why are udon and soba different dishes in this pic? when i ordered ramen in japan they asked me soba or udon and when i didn't understand what the fuck they're talking about they gestured with their fingers the thickness of the noodle i would like to have. i'm pretty sure at least once i got buckwheat noodles in my ramen. yet that picture implies they're different dishes. weebs please clarify

Tempura is literally Latin. Catholic priests fried vegetables covered in breadcrumbs in sesame oil to observe meat-fasting days while in Japan. Japan adopted it because fried breadcrumbs are really fuckin' good.
