>>22218029Toaster can do:>Regular bread>Bagels>Frozen waffles>Frozen toaster strudels>Pop tartsMine has a collapsible rack piece and I use that to toast burger/hotdog buns on one side. All of this is just different forms of bread, but still.I can't think of anything else for the rectangular pan. Maybe a sandwich?
>>22218029it's so you don't have to fire up an entire oven for a piece of bread
>>22218032Sorry, you're right. You can't cook anything except for sweetened scrambled eggs in a pan that has corners. My mistake!
They are a group of people with a propensity to take some random thing, important or trivial, as far as possible for them towards what they view as the best. That's why some people devote their lives to bonsai tree scissors, or to grilling eel in a single particular way at a food stall, or to cooking what they view as the best possible omelette by shape and method.>>22218032>I can't think of anything elseIt's a fucking raised edge pan anon, get a grip. You use it for anything you'd use a pan for. It's not a unitasker, it's just constructed in a way that makes it better at something at the cost of making it worse at other things. There are plenty of other pans from other countries that are shaped differently from others for the same reason.
>>22218039>>22218032a toaster oven style air fryer accomplishes the exact same task while allowing for a far greater range of cooking things like reheating, cooking smaller meals, and frying things like frozen fries/totsit's an objectively better toaster and you should feel bad using a standard toaster unless you regularly make standard toast
>>22218023i'd make squirgers (square burgers) in it
>>22218040>>22218041Well yeah, of course you can put other things in it, it's a pan. I'm not that dumb. I'm just trying to think of reasons why you might reach for that rectangular pan rather than a regular round one. I can't think of many other applications where I'd prefer it.
>>22218052burgers or sandwiches made in a pan like that and served in an oblong sandwich bun would actually be excellentlike imagine an over easy egg that perfectly fits on top of a ham sandwich
>>22218044I do regularly make standard toast and I don't eat very much pre-made frozen junk. My full-size oven gets those jobs done just fine. A toaster oven is a poverty indicator when I see it in someone's house.
>>22218074>pre-made frozen junkfrozen fries and tots are not exactly junk, it's par-cooked and lightly coated with oil and seasoning, flash frozen, and then takes ~10-15mins to crisp to a pretty perfect fries without using a liter of oil and it reheats pizza, or really any leftovers far better than any other devicereally the ideal reheat of pretty much any leftover food is 1 min in the microwave, followed by ~10mins in a toaster oven air fryer to crisp and brown
>>22218064You could get really good hashbrowns with it that are crisped at right angles, and the angle/corner you give them would further increase their crispiness. Any fritter or patty that you can fill the bottom of that small pan with will have the same advantage.
>>22218023>I thought the Nihongo were supposed to be an efficient group of people.we all have our indulgences, don't we hmm?
>>22218083>frozen fries and tots are not exactly junkanon.......
>>22218044don't you have to use 2kW for toaster temperature? toasters should draw way less power
>purpose-made tool for a thing you make 3-4 times a weekThat's when a unitasker makes sense.
Cooklets the lot of you all. This pan also accepts SPAM! That is right, you can slice up and toast your spam slices & sauce them prior to attaching them to some rice via a small strip of seaweed! Oh, and it also accepts oil and can stir fry for your bento! Seriously you all should watch some Japanese bento cooking, you will see this pan used for all sorts of cooking.

I don't like single use appliances but having a single additional pan that makes certain dishes more convenient to make doesnt sound bad. It doesnt take up much space and will last you a life time. That being said i cook on an electric stove similar to pic related. A square pan wouldnt work for me because it would probably heat very unevenly.
