. These prices can be better deals than at other stores, but not always better than the 97¢ markdown.
Sorry for the AI sloppa, but I think that is a pretty good QRD on Costco pricing.

We have a BJs membership.

There’s a nice BJs near my old job over an hour away that was a pleasure to shop, even if still a warehouse experience out of the 80s. That area isn’t very upscale, but Lilly white.
There’s another BJs 5 minutes from my house mere blocks off of an upscale shopping strip that has been the main suburban drag since the end of WWII.

This BJs is filled with the dregs of humanity. You could probably get a quorum of United Nations membership just by polling at the doors. Every shopping experience here is filled with screaming latinas of every stripe from dominica to patagonia, pakis and indians scamming each other while competing in aromas, eastern euros trying to slip extra stuff inside their boxes, hutu and tutsi re-enacting hotel rwanda in the parking lot, and zombied out on fent staff that has to deal with this shitshow…

I leave stressed any time I have to shop there… it’s like being on public transportation sober, you’re on full alert to all the nonsense around you and know that none of it is normal or should exist in a civilized area

In Alpharetta, it's wall to wall Asians, mostly Indians. The one a few miles up the road in Cumming is a nicer shopping experience but that location doesn't sell alcohol so we have to go down to the Alpharetta store sometimes to get booze. The good thing is that the liquor part is completely separate from the rest of the store and apparently Indians don't buy much alcohol so once you get past the demolition derby in the parking lot, things in the liquor store are reasonable.

There's a lot of Costco deep lore. For example, if they run out of stock on a particular item, then you are technically allowed to take the floor model for free, which sometimes leads to scams where people get friends to buy a bunch of items and then return them, so Costco have to place a new floor model, rinse and repeat. But honestly most members don't even read the full Costco bylaws so they have no idea what they're missing. Personally I've only met maybe 10 people who even know about the Executive Lounge and the poker games.

>If it's Chinese and Indians, it doesn't matter how rich they are, they will always be trash. And there are a lot of chinks and pajeets in my local Walmart and Costco.

We shop there because it's cheaper to buy in bulk. Also idk what you're complaining about, Indians and Chinese people make substantially more money than white people in America. If anything, we use your presence as a barometer of quality lel.

>Indians and Chinese people make substantially more money than white people in America
I think that technically the group with the highest income are Nigerian-Americans
>>
>>20447181
money can't buy basic human decency, something pajeets and chinks both lack
>>
Costco is filled with the most entitled people to ever fucking live.

I haven't tried their "organic" in-house brand. The only other brand they sell is Skippy, which is awesome. They sell it for 25% cheaper than anywhere else in the area.

Not just Methodists, also the Baptists (same bunch that thinks dancing and gambling are sins, tbf they might be right about gambling).

I don't see whole lamb/goat at my regular grocery store.

Yeah, the "Death Star" asterisk thing is great.
It was fucking hilarious hearing the leftards reeeeeeeeee when they put it on Bud Light after the tranny-fluid thing last year.
I also noticed it on an item that I was buying regularly, and stocked up on a few months of it. Sad that it's gone but I'm still going through my stock. Maybe they'll bring it back like they just did the duck.

>I have never seen a Mexican in costco
They're all over mine. Also Arabs, and a few eastern European groups. Only occasionally see any poos, you can keep them, thank you for your service.

The west coast has these things called Costco Business Centers which are closer to restaurant supply stores. That's where you find the whole goats, and 55 gal drums of space lube. But every Costco is theoretically a wholesale store, despite what Reddit's outrage when they see someone buying a whole pallet of pies or Star Wars stuffed toys. (Every single warehouse has a big sign that says Costco WHOLESALE, Karen.)

>It doesn't, it gets stale/rancid after a year or so even if it's a sealed jar.
I don't think I've had any problems with 1-2 year old peanut butter.

>$10 a month for the good membership
>access to vastly superior groceries and other goods
>no nogs ever, period
>no mexicans ever, period, because for some reason they think sams club is better (its not)
>the south east asians are all the wealthy ones

only problem with ones in my state are indians will load up their entire 4 generations worth of family members to go walk around costco with an empty cart and bitch about how expensive everything is and how everything is beneath them and not as good as it would be in india (weird how they moved here though, right?) and then leave the empty cart in the middle of an aisle and leave after loitering for hours

but to be fair the poos in my state do this at every large chain store so it's not exclusively a costco issue

tl;dr costco is based and if you complain about the membership you are high school drop out living miles below the poverty line and thus you don't matter in anybodys life including your own

Mine has a ton of Armenians, and then a lot of hispanics, a decent number of Eastern Euros, and some Asians. Only about 1 in 20 people I see there seems to be from America too, though it's hard to tell with the Armenians because they're so insular that you get 3rd and 4th gen American-born ones who can barely speak a few words of heavily-accented English.

Oh no, I literally just bought some yesterday. How awful is it?
>>

The one time I remember seeing actual ghetto obnoxiously loud stereotypical hoodrat NIGGERS at costco they parked their chrysler 300 across 2 parking spots and left their cart behind the car parked next to them despite being 1 space away from a cart return.

>seeing more Mexicans and lard asses
Grim might need to start shopping early morning when they first open. There was a time when a Costco location meant no minority lived within 6 miles
>>
>Nearest Costco is a hour and 25 away from me
All we have is Sam's Club, but I can get a year's worth for under $20.
>>
>>20450802
I feel like the general idea is that Costco is way superior to Sam's but I don't know if that is just the media. Does anyone here go to both?
>>
>>20448366
>because for some reason they think sams club is better (its not)
I wageslave at Walmart have a small payroll deduction for the plus membership at sams, but Costco seems to have better items. I just hate how routinely packed it is every time I've been and ultimately decided not to renew my membership. Maybe it's just that I'm visiting at bad times.

>Indians and Chinese people make substantially more money than white people in America
and white people make substantially more money than Indians in India and Chinks in China. What's your point? Yeah, if you consider only the top 10% of society who are positioned to emigrate you find this is the same everywhere. Tired of you shitskins justifying your presence by comparing your elites to our underclass.
>>
>>20450843
i've literally never heard of sams club until a few months ago on this board, so costco definitely has more of a household name
>>
>>20450843
I have visited both and in my experince Sam's is a bit less packed than Costco, though I think Costco carries better, higher quality items than Sam's club, and the Kirkland store brand is itself generally is pretty quality, too. I favor Sam's Club for most of my in-store shopping because it's less crowded, as well as have a soft spot for the pizza. I've been on the fence for a while about renewing my Costco membership.
>>
>>20451214
Sam's is less crowded that Costco because Sam's is the inferior store
>>
Which canned san marzanos are the best ones?
>>
>>20451222
I wish it wasn't packed. Working in retail and shopping, at Costco in particular, makes me wonder about human consciousness and awareness to the point if I'm becoming a schizo or a sociopath.
>>
>>20450886
>Maybe it's just that I'm visiting at bad times.
Mine is always pretty packed (so is everything in my area though) but I find the best time to go is early afternoon in the middle of the week. That avoids the commercial shoppers that are in there on Monday and Friday, the big families that come on weekends, the old people that always come early in the morning, etc.
>>
>>20434261
i like their pizza ;(
>>
>>20451242
Define 'best'. Foodtubers have done blind taste tests and they usually prefer Bianco Dinapoli but I always go with Cento because they're ~2 dollars cheaper and taste very similar.
>>
>>20434261
>$2 for a 700 calorie slice of 'za
you get what you pay for and at that price it's pretty good
>>
>>20433991
>"Worth it for gas"
>Spend $5 to drive to costco
>save 20 cents per gallon (btw walmart/murphy's express is the same price without a membership)
>car gas tank is 20 gallons
>you just spent $5 to save $4, Plus membership fees, plus tip
These niggers ITT failed math class.
>>
>>20452861
>Post clearly states it's worth it for multiple things
>Say it's only worth it for one thing and make up a retarded scenario
Clearly you are the retard
>>
>>20452829
$10 for a whole pizza that can feed four people (if they're not gluttonous fatasses) is amazing too, I can't even cook a decent meal for that money. Sadly Costco is about as good as regular pizza gets in my area too, lots of gourmet places around but nothing decent for plain old NY-style and the ones that come anywhere close are like $30 for a smaller pizza than Costco.
